I heard that happen too. This is where you record it and reps name and id # and post it on twitter of fb and make Dell reply.

By not doing so, we encourage those bullies to think of more ways to lie/scare us into making decisions based on falsehoods.

First review of the X17 is up: Alienware X17 Review - YouTube
It's a system with 11800H CPU, RTX 3070 and FHD screen. I would expect the 7760 to perform about the same with a similar configuration, so it should make a nice point of reference.

But shouldn't we expect around a 5-10% performance deficit with the Precision due to lower wattage components?

As others pointed out in the comments section of the video, the GPU scores seem to be quite low for a 3070 at such a high wattage. Maybe driver issues? Hopefully the Precision doesn't have any weird driver issues limiting performance and I would seriously hope not considering the premium that we have to pay for such devices...

An interesting observation from the video is that the 7750 and the Alienware X17 seem to have similar thermals. Both can maintain 160-170W combined CPU and GPU at around the same temp.
The Alienware seems to consume a few more watts at the expensive of being a few degrees hotter, but there isn't a huge difference between the cooling of the two systems. Since the Alienware is thinner than the 7750, it seems like the two bigger fans of the Precision might be equal to the 4 smaller fans of the X17.
Either way, good news for us since we spent a crap ton of money for a laptop that has very good cooling compared to other systems. I would much rather take the thicker Precision chassis for more RAM and storage slots.
I do have to say, the X17's cooling is very impressive considering the thin chassis (X17 is bigger wider and longer though), and it does make me wonder what the Precision 7x70 systems will be like. We might be at ~25mm thickness for those systems. But a 17 inch laptop isn't going to be smaller if it's thinner. Bezels will have to be reduced for the laptop to be more portable.
If we fully transition to ARM in ~5 years (when I will buy a new computer), we can potentially see server level performance in the current Precision chassis. I really hope there is a big efficiency improvement in the next 5 years, because seeing what the Macbook Air (still not very "fast") can do without any fans with the M1, makes the future of mobile workstations particularly interesting. But for now, I'm still impressed with the performance of the Precision even though it is a power sucking monster. My guess is that in 2 years with an XPS 15 chassis, we will be seeing the same CPU performance as the 7x60 Precisions and ~50% worse GPU performance compared to the 7x60 Precisions.

My order status went to "in production" yesterday I think. But there is a deal which makes my spec $200 cheaper so I cancelled my order and will re-order. Can anybody else check their order status to see what you all have?
Looks like they might arrive a bit earlier than the estimated date if you ordered it before June 20th (I ordered mine on 6/15)

Mine just went into "In Production" as of this morning. I placed the order last Monday, June 28th. As a reference, in case different parts/orders are going into in production sooner/later than others, I ordered a Dell Precision 7760 with the following specs:
    • Intel Core i9 11950H
    • nVidia Quadro RTX A5000
    • 4K display w/ IR Cam & WLAN (no WWAN)
    • 8GB memory
    • 256GB SSD
    • Palmrest Fingerprint Reader, Smart card Reader, & NFC
    • Backlit Keyboard
    • Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX210 Wireless Card with Bluetooth 5.2
    • 6 Cell 95Whr Long Life Cycle Lithium Ion Polymer Battery (3 Years Warranty)
I think I covered all the main specs. If you (or anyone else) have other questions, let me know.

Hmm, looks like the 7560 does support XMP, because Dell offers 3466 MHz RAM, which isn't a JEDEC spec. @rwzeitgeist, do let us know the CL/CAS timings when you get them...
