I am in for a RTX5000, if you still have a vacancy on the list. Thanks.

@Ionising_Radiation Please go ahead and create a marketplace thread with the group buy information under the Components section before taking any payments for this, so we can easily track the progress of the transaction.

I'm OK with you all using this thread to conduct the transactions. You can do it via private message (conversation) as well. @Ionising_Radiation you can make a marketplace thread for legitimacy if you like, that way you can get some positive feedback from your buyers.

Thanks for chiming in, @win32asmguy and @Charles P. Jefferies. I do plan to open a Marketplace thread, but only once I've got confirmation from Dell. The rep still has not confirmed availability of the cards (despite having sent a quote, which I find rather strange), and hence I cannot take money from anyone at all, because Dell won't take my money in the first place.

My 7540 (with RTX3000) has finished the manufacturing process and should be delivered shortly. Completely determined that I am to replace the the RTX3000 with RTX5000, I just wanted to check with the experts here that is there anything else that I need to take care of? e.g.: -

    1. Whilst the form factor is the same, any additions/ changes required to thermal interface material? Like the pads on VRAM chips, VRMs etc.?
    2. When physically swapping the cards, are any consumables required? I can think of thermal paste...
    3. Are the power limits of both cards compatible? Change in adapter warranted?
    4. Will future BIOS updates work seamlessly?
    5. Any possible method of updating config with Dell? My machine has Complete Cover for 3 years...

@Ionising_Radiation, it will be deeply appreciated if you can point me to your posts, if there are any, detailing your fitment of RTX3000 in the 7530. i think 7540 should be very similar.

Sorry for so many questions. But then this forum has been a great discovery for me! Cheers!!

    1. Correct, same form factor, all good. (Technically we haven't seen the RTX 4000 or 5000 in a 15" system yet. They could surprise us and have an improved heatsink assembly or something. But I doubt it.)
    2. Yes, you will need to apply new thermal paste on both the CPU and GPU. You should also clean the old thermal paste off to get a good application of the new stuff. Isopropyl alcohol works here.
    3. They are capping these cards at 80W so no change in power adapter is needed. We will of course check out swapping in the 7740 vBIOS so they can run at up to 110W, and in that case, a 240W power adapter would be useful.
    4. Yes.
    5. No, they aren't offering aftermarket GPU upgrades of any sort for Precision systems.

Hah I would also take one if you have extras. I'd love to try one in a 15" precision myself.

So, I’m planning on asking for 30% off the MSRPs for the GeForce RTX 2070 Super and RTX 2080 Super cards (given they have the same core counts as the Quadro) for the Quadro RTX 4000 and 5000 respectively:

    RTX 4000: US$500 × 0.7 = US$350
    RTX 5000: US$700 × 0.7 = US$490

These prices include shipping, without customs. Once again, being hypothetical; Dell hasn’t confirmed availability yet (I shall create a Marketplace thread once that’s certain, provided prices don’t change).

Does everyone consider these prices fair?
