New BIOS drop (1.3.0) seems to have remediated this issue, at least I have not noticed the symptoms for the past 4 hours while being plugged back into the dock.

When it was released, I checked and didn't see anything on the TB 16/keyboard/mouse. So does Dell just pretend that it didn't happen? Stuff like this screws up people using their Command Update.

    To me,
    "Fixes & Enhancements
    1. Enhance dock's audio performance"

Is a strong hint that the update relates to the TB dock performance.

Dell has also reissued the TB Controller driver with a new date although it's been around for several weeks. Perhaps that's a hint to people to update it.

Found out that i7 cannot support 2400MHz, though it can detect it. We removed 1 pc of 16GB 2400 and replace with 8GB 2133 and no more problem as the RAM was set to follow the slower speed RAM.

The problem that my friend encountered was that the whole screen became pixelated... even when on external monitor.

So do take note of this....

I don't recall seeing any reports of swelling Precision 5510 84Whr batteries but this report indicates that Dell is now willing to replaces these batteries out of warranty. Some of the XPS15 users probably work their batteries harder then 5510 users and have encountered the problems first.

Just joined this forum to see if I'm alone in my constant battle with my 5510 or more specifically my docking solutions provided by Dell? I've had these USB issues mentioned above for quite some time now I'm running bios ver:1.2.29 with an i7-6820HQ with the 4k display. I can provide more specs if necessary to clarify my system setup, but I've been having issues since the TB15. I've had the best of luck with the WD dock, but I've been recently told by a Dell Tech that they only recommend the TB16 dock which has given me these USB issues. Is there any specific resource on here about 5510 issues? I'm currently under the impression that there's no good thunderbolt docking solution for this laptop (at least from what I've tried from Dell). Also I have gone through an exhaustive process with Dell in trying to get this along with some other minor issues resolved.
    So far:

updated all drivers (sent to me by the Dell technician) in a very particular order
    replaced system board (twice)
sent into Dell for repair (where they replaced the system board the second time)
    replaced my TB16 dock
turned off all Windows options to shut off USB devices to conserve power
always running in high performance mode
occurs with various USB devices and only have an issue when connected to the dock (direct laptop connection has no issue)

Also this is my first post and if there's something I've done wrong or somewhere else I need to post I'll gladly do so. I just think there are a lot of people on this thread who have had a good experience with this laptop and I don't know what or if I'm doing something wrong.

Welcome. :) I think Thunderbolt-related issues have caused Dell (and, I assume, other notebook manufacturers) a lot of hassle. My own complaint is that plugging any device into the USB-C port wakes up the Thunderbolt controller which doesn't appear to have any built-in power saving and uses 2 to 3W even when doing nothing.

My first suggestion is to try BIOS 1.3.0 which was released about two weeks ago. While the details say "Enhance dock's audio performance" whatever has been done to improved audio may have also made other improvements.

Thanks for the quick reply! That's definitely next on my list to try. I was wondering if it was something that was consistent across the market right now (Thunderbolt/ USB-C docking station issues.) It appears that this is quite a tough solution as with e-GPU docking solutions are typically tied directly, compatibility wise, to their (usually same branded) laptop.
