Thank you for the alert, but what hyperthreading bug are you talking about?

    UPDATE

never mind that post John, I did what every person with a question posed to his brain should do first before asking a question and did my own research into the matter.

But thanks for bringing it to my attention, this explains many of the quirks I have been noticing working with my 5510 since I have got it as I am always running the hyper-threading enabled in mine.

Intel seems to have come up with a fix by June 25th, 2017, but they did say that it will take some time for it to trickle down to the different vendors. I also did find a verified dell post as early as July 3rd saying that their engineers are busy with working the Intel fix into their BIOS / UEFI updates. No definite word on an exact ETA however.

I expect so as they did patch the 9560 last month, not that anyone needs the microcode update within windows as it loads it's own microcode driver when it's booted.

Not according to Intel and the Debian community. You are only okay under windows should you have the windows issued microcode fix update for your platform

Are we talking about the same thing here?
Microsoft issued the patch back in April, the same one Dell updated in the BIOS last month.

Yeah the very same, but I can find no confirmation that the Dell managed to fix it in the last month BIOS release. some people who were experiencing the issue before are reporting that it is only better now but not completely fixed. Due to the lack of confirmation from Dell it seems to be an ongoing issue which still needs to be addressed from Dell.

Users with docking stations should note the cautionary words here about the latest BIOS update causing problems.

Dell have now issued a new Thunderbolt controller driver and firmware. The notes for the firmware say "Please note this firmware update requires to update the Thunderbolt driver first.".

I just updated bios, thunderbolt controller and firmware - in that order. But when I look into system information in Dell Command Update, I see the following versions. All shows up older than the driver I've installed.

    Bios: 1.2.25 (installed bios is 1.2.29 )
Thunderbolt Software: 16.3.59.250 (installed driver is 16.3.61.275 ,A03)
Thunderbold Controller FRMW: 2.16.01.003 (installed driver is 4.16.00.005 ,A06)

    I don't get it?

    Update
After I did a new "Check" the drivers did shown proper versions!

Warning: Being connected to my TB dock, I now have mouse and keyboard lags :(... Suddenly either the mouse or keyboard stops taking input, and during this line, I've had to stop/repeat/correct every third word.

Edit: This was the same symptoms as from a long time ago, when did also had troubles with their dock. When I connect directly into the notebook, everything is fine.
