    Just received the below.

Very pleased. Surprised how quick and light it is.

This from someone who just put an Intel 80GB X25 SSD in his Desktop.

My first Dell experience in 6 years after a bad desktop. Surprised they've come up with something so Good functionally/fast and yet a ½ lb lighter than most Netbooks.. while having 40% more screen real estate than a 10".

Nice machine. Hopefully won't have any problems down the road.

I'm trying to get the WWAN card going in mine. Mine came without the "wings" so I ordered a winged lid from ebay. It's here and I'm realizing the front bezel of the winged screen must be different too.

Now i have to figure out which part to buy.

OK, i got the bezel to go with my new lid.

I carefully disassembled everything down to the bare lcd (what a tedious operation!) and replaced the lid and bezel. Reassembled everything and it works!

The bad news is that the ebay vendor shipped me the 5720 for Telus instead of the Verizon one he advertised! So the waiting continues to transform my 4200 into a WWAN capable machine.

oh, and FYI, the new Red WWAN lid is MUCH stiffer and sturdier feeling than the black WLAN lid i had before which I really felt was much too flimsy.

So even without the WWAN card working yet, this new lid is a nice upgrade.

    Hi everybody,
just got mine and I would like to share my experience with this "business" ultraportable .
I'll start with the cons- as my pros+ list is veeery short and is limited to light weight and good performance.

    So problems:
    - display is not as bright as expected for a LED display (my hp 2530p is much brighter)
    - display is piece of crap - no white color but large areas of pink, blue and even green (scheduled for replacement). no red but orange-brown.
    - display is UltraSharp only in some sick Dell's brain - the only ultrasharp thing is palm-rest edge with keyboard being so close to it that causes palms pain in long typing. You Dell idiots, couldn't you just move the keyboard 1/2 inch closer to lid?
    - keyboard is nice but too noisy - my colleagues (sitting at least 5 yards away) complain
    - the wifi is dropping constantly (even with newest drivers and max performance vs battery life in settings) I have intel 5100 inside. Same intel 5100 is in my hp and NEVER had any issue with it.
    - battery life is mediocre - having 4cell and SU9400 1.4GHz it has shorter battery life then my hp (with SL9400 1.86GHz and 3cell battery)
    Minor issues:
    - paint - paint looks good at first but looking closely it is somehow unevenly painted (expected more for a 2000$++ business machine)
    - latitude ON chip is missing
    - 1GB soldered - You Dell idiots, couldn't you just open your stingy hearts and give us 2GB on board? it is not that expensive, is it?
    - strange HDD benchmark - jumping up to 160MB/s and falling down to 80MB/s - my MTron Mobi SSD is 100MB/s all the space.
    - only 1 and a half USB port and Ethernet on the side (prefer on the back) - so I decided to go for docking
    - docking costs a kidney
    - NBD warranty in Bulgaria is more like "bring it to the service, we'll fix it in a month"
    - touch pad is a bit small, no pointing stick
    - even with latest BIOS and cpu temperatures at 38C, the fan is working non-stop

My next laptop won't be Dell.
Now I see why Dell lost 1st place and is on their way losing 2nd place in the worlds largest pc producers rank. Go on Dell - there is forth place waiting for you. And 5th.

    My screen is just fine.

Look thru/search this section and/or string (or the internet). I don't think there's been any significant problems with it.

Does anyone have the part number for the bluetooth holder for the E4200? I bought a 365 bluetooth card from ebay without realising I needed the holder as well. I rang dell spare parts but they don't seem to understand what I want. A product number would be handy. Thanks!

I just noticed that at least for Sweden the Dell E4200 has received a bump in CPU specification.
It is now only possible to order it with the SU9600 which is 1.6 GHz. Previously the E4200 came with a 1.2 or 1.4 GHz option.

Wonder if that means a new motherboard? Maybe with better thermal design? Anyone who has the new E4200 with 1.6GHz?
