As far as I can tell all of the motherboards say "WWAN(f)"... you should be able to use a WWAN card. My concern would be that it doesn't look like you have extra antennas...

well thank you , i think the antennas can be bought and added but my concern is just apply the socket to the motherboard or i have to bridge a jumper to make it work and my second concern is where is the bluetooth chip located in this device?

Not sure, but looking at eBay you can buy the Bluetooth module with the caddy and cable if it's not included with your machine.

Just bought one of these and I've got a few questions ( I'm sure these have been answered but I don't wanna go through all 100+ pages.
I bought 2gb of ram. And I plan to add another 2 gb stick in the other slot I've heard people say 3 and Dell says 5 is max, so will 4gb work for a 64bit OS?
Has anyone tried the 1.8 micro drive to msata adapters? Do they work?
How far does a regular sd card stick out of the slot(if at all)? as I plan to use this for expandable storage.
Does the bios have a whitelist for wifi cards or can I upgrade freely?
Also how easy is it to take appart like seperating the lcd bezel from the top plate and taking the top half off of the base where the keyboard sits(I plan to wrap in carbon fiber or something)
Thanks for all the help guys...:hi2:

    2 x 2GB will run fine.

When you say "micro drive" are you talking about "conventional" 1.8" HDDs or the ones they used to make in the CF form factor? I don't either of them will work, but not 100% sure.

Not sure about the SD card.

Dell doesn't whitelist WIFI cards, but make sure you don't buy like a Lenovo or an HP card, or it may not work.

It's not terribly difficult to take apart, imo, but you can once again refer to the service manual:

E4200 has only one SODIMM slot and 1GiB DDR3 800MHz soldered to the motherboard (don't waste money on buying faster modules, i.e. 1066MHz or 1333MHz). So it is either 1+2GiB or 1+4GiB. Mine has Windows 7 32-bit so I've opted for the former.
It's not MicroDrive, it's called uSATA (Greek letter miu, stands for micro). mSATA means miniSATA. Yeah, it's that confusing. Anyway I am using one of these (bought on Ebay for $4) successfully for a while. Replaced bundled Samsung uSATA ThinSSD 64GB with Crucial M500 240GB mSATA. I haven't done benchmarks (mostly concerned about additional space), but it doesn't look like it is much faster than ThinSSD. YMMV.
Up to 2-3mm, just enough to press to eject.
In general Dell does not whitelist cards. If it is not Dell it might fail during diagnostics (ePSA) or WiFi Catcher might be not working, but it should do just fine in OS.
The bezel... Last time I tried I almost broke it. YMMV. Check Dell service manual first.

Thanks for the help guys... Got mine in and im currently using persistant linux till i buy a msata and the drive adapter, found a broadcom b43 chipset wlan chip lying around, installed and glad to see everything working out of the box ( except the b43 needed to get wifi drivers on ubuntu) in Ubuntu,Kali,Backtrack, and I'm about to try Linux Mint(MATE Edition) out to see if that works. Has anyone ever used one of the expresscard 34 to dual usb 3 adapters?34mm 54mm ExpressCard Express Card to USB 3 0 for Notebook Laptop EO | eBay
thinking of getting this since i often have more than one usb device plugged in. Don't need the usb3 speeds but as long as it works. My unit gets a little warmer than I like( its not bad but) any idea on how to make it cooler other than repasting the CPU and chipset, along with cleaning the fan(which doesn't appear to be dusty at all) ?

Haven't tried that yet. Personally I am using Dell Powered eSATA external enclosure together with either DVD-RW drive or HDD caddy. IMHO, performance-wise, that's the best bang for the buck, especially because you need only one cable for both data and power. You can find plenty of these on eBay. You can also use >3rd gen enclosure (the jack is the same), though it has different look.

No ideas. Both of my 1st gen Latitudes (E4200 and E4300) are much warmer than 3rd gens (E6320 and XT3), even though the latters are much faster. Unfortunately, even downclocked, ULV Penryn gets quite hot in cramped spaces.
