The D830 should be faster than the 8200, but not by that much. The 8200 already has a first gen Core Duo so it's pretty up to date imo. If you're looking for a high performance graphics card though, you're better off with an Inspiron or Vostro.

But if you still want the D830 you can always call Dell and have them change your order to include XP.

Looks like I may send mine back now. I have a serious wine coming from under the laptop near the fan or maybe it is the fan. But it really hurts my ears.

I really want to figure out what video dirvers to get for this thing.

I have not had my fan go into it's highest speed except for benchmarking. And even then it'll only kick in on the last 3-5 minutes for a PCMark or 3DMark bench. Ususally it's on it's lowest speed even when I'm watching a movie or playing music.

Me too, that's why I was wondering what he was doing. The fan spins at a moderate rate, but it blows coolly. That's with about 30 web pages open, Outlook, Picasa, and Media Player going.

I've ordered Dell Latitude D830 with:

    T7700 @ 2.4Ghz
    WSXGA+ 1680x1050 display
    2 GB DDR2 RAM
    1 GB Intel Turbo Memory
    120 GB 7200rpm HDD
    Nvidia NVS Quadro 140M
    Intel 4965AGN
    Dell 360 Bluetooth
    DVD+-RW
    9-cell battery

I will write a short review as soon as I get my hands on it (hoping at the end of the month)!

I just hope I will get a better LCD panel than the 'SEC' one people are complaining about.

Can someone tell me whether Intel VT is useable on the D830? Also has anyone experience with Dell's international support? It says European coverage is inclueded with 3year onsite upgrade (I would buy the Notebook in the US, then take it back to Europe as the same config cost nearly 30% more here)

Intel VT should be supported as the Core2Duo is supporting it.
I am not pleased with Dell customer support so far (I own a Dell LCD Display).
No idea about the upgrade options, I think it depends on the country you live in. I got my config in Bulgaria at a lower (with around $60) price as configured at the dell.com site.
