    Interesting link.

I'll buy the card anyway and if it doesn't work in my D630, I know it will in other laptops I own. Thanks.

Hi! So i got this Dell D630 with a broken motherboard and because i was under the impression that every D630 has 1440x900 resolution display, i ordered a new motherboard. As it turned out, there are also models with 1280x800 display, so is there any way to tell witch version display does my model have? Other than wait for the new motherboard to come from overseas and pray for the best..

Go to Dell's support site and do a search on the service tag. You'll be able to view the original configuration and part numbers. Do a search on the part number for the screen and you will find out what brand the screen is as well as it's backlight type and resolution.

It shouldn't be a problem. As I understand it, the motherboards are the same for both screen resolutions.

The bigger questions is whether you ordered one with the same video chipset (Intel vs. nVidia) as the original as this may mean needing a different heatsink.

The old one was with nvidia and i ordered the new one with the nvidia too. And the resolution is only a problem in my head :D the bigger would have been LOT nicer.

If you are the planning on swapping the screens and only swapping the panels, you definitely don't need to change motherboards, but sometimes the display cables for the WXGA displays are different from the ones for the WXGA+ displays and will not support the latter.

Pics or it didn't happen... are you sure it's a D630? Both D620 and D630 should have SATA primary HDDs; I've seen hundreds of these and I've never seen one with an IDE main drive.
