I still have a warrenty on this machine for another 9 months, I don't need to sell it right now until it runs out, and the motherboard has been replaced a few months ago.

What I need to know is the T9300 I have got to upgrade the T7700 in my D630. Can this be done without comprimising the heatsink thermal properties, if so then how do I reinstall the heatsink correctly for the GPU and the chipset after it is removed?

    Documentation

It's all in the online service manuals. Just properly ground yourself, remove the old thermal paste on the heatsink with at least 99% anhydrous alcohol, and apply new thermal paste.

I just got a D630 (Intel GPU, but WXGA+ screen!) and come to find out that their is no BT module. Damn. I got it to replace another older laptop that I used the BT headphones for while I wandered around the house cleaning so I can watch Hulu or Netflix.

I know that the Dell 355 BT module can be had on eBay for dirt. My question is whether the newer 370/375 modules can be used in the D630? It doesn't look like it based on the way they look. Anybody hack one into a D630?

I guess I have to get a cable too. Damn it.

No, those are different. I believe the 370 is a full-size mini-PCIe card, and the 375 is tiny.

Sorry, meant that they both look different compared to the 355/360 modules. I know the 370 is different from the 375.

My main concern is whether I can get A2DP with the 355/360 module. I love stereo for movies. The last Dell I had used the 370 module (long story why I don't have the newer Dell compared to the older Dell now) and A2DP worked awesomely well (through 2 walls more than 30 feet away). I had a Broadcom BT module in an HP too and it worked horribly (damn Broadcom).

Does any use stereo BT headphones (I have Sony DR-BT101 and Motorola S305, if you need to know) with the 355/360 module for the D630? Or has anyone hacked a 370/375 module into the D630 instead?

    Thanks!

I own a D630 with Wireless 360. The chipset is Cambridge Silicon Radio, hardware ID is USB\VID_413C&PID_8140&REV_4315. I couldn't find datasheet but so far A2DP works with default Windows 7 drivers. I've also attached a screenshot as a proof.

P.S. With my Jabra BT3030 audio stream breaks in adjacent (1 wall) room, approx. 15 feet away. YMMV.

Just found a great little tweak to get a little more out of my T7300. ThrottleStop is the ticket and you can follow on the thread here how to do it:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/win...c-acceleration-ida-both-cores-core-2-duo.html

Just enabled IDA and undervolted to 1.05 volts on my Dell D630 with a T7300 going from 2.0Ghz to 2.2 Ghz using the A17 bios and disabling speedstep. Just add to your TS to your startup and you've always got the extra speed. Very easy to do and a great little performance bump with no extra heat or power drain, maybe even a little less for both. Might convince me to not buy a T9300 to run my VM's.

Looking for some guidance on upgrading the cpu in my D630.

Picking up a T9500 for cheap and it looks like an excellent upgrade over the T7250 currently in my machine. I have the Intel video version with WXGA+ screen.

Question: Besides physically replacing the cpu, do I need to replace any of the thermal pads or heatsink compound on the heatsink? I have worked inside the D830 with Nvidia graphics, but not an Intel video version of the D630.

Just make sure you clean off all the old thermal paste over/on the CPU before repasting... I doubt you need to change the thermal pad over the NB; that doesn't really heat up much.

My Intel-graphics D630 is still alive and running great. I've started getting into playing Nintendo 64 emulators, and the laptop runs them all 100% perfectly!
