D630 - only using 1 core?

    I can't run SP3 yet as I'm on a corporate-controlled laptop, and they haven't rolled out SP3 yet.

    Ran RMClock, and like everything else, it's only showing 1 core. Here's the relevant screenshots:

    Ok. RMClock is only seeing one core so the other one must be well disabled. Maybe the Intel software figured out that there were two cores because of the CPU identity and not because it could see two cores.

    I think it is time for your corporate IT people to reinstall everything. I suspect they would prefer a clean reinstall (they may have a standard image) rather than try to identify the problem.

    just as an added sanity check, I booted up a live CD of Ubuntu 8.04.1. Opened up the System Monitor and it displayed 2 cores...

    definitely a windows problem...

    One key buried deep in the registry somewhere. It would probably take one minute to change if we knew which key. What about this key? Or this?

    I've attached a registry export from the info @ the first link you gave.

    For the second link, my registry key was set to 2, which is correct.
