That's the problem right there. You have one core turned off. Assuming the OP has that disabled to start with...

Mine was enabled in the Bios, but it was still not showing or working. The only way that I was able to get it to work was in the msconfig. YMMV

I need to restart and double-check, but I'm pretty sure mine is the same situation. It's Enabled in the Bios, but Windows is only "seeing" one core.

Here's the thing that's messing with it even more, when I do what you mentioned, and go into MSCONFIG, and I try to manually change the number of processors, it only gives me an option of 1.

Like I said, I'm going to restart now and double check that it's Enabled in the Bios... But this is getting really strange.

There's a similar problem in this thread. Maybbe one of the suggestions will work for you.

OK, I went there, it recommended running the Intel Processor Identification Utility.

This is just getting so weird... It says that I've got 2 cores! But why isn't windows seeing them?

I suggest you manually edit BOOT.INI (it's probably a hidden file) to say something similar to this:

Do you have a /numproc value at the moment? If so, what is it?

I didn't have a numproc value set, so I set it to 2 like you advised to, in the BOOT.INI

Restarted, and same thing. Still only showing 1, even though my numproc = 2

Windows must think you have only one core. How to persuade it otherwise? I presume you have applied hotfies such as this? Is there any reason why you didn't upgrade to XP SP3?

We should also get a second opinion on what your CPU is doing. Can you download and run RMClock. Then look at the monitoring page and switch between the two cores to be sure what is happening. Perhaps capture the screens (Alt-Fn-Prt Scrn) and attach them to your next post.
