    Yes Very
Well I'm not to worried about looks, But I think it all looks good, I don't want a bunch on stuff on the inside destracting me
    Plain is Good
When might Dell release another laptop 13-15in that would be good for gaming and over stuff for under 2g's... Cause thats what I'm wanting this M4400 is the only one that fits the bill along with having Centrino 2

That 570m fx seems like a pretty nice gpu it's giving me good faith that the 770m fx will be very good as well...

The post concerning the 570 was very interesting indeed.

I am having the same dillema concerning M4400 and the new HP EliteBook 8530w.
HP has 2 big advantages for me, first WSXGA+ screens (that Dell is no longer offering as option), screen resolution that I think is just right for a 15.4 inch laptop and second the option for a Blue-Ray drive. For me Blue-Ray is important not fo the movies (although this is a nice bonus) but for the storage capacity. I will be more than glad to not be obligated to carry 2-3 DVDs each time I want to move some files.
With the new Lenovo X500 I have the same problem, no WSXGA+ neither Blue-ray (at least to the configurations vailable now).
On the other hand I can get Dell from work with a 10% discount (or something like that) while HP will be a completely private buy...

I have to wait the prices on the new HPs before deciding.

Dell is supposed to be coming out with the WUXGA RGB LED truelife sceen soon, I don't know when though, anyone have a guess, or how much extra $?

Also anyone know what bluetooth or wireless usb comes with the M4400 currently? on the customizing page it gives no options, and on the spec list it says it is an option. I definitely need bluetooth.

What kind of battery life can we expect from the M4400 with a 9-cell?

So if you order now no bluetooth?
@ Weegie (or anyone who can answer) Why do you say September? The pdf from what I seen didn't say anything about it being avable then it just said it would have it... Is that when that card comes out or something?

I'm not sure if this Lappy is worth the price...

The PDF,where it says FX 1700M has a little number beside it,and if you look at the bottom of the page where the numbered notes are says available september 2008....also says the FX1700m uses system memory, but not for the FX770M,which is odd.

I'm having all sorts of trouble trying to get a decent price on the thing,in NZ you still can't configure it online.....they had a base price to start with, now its not there anymore, now I'm getting quoted higher price for a base config.....they are really starting to annoy me as they ripped me off once before for the M70 when it first came out to the tune of a grand [which I got back].........I might just wait until they sort their sh*t out with pricing before ordering one.......the US has really good deal with a free 19" monitor at the moment and they don't seem to be gouging on prices for upgrades like here.

Should be an awesome notebook.....FX 1700M and extreme cpu would be a good alternative for games to an asus G50 in all probability,in a lighter smaller package with dells excellent [for the last couple of generations at least] magalloy construction......probably a lot more expensive though.

Mine will be for mcad work and games, but there's no way i can afford top of the line specs in this country unfortunately.

    edit....I was asked if I wanted bluetooth?......which I don't;)

    Ok Thanks for explaining
So how much of a price and performance gain do you think the FX 1700M will bring?
I'm already having trouble making one of these for under $2000 which is my price limit

    Lol.....wish I could get one for 2k US...my base configuration with 1GB of ram,2.26 cpu,80Gb hd,WXGA+ led,no FP reader,no camera....real,real basic spec is the equivalent of 2300 usd.

I think there will be a similar difference between the 770 and 1700 as what there was between 8600GT and 8700GT....basically a higher yield version of the same chip, overvolted and run at higher clock speeds......I would want to see the price difference before buying the FX 1700M which won't surprise me if its not even made available here......from the time I had a vostro 1500 with 8600GT at the same time as my first 1730 with 8700's [which I returned],I would say its not worth it unless its a reasonably cheap upgrade [and yes I have wasted a lot of money on laptops in the last year, which is why I have to watch spending now :D ]

That really sucks... All laptops are overpriced like that there?
I think I'm gonna just get the 770 since I have a $2000 lmit and all
But I still have to wait 2 weeks to get it :.(
So unless a new laptop is out or theres news of one I REALLY REALLY like I'm getting the M4400! :)

    Thanks for the help Weegie

The HP 8530w/p will be even more expensive. Just for customizing, HP charges you $100-$200 more.

The Dell Precision M4400 is very expensive too. I tried configuring one on the Dell website and it came out to a total of about $2200 for minimum hardware configurations.

All of these notebooks seem very overpriced. I think that part of the reason is the Quadro FX graphics cards they come with. They are much more expensive than their counterparts (9600GT, 9700GTS, 9800GTX etc.) for some reason.
