Yes A05 included enhancements to combat heat. It's very simple to do a Dell BIOS update either in XP or Vista.

You double click on the BIOS update after you download it. A box appears on the screen showing you what BIOS you have. It says it's going to close all the programs, flash the BIOS then reboot your system.

The system goes into shutdown mode, the screen goes blank for about 1 minute, the fans come on full throttle for about 10-15 secs and the system rebbots and your BIOS is now updated, just like magic. :)

    Dell makes it real easy.

Thanks Ill try it out once I get this repair sorted out with Dell... I agree to pay they send me paper work I fax it to them then bang they start raising more issues >.< I have a very bad customer service rep my last one was nice... How much of a difference does A05 make? since Honestly I will have to say cooling wise the Vostro 1500 is one of the most underrated systems ever.

I had one minor issue with this update. After updating, I got the warning about my power adapter not being at least 65w. (I have the 90w) Then when I bypassed it and booted into Windows, My processor was running in power saving mode, and my battery would not charge. After rebooting again, there's was no change. So before I was about to go back to A05, I shutdown and removed all power, then rebooted again. This time everything was normal, and my power adapter showed up as 90w in the BIOS.

I don't think it will. Something must have changed in the BIOS in regards to the power adapter that required it to be removed to re-recognized.
