    Hi Guys,

This is the first time I even write something on this forum and truly hope that I can get some help.

I recently received my new Vostro 1320. Everything else works fine except the speaker. Apparently Dell didn't make any improvements on the speaker even though that's the ONE thing people complained the most with Vostro 1310.

My problem is that when I put the volume to the highest level, the sound got distorted. Specifically, you can hear squeaking noise (kind of like high-pitch noise) coming out the mono speaker. I am not sure whether that is common for a mono speaker or it is defective.

I called Dell tech support and was told that I need to return it to the depot for it to be checked, which is really not something I want to do for the speaker problem.

    Many thanks for your help.

I dont think its the problem with the router since i live in an apart and there are tons of wireless network out there, but i cannot find a single one. However, after reboot, it works fine. is that the wireless card defected?

recently i had some problem with my 1320, when i use the battery, the laptop sometimes goes to hibernate supposedly due to the low battery level, but when i restart it, the battery is well over 50%. and when i have both AC and Battery in, the laptop will disconnect the AC for like 10 sec occasionally and then recharging again. As well as some weird HW monitor data that i have with the laptop.

Its a little warm around the left palmrest, but i think the hottest place i've had so far has been the touchpad area. I largely use a mouse anyway but that definitely might be of concern to some people (granted i'm using a 7200RPM drive.)

hi all. My Vostro 1320 is arriving in 10 days. I got the standard 160GB HDD as I though I could throw in a cheaper 500GB on as soon as it arrives and install XP at the same time.

I rang DELL to ask if the warranty would be void if I did HDD the upgrade myself. The "tech" told me it will not void the warranty but during the conversation he also mentioned something along the lines of "you can only upgrade to a HDD that has been "specified buy DELL" as a "non DELL" 2.5" HDD might not "fit". To me this sounds false, I would have thought all 2.5" HDDs would have to conform to a certain size and not have odd protrusions or dimensions.

Could someone please confirm the make/model of their Vostro's HDD? I would like to get an idea of which HDD's DELL are using for their larger capacity HDD's in the Vostro 1320s'.

    Thanks!

I'm pretty sure most standard SATA drives will work on the Vostro 1320. Theres no need to buy it from dell; its just way too expensive.

yes I agree, but I would still like to know a model number from a Dell supplied 1320 laptop just to be 110% certain!

Hi, first of all sorry for my english

I consider to buy the vostro 1320 and I have a few questions.
Do the fan set off when you are using some applications which requires a lot of ressources or in a random way ? Is the noise really annoying ?
what about the 9 cell battery, is it really worth it ?
    thanks
