Good specs for a 13.3" system for $900CDN:

    • Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 (2.4GHz, 3MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB)
    • Windows Vista Home Premium
    • 13.3" WXGA Anti-Glare Display
    • 3GB DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz, 2 DIMM
    • 160GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
    • NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS 256MB
    • 8X DVD+/-RW with double-layer DVD+/-R write capability
    • Dell Wireless 1510 802.11a/g/n Draft Mini Card
    • Dell Wireless 355 Bluetooth 2.0
    • 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery

I was impressed by the look and feel of the new E-series Latitudes and the new Vostros look very similar. I was thinking of picking up the 1320, not for business use, but for home use.

I was actually looking at picking up the same laptop (default config though) for $649.

I just wanted to see what people thought of these new Vostros. I was previously looking at the Studio XPS 13, but for this price I would be willing to sacrafice the styling & graphics/hdmi and get this Vostro. It is on sale for $649 until the 17th, so I have a week to make my decision. It would be really good if we could get some input on these new laptops.

The Vostro xx20's are 90% identical to the Vostro xx10's. What separates the two are the components. ;)

Just picked up that same 649 deal for 449. There was a selection within warranties that reduced the price a further 200 bucks.

So I think I will end up ordering this vostro 1320 for $649. My biggest hesitation was the styling, but the more I think about it the less it matters. I'm willing to compromise the looks for price.

Has your order actually gone through yet? I heard a bunch of people who tried this, haven't gotten confirmation yet. Got me thinking Dell was going to cancel everyone's order who tried to do this.

Vostro actually looks pretty decent in person. I ordered 1310 for a department who doesnt need Latitude but would still like a light, presentation laptop.

It isn't there anymore and it is looking like a lot of those orders will be canceled. There was a mistake on the order form that if you selected "other" for the warranty, it reduced the price down to $449. It appears as though they fixed this though and it isn't there anymore.
