Nah samsung is fine no problems on my end

USD 1000 phones are going to be the norm, unless you can get Samsung and Apple to agree to cap their premiere phones.

I have never owned a Samsung phone that worked correctly. They are always slow and laggy. Even my lowly ole 6s beats the S8 in speed and smoothness. The essential, pixel, v30/g6 and most any other good quality flagship android phone beats the samesong in speed and smoothness.

S8 really is snappy and fast enough to beat iPhone 6s. I gave it a try and really liked it.
S8 doesn't feel slow at all. Maybe you are looking at different perspective.hmscott likes this. -

I install atmost 10-15 apps.
The channel didn't specify Test methodology & specs. I am guessing S8 has Snapdragon? -
It does not matter the amount of apps loaded on a phone....the point is, the iphone 6s opens the same things, and runs them FASTER than the S8. Regardless of how many apps there are, Regardless of test methodology or Specs. The phones are lined up, opening the SAME apps, in the SAME order and the iphone 6s is faster than the S8. How many apps is a moot point. Actually it shows how efficient apple is at managing memory compared to Samsung.
-
I have 52 apps on my 6s. FYI. and I use all quite frequently!

I've done side by side with iOS and Android a number of times, contemorary new release for both, and there is no functional reason to pick the "faster" benchmarking one over the other.
I can't control many aspects I need to through iOS, but I can under Android.
I have a large Apple catalog, which I stopped adding to years ago when I found Apple had forgone true performance in laptops and desktops for poserware.
Where I really needed constantly improving performance, staying with the cutting edge of Intel / AMD CPU / GPU hardware in desktops and laptops, Apple dropped the ball. And, of course in the datacenter, Apple was basically a noshow after an initial attempt.
I couldn't do my work with them any longer, and so I didn't need or couldn't stay within the ecosystem when I used Windows Phone, Android Phone, and I the same goes for BlackBerry even though that didn't fulfill my needs.
For Apple to then try to turn this around by saying their phone hardware is faster just makes me laugh.Vasudev likes this. -
Get his Android Samsung phone to a person that is familiar with setting them up, and let them run through the options, there is likely some thing mis-configured, or as I said malware got loaded.Vasudev likes this. -
Getting rid off Apple's faster animation giving users a super excited feeling of faster performance than Droid. I turned it off and iphone 7 and S7 felt more or less similar in day to day usage while I still use WM10.hmscott likes this. -

Although I should mention calling them "lags" is a little bit harsh, I think "micro stutters" describes the situation better.
I mean, you use the phone, scroll home screens, menus, etc., everything works pretty snappy. But here or there you see a micro stutter.
On the other hand we are talking about top of the line Android hardware (at the time), not some low end Qualcomm chip (though his S8 uses Exynos, since EU market gets only that) and I think it unacceptable to talk about micro stutters on such hardware. Samsung should really cut on the bloat.
And I'm doubt he's the only one who has it. I'm pretty sure it's a common complain with Samsung phones. -
By now that Exynos CPU should be patched and performing fine.
It looks like performance settings and other settings weren't optimal, this thread ends with a good summary:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/how-to/fix-gaming-lag-100-improved-game-t3433260/page3
I don't root my carry phone, it needs to be secure, but even so the options available for tuning with apps extensions given permission to change system settings and control applications gives Greenify - and Samsung native performance tuning (High Performance vs Power Saving Modes) plus other minimal tuning through the Developer settings, and I've got a phone that runs for days and performance without lag or glitches.
I do understand how to root and build my own OS from scratch, or use ROM managers and pre-built tuned OS's, and have done so over the years many times, but for day to day use I need something reliable and secure, so I don't mess with Samsung's stock OS.Vasudev likes this. -
If I were getting poor performance, bad battery life, etc, I wouldn't be happy with it and would have dropped it quickly.
But I am getting several days of power with plenty of performance to do everything even at the first level of power saving, which I can be found running far more often than High Performance mode.
There are always "improvements" with rooted options, but that takes a lot time, and I've run through it enough times to know the limits and why I did it, and now I don't *need* to, so I spend my time doing other things.
Plus I have old Android top of the line phones to hack as the desire intrudes, so I don't need to do it to my primary carry phone.Vasudev likes this. -

@Papusan
I just bought a 256GB Space Gray iPhone X
as you know I like Android more but to me the camera is very important and the Galaxy S9+ Won't fit in my car's arm rest which acts as a wireless charger so it was either the Galaxy S9 or the iPhone X.
The thing is, i love the Bokeh Effect (Which blurs the background) and you need a dual camera to do that. The Galaxy S9 can do that in software after the shot was taken but it is not as good as the actual Bokeh Effect AKA Portrait Mode for the iPhone X
While I was at the store, I took some pics with the iPhone X in portrait mode and man, they look very professional and nothing short of stunning!! -
Phoenix, actually you DON'T need a dual camera lens to do that...you need the 1020. Still the camera to beat for pure imaging.

"...
Conclusion: Samsung sets the pace
The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus is a smartphone without any real weaknesses in the camera department. In both still and video modes, it performs well across the board, delivering consistently good photo and video image quality in all light and shooting situations, thus earning itself our highest DxOMark Mobile score to date.
Add one of the best smartphone zooms and a capable bokeh simulation mode to the mix, and the Galaxy S9 Plus is difficult to ignore for any photo-minded smartphone user.
With the Galaxy S9 Plus, Samsung is setting the pace for 2018. We’ll see if the competition can follow suit."

BUT, you have to understand my situation. It won't fit in my car and I don't want the S9 only without the dual camera, hence, my only choice was the iPhone X as that gives me dual cameras, wireless charging so it could charge in my car wirelessly under the armrest AND have my dual cameras.
You are talking with a die hard Android guy here but I have to eat the iToy bubble -

Click on the 2nd image on top left, and it will ask for your model info to provide options available. You may need to call your dealer for local options. The S9+ is pretty new, so there might be a delay before an adapter is available for purchase.

So, I repeat yet again, the iPhone X was my only choice since it sports the dual cameras which usually only big phones have and it is small to fit.
I hate it like Samsung and even Apple usually puts the regular camera on the small phones and the super duper dual camera on the bigger phones forcing people to go with the bigger phones if they want all the fearures despite them actually liking smaller phones like me. -

Even though I didn't use iOS in 2 years, just spending an hour with the phone and I'm a pro at navigating, swiping up to go to the home screen and switching apps, etc. It becomes second nature. Have you the need for gestures?
Now, moving on to the camera, I will shock you guys soon with the photos this thing takes. It is like they were taken in a professional studio. So crisp with natural colors that are not over saturated like Samsung's and the portrait mode is simply amazing! When you blur the background and keep the focus on j00 or the object, it creates a very professional looking photo.
Since j00 are an iOS guy, and the iPhone 8 lacks the awesome camera and the 8 Plus is humongous (feels like I am holding a walkie talkie not a phone ) then the iPhone X is your best choice even though it's expensive. j00 have to bite the bullet.
Oh and I forgot, my BMW has Apple Car Play so that will be awesome to try out as well -

Well, I must say that's a serious design flaw on BMW's part that they didn't predict people would be using one of the most popular phones out there in their car.

Isn't BMW the company whose infotainment includes Apple CarPlay but not Android Auto? Only company I know that plays favorites in 2018 instead of supporting both, or neither.

Do turn ON assistive tech that gives you onscreen home button and multi-task features. Also, keep a copy of Wondershare safe eraser to delete most telemetry and other privacy malwares from sending your personalized data to Apple servers.
I just love 3D touch.
And you can tweak for max privacy and max performance like you always do.

But check this video out.
