He seriously likes iphones but is a realist touching all good and bad points.
I don't like Iphones camera app at all. Lot of focus issues and blurred photos. I use MS pix which is better than Stock Camera and Live Images are awesome than Apple's Implementation. Any alternatives to replace bloated iTunes on iPhone. I can't switch App store to USA w/o proper address but I do have a international card.
The battery took a nosedive after iOS 11.2.1 When 11.3.x comes out I am clean installing it.

no matter what sugar coated words you come up with, what apple did and said was bull crap. its not hard to tell its all money grab, 200% obvious.

ever wondered why they never keep battery the same dimension, same connector etc? yeah its to force you to buy a new device. most of these phones are so powerful already for the stuff they needed to do, a good quality hardware should last easily 5-10 years. the only thing here would be a problem is battery as the nature of that technology is the way it is, at least for what we have out now for consumers.

if they kept battery the same and by making new batteries while letting people know what batch number batteries = newly made, people won't upgrade their phone at all. you can bet that phone sale will drop like crazy. simply replace the battery and off we go another few yrs.

@Papusan and laptop users already stuck with this battery issue forever and its a trend, because blinded consumers dont point things out.

Why? I don't want to lose any functions on my phone...low power mode shuts down features. Why not? because I don't want to have to carry around extra things. Simple. My phone slowing down a bit is much more manageable than having to loose functionality, and carry around battery packs to make it through a day. Now, once it gets to the point of my ipad 2, then I will have to replace the battery..until then....big deal. You would not even notice until that point. besides...I will get batteries for free from apple since they have a battery recall on my 6s'sss. So all of them will be nice and new again once the time comes! I have yet to see an android phone get a new battery free when they get poor battery life or performance. I have tried with my galaxy note.

@Papusan Finally fixed the ****ing battery drain on iOS 11.2.1, forecefully flashed to 11.2 IPSW using iTunes and the device no longer overheats on idle.
I saw huge drop in battery %age this morning, yesterday midnight it was 70% but when I got up, it was 3% afterwards it turned off suddenly.
Mom complained about overheat while watching 360p videos on YT and I Clean installed everything and the experience is amazing. Hell, android w/o clean install after OS upgrade gives stellar battery life and is less buggy these days.
I am disabling their crappy **** iOS updates, so long Apple updates. Next time I will heed Forbe's iOS update experience into account before upgrading iOS.
I'll update the thread after strictly observing battery life.

All my devices on ios 11.2 are fine. I work using my phone all day. Inside my garage and use my iphone as my business phone. I use wifi calling inside as I cannot get mobile signal. So my iphone is searching all day for the mobile network signal and at the end of the day 10-12 hrs in the garage, I still have between 65 - 75% battery left. This is a 6s too. My wifes phone is the same, as is my sons. All 6s phones. My ipad air 2 on 11.2 lasts days with moderate usage. like 3 hrs a day on screen time.

See the version I'm unhappy with. Look clearly. I said I was very happy with 11.2 and extremely ****ing unhappy with ****ing terrible and horrendous battery life and standby times.
11.2 lasted 3-4 days while 11.2.1 killed battery life from 70-0% left completely on desk with 60-70% Cell reception.

Whatever the latest one is. lemme look what I am running. I am on 11.2.1. I unplugged 8 am this morning..it's notw 12:53 pm and I am at 93 percent. Used my phone for 1.5 hrs of streaming this morning while out for a drive with the fam, listing to Christmas music. Took a few photos and talked with my dad on imessage. So....You need a new battery. Or, there is something else draining your battery...it's not the OS...that was just by fluke you noticed it. my ipad is the same. 2 hrs of screen time today looking at new wood working plans for my shop, etc, texting my wife etc...and i had 96% left. Also on 11.2.1.

Its only a month old, on 11.2 my mom used to get 4-5 days of standby along with 14Hrs of active time w/ Youtube app and Whatsapp.
There are lot of people with iphone 7 on 11.2.1 facing same issue. Currently, I blocked all iOS update.

Can you check Available RAM in AIDA64? Even after a hard reset and blocking iOS update, the available RAM is only 100-200MB.
Do you tweak anything on iOS or using the phone at stock settings.

I use it on factory settings...I see no need to "tweak" when it already is faster than my android devices of newer generations. I don't "tweak" anything...if it does not work satisfactory from the factory, I return it.

More Trouble In Paradise? iPhone X Users Are Unable To Use Face ID For Family App Purchase Authentication

Following earlier reports of twins bypassing the feature, it added to how Apple’s latest system isn’t completely foolproof. But given the amount of technical sophistication required to make Face ID work, it was far from enough to create any major problems for Cupertino.

[IMG]RELATEDApple Slowing Down Your iPhone: Here’s Everything You Need to Know
However, it looks like Apple itself doesn’t feel completely confident about Face ID. iPhone X users have discovered an interesting glitch when it comes to using the software. Several new reports claim that Face ID isn’t compatible with Apple’s ”Ask to Buy” feature. The feature allows ‘family organizers’, typically parents to give the go-ahead for app purchases, primarily by their offspring.

For the iPhone X, if parents or others want to authenticate app purchases, they have to enter their iCloud password every time for a new approval, which is a tedious process.

Unlike the slowdown for older batteries issue, I'm going to defend Apple here. It's way too easy for a kid to point the phone at their parent to allow purchases without actual consent by your parent, unlike passwords and fingerprints, where the parent knows what's going on. This is one situation where I think not allowing face id makes perfect sense.

So it's okay that Apple decides what's best for the parents (Me)? I like to decide myself. Not what others will force on me (See exactly the same behaviour... Apple force slow down, down the throat on me). They decide what's best for me. No thanks. I don't need a babysitter!!

Edit. Maybe start to look at their own behavior

On a Mac OS, even it displays Macintosh HD/SSD and even displays my_name Files but major downside is Apple is in control of entire system and gives the fake feeling to the user that they(end users) are in control. Mac Skynet Sierra.

They messed up royally with the iphone X. Poor user experience taking away the fingerprint scanner for the massive notch inducing facial recognition setup, Apple pay must be horrible on that device...plus having to hold your phone up to unlock is DUMB! The 8 is a better phone. They did the X just to say they did an "all screen" phone. It backfired because it was very poorly executed. The true all screen phone, the essential is a much better device than the massively over priced X.

Must be...thanks for noticing. I never had an issue EVER, updating any of my apple IOS devices. The biggest thing I noticed was wonky calling for 2 days after the ios 11.1 update. 2 days later it sorted itself out and has been stable ever since.

LAWSUIT FILED IN ISRAEL AGAINST APPLE FOR CAUSING IPHONE SLOW DOWN

The lawsuit accuses Apple of having “a clear interest in hiding the information from users because it would prefer they replace old iPhones with new ones as soon as possible.”

A class action lawsuit was filed in Israel against Apple accusing the company of breaching its duty toward users by failing to disclose that “innocent” software updates would slow the performance of older model iPhones.

The $125 million lawsuit was filed on Monday in Tel Aviv and comes on the heels of at least four other lawsuits filed in the United States. The lawsuits were filed after the disclosure last week by Apple that it provided software updates that slowed the phones in order to make aging batteries last longer. Lawsuits filed in the United States charged that when faced with the slowdown, consumers concluded that they had to buy new and more expensive iPhones. YEES, Let it come in spades!!:D

As much as all the android fanboys want apple to pay dearly for this...these lawsuits will be thrown out of court. They slowed down the phones to save battery, NOT to force upgrades...There WAS a reason. If there was NO reason...and they slowed down the phones. Then yes. But...this time this will be laughed out of court. They should be sued however, for releasing that turd called the iphone x however. Just on the grounds it's a peice of crap.

Fixed it for you. They thought they can milk enough cash and introduce 2000$ phone next year.
When you pay a $1000 it should replace iPad or provide desktop like experience for example Samsung DeX.
If iPad gets replaced their market is lost to Apple because of their iphones.
Apple isn't transparent as they were.
I still like 4s and 5/5s. After that they prefer the route of earning more cash than provide quality hardware that is priced just right.
iPhone 6 and above does feel like Android phone's design with Apple logo stamped onto the back. Not that I'm criticizing Apple's hardware quality. I tried iphone 7 and it wrecked my outlook contacts and even refused to sync correctly.
Their camera is good but I prefer manual mode to custom tune whilst taking picture.
Design wise I prefer Samsung S8 fresh and revamped design. Samsung, Xiaomi and others have outpaced Apple except in Camera and CPU performance.

Hey now, don't turn my words around...My 6s and ipad air 2 are FINE DEVICES! the iphone X is an over priced turd rolled in glitter... As for design, the Samsung is just a generic as the iphone at this point because of the plethora of ME TOO phones. If I was buying strictly from a design standpoint I would buy blackberry, sony and the essential....oh wait, I did buy those! Samsungs devices are boring now, and touchwiz is crap to use compared to other android offerings. Actually out of ALL android based phones, Samsung would be the LAST device I would buy. They are just as full of themselves as apple.

You’d be right if they had been transparent about (1) the fact that they were slowing it down, and (2) the slow-down could be reversed with a battery replacement (free for Apple Care+ purchasers, $79 for everyone else) instead of buying a new $900 phone.

But when people came into Apple stores complaining that their iPhone was slow, and they were encouraged to buy a new $900 phone and not told why their phone was getting slow, all of a sudden that legitimate explanation isn’t enough. ESPECIALLY for Apple Care+ purchasers, who basically had prepaid for a replacement battery if they needed it, and who clearly needed it.

I’m no Apple hater—I’m typing this on an iPad 5—but Apple messed up big time here.

I agree they should have made this public by notification etc. AGREE 100%. But to say they intentionally did this to make people buy new phones is just drivel. They did it to make the battery life last longer on older devices. They just should have said it publically. Which would spark a whole different crap storm. SO in this case...they are damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Let the users / buyers decide what they want (better battery life or full performance). Nothing is easier than offering both choices in settings. How difficult? If they don't trust their own hardware... Maybe stop sell it? Or make it better?

Told you Apple has lost their quality of making phones and devices after iph 6/6s series came out. It makes current 8/7 phones look like junk.

I said 5s was the best phone design wise. It looked unique and you can recognise its an Apple device looking at back cover and its shape. These days iphones/android can't be distinguished easily unless the back cover has a opening to highlight Apple logo.

Apple Apologizes for Slowing Down Your iPhone – Offers $29 Battery Replacements for Limited Time, New Software Update for Checking Battery Health

"Apple Won’t Stop Slowing Down Your iPhone. But Will Tell You if Your Battery Needs to be Replaced for Optimum Performance."

Furthermore, if you have an iPhone 6 or later at hand,
then you can get a battery replacement from Apple for a price of just $29. That’s $50 off from the usual price of $79 for a battery replacement. What if you have Applephone 5S who use exactly same software SCAM/FRAUD?

Can APPLE let you roll back your phone to normal Performance? :D

Apple has come through with an apology on its website... Is this enough? :D Or can we claim minimum free battery swap?

What if the new battery is misconfigured with bad firmware that might overcharge or have worse battery experience.
If ain't broke don't fix it!

I'll take my chances! All these "scenarios" Can and do happen with ANY device...don't make it sound like apple is the ONLY one's having any issues.

Well its your phone and if the battery is worse simply ask for replacement phone.
Use Wondershare Safe eraser to cleanup logs of phone incase Apple Care check the analytics and logs left behind by iphone 6s and inspect it for any issues. You will not even know if the battery is replaced or not because that low level API to output Model no, serial no is available on Coconut battery on Mac OS.

I do not use MacOS. ha ha! I hate it. Like I said, my devices are running great...if there is a slow down later on, I will replace the batteries and have a super fast phone again for another 2 years!

I wonder what the wear threshold is for throttling, it was not specified by apple or any other report. my SE battery wear is around 40%, debating replacing the battery directly by apple because its impossible to get a hold of an actual new genuine Apple battery and the chinese are always lying about how many mAh is actually in the battery they make
