Has anyone tried Square or any of the similar CC acceptance programs? Looks interesting.

It was pretty cool as he texted me the receipt (via a URL). -

LOVE it. Customers also love it, because they don't have to write a check or have cash on-hand. Just swipe, sign, and email the receipt. -
Despite some people saying otherwise, I found their customer service to be very decent. -
SquareUp looks cool. A shame it seems it's just for US customers.

man, this OtterBox Defender Series Case is a monster; it has made my iPhone 4S into a tank!

is there an app which will let me read comic strips?
thanks. -
With the absinthe jailbreak out for the 4S/iPad 2 (iOS 5.0.1) i'm thinking about doing it; but I think my biggest fear is getting back to factory settings if I need to.
For those who have done this before, how easy is it to jailbreak and get back to factory defaults if one wanted to. And be able to get further updates from apple as if the phone was never jailbreaked? -

^ Cool. Thanks...I never even heard of DFU Mode.
Also I wonder if there is a way to add songs to a playlist directly on the phone itself. Instead of having to use iTunes.
Like while a song is playing from the music Library I just do something to have it added to a particular playlist. -
what are u playing your songs from? if u'r using the iPod app then all u have to do is create a playlist and add whatever songs u want, in the app. -
I think you can restore even without DFU mode by just using iTunes.
I've used Dropbox to add songs to my iPhone but that was a while ago and I forgot if I played it through Dropbox or through the music player. -
(And yes, I do plan on doing the jailbreak this weekend) -
Jailbreaked Friday night...if you are one who craves customization then yea, jailbreaking is for you. No complaints here; currently looking to see if I can get some animated wallpapers for the home screen; and still looking for a way to be able to add songs to a playlist directly on/from phone, instead of having to use iTunes.
From the attached pic I took you could see I already tweaked the default 'slide to unlock' text and also changed the name of my carrier. Not bad for a noob eh! Getting there. : pats self on shoulder: -
congrats! nice apples.

I'd jailbreak, but I need Good For Enterprise on my phone for work, and it won't work if I jailbreak my phone. =/

The rabid fanboys on iPhone Forum are disgusting. Unfortunately, 95% of the members are Apple fanboys that would buy bull crap if there was an Apple logo on it.
Read this thread for example: Who else?! -
^^ i'm more than happy with my un-jailbroken iPhone 4S as well.
-
-
yeah i have all the apps i need, and they work fine. i have yet to see a single good reason to jailbreak but some do and they jailbreak. it doesn't mean you have to force the others to do it too.
-
Oh wow. A feature I've always wanted from day 1. Be able to skip tracks using the volume buttons on 'locked screen'. Thank goodness for jailbreak and activator. Sweet!
-
-
On another note, I really jailbreak for the TetherMe app. -
I meant from the lock screen itself.
-
Esp. useful for me while driving as I use my phone to play my music through the in-car speakers/receiver.
Now when I want to skip, replay or pause a track I don't have to press the home button twice and then touch to perform said actions. I just use the physical 'volume buttons'. Much quicker and safer; don't have to take my eyes off the road. -
I just make Siri change the song for me. =s

The iPhone is the sickest @!#$%.
I now have the 'Android lock screen' on my frickin' iPhone.
I can also now tilt the screen landscape just like the iPad on the homescreen. Even at the lockscreen.
EricaL. I suggest you try it out. It really isn't just about apps at all. Customization to the fullest. That money I spent for this baby is looking real good now.
I was happy before, but now I'm ecstatic.
They're are even 'cracked' versions of apps/tweaks available.

Note that these are older videos and the phone demonstrations looks a little delayed. Everything is faster with the iPhone 4 S. -

Current Jailbreaking software is very stable, when it was first released, not so much. -
every single person that u quoted did something wrong, for whatever reason. -
So I'm now restoring my phone.
After installing the TruPrint ver 5 app from Cydia my phone refused to boot. I see it was trying to to start up, doing multiple reboots but never gets to the log in screen.
Frustrated I just decide to do a restore, (fw downloading atm)
Been having some syncing issues as of late as well. Not sure if the jailbreak was at fault there.
Nevertheless it was fun while it lasted. -
Was gonna use the phone stock at least for a while; but there's no way I can without my tweaks...I miss call bar, the android xt lock, sb settings/toggles, activator, sb rotator...where's that absinthe file...time to jailbreak again.
Giving it another shot.
Edit: Sigh, my baby is back to normal now. Wish there was a way to do a image backup of some sort; to save my jailbroken tweaks/apps. -
Guys what's the user experience on iOS 5 and 3GS? I have a MC version (~2+ yrs old) on 4.3.3 and a slightly dodgy battery (original ) however it works (for a day and a half..3G & data off, brightness at 1/5th, and JB'd with sbsettings...VERY important)
I primarily use it to browse my books and apps at work, and @ home news, endgadget (which stutters A LOT) mail,FB,tapatalk etc...
So what is the general verdict -
I've used iOS 5 on our 3GS at work and it's fine. A bit choppy with things like Notifications Center, but otherwise, it works.
-
what i usually do is i reboot my phone after every big tweak or app download. that way, u make sure that whatever u just did is working fine and dandy before u move on to the next tweak/app. if something seems "not right" then just delete and redownload/reapply. u have to remember that alot of those cydia tweaks are diving deep into the iphone, so u have to take your time and make sure everything is gelling together properly.

Maybe one of you iPhone experts can help me. Just got my new iPhone in the mail and I can't seem to get apps to install. I had a iPhone 4, 3G, and iPad so I'm not completely useless when it comes to iOS, but when I try to install ANY app from the app store it just says "waiting" under the app and never fully installs. I have tried restarting the phone and signing out and back into the app store with my Apple id, nothing seems to work. Never had this problem with any other iOS device I've owned.

It's not just you. App updates have been very slow for me today, too.

Anyone know of a good Navigation app for iOS? Stepmom's frustrated by TeleNav.
-
I use Garmin. Works great, but is pricey. Cheaper than a standalone GPS and the signal isn't quite as good, but it works.

Best Free Ones:
Waze ... Has the best UI and features compared to all the free ones. Depending what area your in, Waze doesn't have the best routing. Especially in high populated areas were street direction changes alot. Routing is improving though. Traffic on Waze beats any other gps app out there. Waze is also the most fun to use.
MapQuest ... 2D only UI but they still did a good job at it. Traffic(which doesn't really work great) is about the only real extra feature. However, it has the absolute best routing I've ever experienced compared to free, paid, and even stand alone gps devices I've tried. Also has very quick rerouting. Voice commands are loud and clear and very intuitive/aware.
Both Waze & Mapquest depend on data for maps. When gps and/or data signal is loss or under an overpass, tunnel, and etc, Mapquest seems to hold it position the longest until signal returns. Most other gps apps free or paid go berzerk after just a short time. Both Waze and Mapquest should work on updating address/destination entry. It can be a hassle with some addresses.
Best paid ones are Navigon and TomTom. I personally like Navigon the best and use it the most. Most people will tell you that it's worth the money. The only real reason I choose Navigon over TomTom is that TomTom likes to force you to stick to the original route vs just rerouting. Takes forever for TomTom to get the hint sometimes. Both Navigon and TomTom store maps so data is not required. One more thing about Navigon that is above the rest is the way you input addresses and destinations vs needing to type everything out. Some other gps apps have a similar way of doing it too, but not as good as Navigon. -
Sounds like I'll let her know to try MapQuest.(reliable routing is very important to her.)
Thanks for the recommendations guys, I'll pass you all Rep when I'm at a computer. -
I got my 4s and I'm wondering about the battery life...
I have all the iCloud features checked including backup, email push off, location services on except for the system features like traffic and whatever.
I have no apps installed so no push from that.
Over the night, I lost 17% of my battery, around a period of 8 hours.
Is this normal for the 4s?
I already did a complete new setup with new firmware (5.01 to some newer 5.01 version) after I got it and it's only a couple of days old, once again with nothing added to the phone. I'm running as stock as possible.
Also, during the day even, I barely use it. I check the usage and it's up to an hour when I literally just made a minute phone call over that period.
Furthermore, I turned off iCloud and location and oddly enough, it didn't seem to help the usage decrease. It's like it's doing something but I can't figure out what. -
