I'm guessing that's why the KM1 bios took a while to come out. It's gonna be worth it soon.

See my pictures further back where I shared images of both sides of the heatsinks.

Every CPU will be different so the only way to be sure would be to remove the heatsink and physically inspect it.

Yes, that is correct. And, each generation it seems to get more difficult than the one before because the cancerous thought process in firmware engineering is metastasizing. There are nasty little turd bombs hidden in places that only an evil bastard would hide them. Perhaps they think it is cute or clever to release feces on the public. To be useful in the most meaningful way, firmware testers have to be unmerciful, thorough and aggressive in their testing and overclocking to uncover those nasty things.

    8700K working in P7xx DM2/3.....
Which means 870Dm and KM1 should also be possible...

So what you're saying is... with about 300 system modifications, modified heatsinks, a shiny new Prema™ BIOS, CPU and a razor blade and a prayer, three solid days of cursing both intel and Clevo, and about 10 cups of coffee to go with your covfefe lake, we might have 8700K working and properly cooled in a P870DM3?

(No I'm probably not going to try it)

Don't forget the P870DM-G. You know, the black sheep that was betrayed by its creator and treated like a red-headed stepchild on the GPU upgrades, and left for dead. It's getting tested for KBL-R BIOS as well. Not because Clevo is awesome, but definitely because Brother @Prema is. Yeah... There's gonna be a day of reckoning.

Odd that mine doesn't have the -G at the end but still has G-sync.

So far, minus laptop temps and the annoying ass fans on the psu, I'm loving this thing.

After a very long battle, the EVOC P870KM1 Prema BIOS has been released. Fortunately, the battles won there will make the EVOC High Performance Systems P870TM1 Prema BIOS release much faster. For those buying the EVOC High Performance Systems P870TM1 now, we will reach out to you once the Prema BIOS is released and flash it for you remotely.

This panel, the B173QTN01.x. It's most likely going to be the B173QTN01.0... see if you can make them source a B173QTN01.4 or later revision for you. You want this.

Cancer firmware of the most diabolical sort. Correcting many serious firmware engineering flaws that are driven by fear and ignorance on the part of ODMs. Without our knight in shining armor ( @Prema) these glorious beasts are all castrated and have stunted performance. I feel very sorry for people that make purchase decisions that do not include PremaMod goodness. They are stuck with expensive junk that will never be all it can be.

Clevo is still using the B173QTN01.0. Since that is what Clevo provides, we cannot source something different without charging for that upgrade.

Can you spot the difference in the Specs?
    http://www.panelook.com/B173QTN01.4_AUO_17.3_LCM_overview_31906.html
    http://www.panelook.com/B173QTN01.0_AUO_17.3_LCM_overview_30300.html

As has been discussed ad nausium in this forum, the banding issue, for most people, is a non-issue because you have to be way up close to the screen to see it. Therefore you would have to pay over $100 to either install the .4 yourself, or more if we were to offer it as an upgrade.

Let us know if you think it would be worth it.

I didn't think it would have been free, actually. But you would likely need to flash the EDID for him so it worked correctly. But it'd be an upgrade he would want I'm sure.

Oh joy, one is not matte... Also AUO needs to stop these colour gamut lies, those screens will never hit 72% NTSC

The banding is real on these panels. I am used to my TN G-sync monitor but at first it was really noticeable. I think my eyes adapted now and a few days later its not that bad.

And that, dear Donald, would be why I have the 1080p panel.

And severely why I wish the Chi Mei 1080p TN one was available at my purchase time. I even requested it because I had confirmation it would fit, and was told it isn't supported. But then people started selling it after.

I'm pondering through my specs on this laptop and I'm wondering, does both of these 1080 cards running at x8 bottleneck them? Are they getting used to their full potential at x8 speed vs x16? That's one thing I like about my desktop is the fact I have 40 pcie lanes, so both my cards on there run x16. But I feel like I read somewhere a while back that even x8 speed doesn't get used fully, so I'm curious on yall's opinion in regards to that, but on the P870TM1.
