PCIe 3.0 x8/x8 is a bottleneck for SLI when playing games that use TAA and/or multiple frame data rendering techniques at native 4K. G-Sync also has additional PCIe BW overhead in SLI.

Update: It looks like 4.3Ghz will be the realistic daily driver. In a 27C room, it reaches around 78-82C when playing Civ6/TW:WH2 for 6hrs.

I would absolutely be delighted to have the option to pay for the .4 panel upgrade.

Stock turbo should be 4.3 on all cores, and as we all know, turbo is intended speed and if you're not turboing something's wrong :D

I know we already discussed that before... I want to understand where the lack of the controller is from. Do these machines not have a slot specifically that is Optane Ready since the KM1?

I'm running the stock BIOS on mine until I get the prema bios. Machine runs GREAT. Got it overclocked to a little over 5ghz. No overclock on the GPU. Its faster then my main desktop machine and that thing is a quite a beast!

Stats for your system? Also, take a look at mine. (in signature) Are there any improvements that I can make to this? I bought the SLI version for the Vapor Chamber and for "future proofing"...are there any other changes that I should consider? They haven't started work on my system as there are backordered parts. I believe work begins on Monday.

This will be my main gaming beast and DJ laptop... If anyone else can offer up additional suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

Why you using it as a dj laptop? I also dj and wouldnt want to risk taking with me such an expensive system to gigs. Dont see need to to lug around such a big and heavy laptop. Personally i have a small light not so powerful second laptop for gigs since programs like traktor dont use much resources anyways.

@Ogg Damn! You have your 8700 running at 5Ghz?! Did you get a "lottery" cpu or is this with an undervolt? What are your temps like? I'm looking into a similar setup (without as much memory) but, if I can get those type of overclocks with reasonable temps then, that's good $. Also, I noticed this is w/o the vapour chamber. One of the reasons I choose the SLI version is b/c they have the VC and figured this was about as "Future proof" as I could get given current tech. But, shyt, if there is a way to lower cost and increase performance, I'm all ears fam.

optane m.2 module would fit in any SSD slot. i believe the other 2 slots says SSD and doesnt say optane but they can still work with pcie devices, which optane m.2 is still pcie and should still work. might need a confirmation from @Meaker@Sager tho

Is the CPU core clock stable during stress test like Fire Strike ? Or you can see some dips at the end of the test ?
MSI gt73/75vr are stable but other laptops, including previous Clevo laptops had throttling with stock BIOS even when temp were normal. Did Clevo bring this "cool feature" to this New model too ?

Speaking of M2 slots, I think I am going to get another M2 SSD to put in this beast. But I am conflicted between getting an nvme ssd or a sata III ssd, because I am not sure if the 16 lanes the 1080's are using are shared with nvme lanes or not. Anyone here know?

Obviously I'd rather not take away from the gpu's lanes. I've searched online but have gotten mixed results from my search.
I'm leaning towards just a 1TB Sata III ssd instead of nvme.

I'll do some more testing when I'm bored at work tonight. My irqs become less than or equal to beyond 5.2ghz. 5.1 or under is perfectly stable. I overwatch some pubg at 120hz for hours like it ain't no ones bidness! Sitting at about 70c with fans on high on the GPU with no overclock. Processor at about 50c.

I'm convinced that 120hz is like cheating at this point...

That's dope. I'm figuring mine should be around 75-80c then since that extra 1080 is gonna add some heat to the mix. That's encouraging AF tho. Thx

Let me know how your temps fare. You have the same exact setup (cpu & gpu) I have on my P870TM1. I plan on doing more testing, to include temps, when I get back to the states, as well as post internal pictures for yall since I'm opening it open to add an ssd and my correct speed of ram.

I have an EVO SSD (not the m2) in my desktop, I really like it. Thought about getting an actual one to put in this to replace the mech one from HID that is in it. But I'll most likely go with an M2 version.

Well, I've not made my ram or ssd purchase yet, as I'm still on the fence with the type of ssd I want(see a few posts back, SATA III vs nvme), but I probably will within the next few days. As for the ram, I'm gonna wait til I get back because I need to see the exact kind of replacement HID will be sending me in the mail, so that I can order the same exact one. I'm picky lol

Having a desktop at 60hz and this beast at 120hz, I'll go ahead and tell you now that I thoroughly enjoy this screen ALOT more. Grant you, I game at 4k on my desktop, but still. I get 40-55fps at best on most major titles.

Then at 3k on this laptop, I get well north of 75fps, usually 100-120fps. And man is it enjoyable!

    So there's my $0.02. :D

The diff isn't as obvious as 30Fps vs 60 Fps...but, when you see 60fps next to 120fps, there is mos def a difference.

My work monitor doesn't do 120Hz but, you get the point...

I did say my fans are as high as they would go. You musta missed dat. The games I play dont use alotta CPU. It sits at around 50c with absolutely no issues. This not a difficult concept. I guess I dont understand why people are so astounded by this. I havent even done anything special to get it there AND I dont have prema BIOS yet.

I'll post screenshots in a bit.
