OK. Thanks. So, would the P270WM have adequate cooling for the heat generated by clocking 4 memory modules this high?

Memory is not really a big contributor to heat on its own. The only heat to deal with would be additional heat off the CPU from the memory controller working harder.
-
Just thinking out loud here...
RAM must also have a heat threshold before its transistors/capacitors run into problems? What about desktop RAM counterparts which come w/ heat sinks/shields? If RAM is running at 1.867GHz or possibly being pushed to 2GHz, heat is not any kind of problem on RAM w/ out any cooling?
Aren't the 4 RAM modules located close to the CPU on this model? Perhaps there is a constant flow of air that keeps things cool. Or on the other hand, as scook9 states, perhaps there's nothing to worry about. -
What I'm concerned about is the fans blowing out the bottom of the laptop. I plan to use my laptop at both work and home. At work the laptop will be sitting on a desk, and at home it will mostly be sitting on my lap.
Judging by the photos posted here and in vendor's galleries it looks like there is adequate ventilation to the rear. But the fans worry me a bit. I wonder if setting it on my lap is going to be a very bad thing to do. I certainly don't want to burn up the guts of the laptop (or my legs). -

Thats what I thought.... thanks. -

I have monitored ram temps in my desktop and under the most demanding loads it was still cool to the touch. I am sure there are extreme cases where being cooler has helped, but for 99% of users I would bet it makes no difference -

Maybe this is a repost, but I saw this on Engadget:
Eurocom Panther 4.0 is the mirror universe's version of an Ultrabook -- Engadget
This comment in particular:
In a world of shiny, anorexic machines, one notebook stands alone.
Where many are thin, it wears its girth with the swaggering pride of a sumo wrestler. Where many are glossy, it remains without reflection, inscrutable, revealing nothing about its user. Where many struggle with wimpy, anemic pixel-slingers, our hero buries them all in polygons while eating a sandwich and dropping Facebook posts that you could string barbed-wire on. Only one lap can be topped with this machine, so mighty is its power. And when He boots it up, all the lights in town dim, and mothers hide their children and men close their shutters, for they know Chuck Norris is on the Interwebs and they can only be as safe as he allows. -
talking about ram, i always buy those heatsink looks cool hehe.......how i wish former hyperx hs, blue change to black!!!
btw, i stick thin hs on gtx580m back side vram, i just dont know why no any hs for back side vram, p270wm seems the same...
now gddr5 is the fastest vram in laptop platformthose gddr3/ddr3/ddr2 have vram all coverd and gddr5 have nothing? hope resellers ask clevo about this

Does anybody know if the 3D screen on P270HM would be identical to the one Clevo already offers?
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
We don't know yet, but it is unlikely since we are not offering it for preorder yet.
If we were going to use the same 3D screen as we do on the Sager NP8170 it would seem likely that we would already be offering it on the Sager NP9270. -

The problem is to implement 3D-support with SLI. For X-7200 there was no point in adding 3D support as you would only be able to use one card in which case you would have bought P170HM instead. The same logic applies for P270WM.
As for the screen itself it could be another model but I see no reason for it unless screen technology has progressed a lot in the last year. So the quality of a P170HM3 screen and P270WM3 screen should be the same. -
why? my x7200 runs good with external acer 120hz 3dvision, sli 580m both card load well under 3d mode
(btw for 480m sli, i wait so long until 485m's driver out, finally both cars load under 3d) -

for you guys who want HDMI in they make HDMI Express Video Capture cards for express slot 54/34 slot. The NP9270 has the slot located in the front of the laptop.

The only problem I'm seeing from the reviews is the latency. -

It was in the Aftermarket Upgrades forums. Let me see if I can find the thread.

Well, seems like no revolution regarding 3D laptop displays in here, lightboost technology is still far away... Clevo should ship their 3D equipped laptops with the new Nvidia 3d Vision Glasses v2 at least) On the positive side, if GTX680M become some 20-30% faster then HD 7970M, enabling SLI could result in awesome 3D game experience on a laptop/ext 3dtv with any game totally maxed out!

im lookforward to the 4 fans + 2 powersupply + coverterbox lol

Does this have a mPCI-e slot(Data) for the internal TV-Tuner or does it even have a TV-Tuner at all?
-
babyhemi, very nice, thanks!
mySN.de the first real-world P270HM video! Is there any keyboard backlit brightness level regulator? Dimming it half the way or smth, like there's on AW's.. -
Any news concerning the AMD Radeon HD 6990M? Thanks!
-
@Arrows: so far there is no option with AMD 6990M planned... -

Good job mySN.de -
We've seen so many MBP wannabe's but this is the first AW wannabe in terms of lights, lol. I do like the fact that you can change the backlight intensity. -
We have the i7-3820 (Baselevel i7) up on there now, pair that with a 6990m or two and you get a reasonable price for one of these beasts
-
All the flashing lights are cool, but all I want is just a simple backlit keyboard. Don't really need a light show that looks like the Vegas strip. I'll never use it... except maybe when showing off the new toy when I get it in March.
My current Asus does the same thing and I played with it for about 5 minutes over 3 years ago. -
apparently i9 is the i7 extreme processor (990x, 995x, 3960x etc)
few questions though, does the backlit keyboard have white light options? i really hate to have laptop emits any light other than white.
also, the chasis, is it 100% plastic? or like the alienware m18x, the outermost pieces are metal? -
White is there. -
http://www.mythlogiccorp.com/configure.php?id=93
BTW, you seem to be the only ones offering the dual 6990s... -
overall seems to be around same cost i guess, i did like their lesser cost warranty services + cpu upgrades. however the graphics card for 580s are way too over priced though.
anywayyyy, from just photo pictures i cant really tell if laptop is 100% plastic chasis, does anyone have info regards to this? or partial metal? -
(6 cores + 6 threads)

i figured out vga hs is slightly different between x7200 & p270, p270's fan location is outter than x7200, so if put x7200 hs on p270 will cause copper fin cant seal with case & fan vent dont fit
but if p270's vga hs dont limit the inductor area will be ok -
Is this a PCI-Express 3.0 laptop like its X79 Express Chipset?
-
I've seen a few configurations now and is there ANYONE offering 32gb ram thats NOT 1333mhz, i would need at least 1600mhz but in that range its only 16gb ram =/

i dont care about anything else really except gpu/cpu/memory and HDD slot has to be pci 3
