Has anyone tried connecting a BT device to the Killer 1525AC?
It doesn't seem to be working for me.

The adapter seems to be turned on. Is there a keyboard key to turn it off and on? I've tried turning it on and off via the adapter window.

I have the feb 10 driver downloaded from the killer website for bt as well as the killer suite. Uninstalled and installed multiple times with no effect. No errors came up during installation either.

Not sure what else i can try.

Hi all, new P670SG owner here also experiencing random fps drops.

From what I've seen earlier in the thread, updating the stock BIOS should fix it?
I am currently on BIOS 1.03.03

Prema's stock BIOS has two folders, BIOS and vBIOS, is updating vBIOS also required?

    Thanks.

I have/had the same issue as well as fan speed pulsing. Last night I upgraded to 16gb's of 1866MHz ram as well as the newest prema BIOS. Unfortunately I didn't do much gaming to see if it resolved the random drop in frames.

I will will test it out tonight and report back later or in the morning.

Nope, still have the same random frame drop issue. Of course this is with Arma 3 which is just a horribly optimized game to begin with when it only utilizes 40-60% of one CPU core and 30-40% GPU. Let me know if you have any luck.

If it does not do it in other games then it is a software/driver issue.

When it pulses what temperature is it at? It may be settling on a threshold of fan speed.

It would happen, or I would notice it, when idle. Temp probably in the 50c range. A few others seem to have the same fan problem. I'll report later if the bios update fixed it.

The games in which I'm having the fps drop is TF2, L4D2 etc.

I just tried Company of Heroes, same random fps drop.

The interesting thing is that if you play on battery, the framerate is capped at 60fps but there's no random drops.

I guess I'll try BIOS update next...

I've tried both the drivers from cd and from the killer site. Both install correctly and find the adapter but can't find my headphone when in discovery mode. Hmmm for bt is it just a wire connected to the wireless card? Maybe that came loose or needs to be reseated?

Do you have any other BT device that you can try to pair? That could rule out an incompatibility with your headset.

Obvious question, but did you make sure to put headphones into pairing mode? Wouldn't believe how many people don't know or forget that step. Been many a people's hero for the day because of that.

Well I just updated stock BIOS / EC and that fixed it, not a single fps drop now, CPU speeds are still fine too, it turbos / speedsteps up to 3.5GHz still.

Use the correct stock BIOS file from Premamods website (eg P6xxSG for 670SG) and follow his included instructions and all should go fine.
In the middle of the upgrade it might say something about a filename being different and wether or not you want to continue, just say yes.

Guys I've posted in the p650G thread but I own the 17 incher so maybe I'll have more luck here, sorry for the spam!

I have a big issue. After two weeks of using my laptop (from XMG) I had to send it back for RMA as the touchpad stopped working and the keyboard started stuttering. They had to change the chassis and clean the keyboard connectivity and have received the laptop back from RMA this morning.
Before I had sent the laptop back I had played around 60 hours of dying light of max settings and it never dropped below c. 50 fps. Now it has mini freezes and stutters/drops to 1-5 fps multiple times a minute, average fps is also lower. Game is unplayable.
The only time I had seen this before was when I had forgot to plug the laptop to a wall socket. Now I did check that the laptop is plugged and is on the "high performance" plan. Any idea what could be wrong? I've noticed that in their attempt at fixing the laptop they've downgraded my EC from 1.03.04 to 1.03.03.
Added to the fact that my fingerprint scanner doesn't work anymore and that the bios image has changed I'm starting to get very pissed at the number of inconveniences I've had with a £2/$3k laptop...

    Config is i7-4720, 980m, 850pro evo.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Maybe try updating to the newest stock BIOS? I say stock BIOS because i believe you are able to downgrade (clarification, please) to previous versions if need be.

Ok after reading the whole thread I'm guessing it's the EC. I've found an EC update on the xmg website, can anyone point me to a link that explains how to install it?

Check out Prema's guide here. Although it's in reference to the Prema BIOS mod it should still be relevant for updating stock.

Do I need to update the bios if I update the EC or can I only do the EC?

I just deleted the graphics drivers and downloaded the ones from sagers site for my 980m. The stuttering happens way less and is way less noticeable when playing ESO maxxed. Off hook i drop to like 30 fps but stay at 40 most of the time so it worked for me. Of course before i even upgraded the drivers with that stupid Nvidia app i never had issues. I deleted all drivers, used sagers and bam all good

I've tried pairing it to my phones with no success. Don't have any other BT device that I can think of to try and pair with.

Yes, I put the headphones into pairing mode. I know it happens, the most obvious things eludes us sometimes haha
My uncle had a problem with his speakers and tried going out to buy new ones but still it didn't give off any sound. I went over and saw speakers were muted. Fun times! lol

Not sure what else I can try. I have the newest BIOS and EC, not the perma one but from the manufacturer.
I've tried reinstalling drivers from the discs that were provided and through the Killer website.
I've tried reconnecting the wires also.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for all the help so far

If you don't have an OS ready to install once you get the computer you'll want to add that. Our Sager listings do not include it by default.

If you just run the 4k screen at 1080p it's fine but that does defeat the point a bit. He means if you scale the UI up to be usable at 4K not all elements are correctly set to the same size.

    Hi everybody,

Been lurking this forum for the last 24 hours and want to thank everybody for their informative posts. Been such help as I research! However, I have one concern:

I've read two users have had CPU temp issues...90-95C. Ouch! That's unacceptable in my world...approaching a frying temp and at the very least a level that will degrade the cpu over time. Did any of you guys get that fixed? Is it a constant issue that you're dealing with? I'd have bought by now if not for this (not-so) small issue!

    Continued thanks...

Those temps would be when stress testing, very unlikely to achieve in real world usage. The tests are designed specifically to push the hardware to their limits. These are very well cooled and unlikely that you'll have any issues with cooling or temps.

Thanks for the reply. I've hunted around for stress temps, but this is what has me concerned:

Sounds like real world use that is up near damaging temperatures.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY like these computers in every way, save for weight (which is good, just not the best) and these scary cpu temps. I don't understand why they doubled down on gpu fans instead of cpu, as the cpu is the area that takes the heat hit first. I'd love to hear from people that have addressed this issue and/or put the cpu under extended load without breaking 85C.

    TIA

BF4 is a very CPU intensive game and so not surprising to get high temps in it being one of the more demanding games available. If the CPU temps were so hot that they were causing issues with reliability you'd be seeing a lot more posts about that. They don't typically get that hot.

    Derek,
Thanks for the reply again, but I have to mention that your last two responses contradict each other. One stated, "unlikely to achieve in real world usage," while the most recent said, "not surprising to get high temps..." I appreciate the attention, but must question if you're trying to provide me with helpful information or just make a sale. I was leaning towards purchasing with Xotic if I ended up with a Sager, but sadly this interaction has pushed me away a bit. Can any consumers speak of in depth of personal experience regarding cpu temps under load on the P67x specifically?

It's not contradictory, that is taking one extreme case and presenting it as the norm for the usage as a whole. I'm just saying that those sorts of temps are not common and that this machine is very well cooled. Yes there are cases where a single usage can push temps higher, but that is not the case typically and should not experience any trouble with temps. There are numerous reports of usage where the temps are in the 60-70c range for CPU when gaming as an example. We're here simply to answer questions, not necessarily to make sales, and why I was responding. I'm sure other owners will be able to confirm this information.

    =/=

But thank you for the further clarification. All I'm after is consumer confirmation that heavy load sits in 60-70C, as my general usage will be heavy gaming...I'm concerned putting down $2k+ and already stressing my brand new system. Especially since BF4 is a late-2013 title and we can only expect titles to become more resource intense as time goes by. Thanks again!

I ordered my P670-SG from xoticPC on 2/24, past ETA, still waiting. They did have a notice that it was expected to be backordered until 3/10 when I ordered, but no word as of tonight. When it finally comes I'll run it through benchmarks and stress tests and try to get you some "real world" information. It's pretty common w/ any gaming to max out the cpu for long periods of time, so an extended super-pi test should yield some results. I can throw BF4, Crysis, and whatever else anyone would like at it. I would expect laptop fans to keep up w/ extended maxed out CPU, any gaming-capable laptop should be designed with that in mind.

You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.

My main concern is degradation that will be difficult to measure. 90C+ is never healthy for hardware over repeated long sessions, which is probably the kind of use I'll be putting into it. The value that Clevo offers still may be enough for me to take that risk, but boy am I on the fence. Sorry for your delay--I hope it arrives soon!

I've never hit above 70c maxxed ESO and that game is intense so, there's that. My GPU never goes over 60 or near it usually

I've played Rust for the past few days and it seems to be the most taxing game i've thrown at my NP8671 yet. I use this laptop cooler with an inline USB rocker switch that i modded to turn the fans on/off. The first time i played the game i ran it for a good 30-45 mins before realizing i forgot to turn on the cooler. If i remember correctly the cpu temp was around 76-78c when i tabbed out to check. Once i kicked the cooler fans on i think it settled somewhere around 72-74c. Not sure about the GPU temp as i didn't have it set to display in systray, only CPU.

Now, i'm not sure how loaded the the CPU/GPU was as i couldn't get MSI Afterburner/RivaTuner's OSD to work in-game for the life of me. Keep in mind that i had the laptop fans on auto. You could always hit Fn+1 to force the laptop fans to run at full speed. That would certainly bring the temps down at least another 6-8c, at least.

If i remember tonight i'll run the game without the cooler fans and note the difference between auto & full laptop fans. I'll also try to get info on CPU/GPU load.

Many thanks, UPS and elwood. All I'm hearing now is, "The water's fine...come join us!" Looks like I may just have to jump in. I'm on the road 90%+ of the year, so while a notebook cooler sounds like a necessity, it sure isn't convenient to lug around. =/ Can I ask what TIM are you currently using? Stock? IC Diamond from reseller? Aftermarket like Prolimatech?

My NP8671 is stock except for RAM & SSD upgrades. I don't think you will have an issue running any game with everything stock. And if you don't mind the noise and extra wear/tear just hit Fn+1 and I guarantee you that the temps will be within an acceptable range, no external cooler needed.

Edit: if you're worried about hardware failures you can get a 3yr warranty from Sager for only $149 & you have 90 days after shipping to purchase it.

Side question for vendors: if you purchase the 3yr warranty does it add to the default 1yr warranty for a total of 4yrs or is it 3yrs total?

Great warranty question---I'm also curious about the answer. I'm not concerned so much with failure as I am degradation, which is impossible to quantify. The 4-5 year laptop slowly dies off into a 2-3 year laptop from heat strain, but there's no way to see it happening.

There is a risk with this due to the BGA components... However, it's highly unlikely.. You'll be fine temperature wise even without a cooler.. I would order it with stock paste and replace the paste on your own with Gelid GC Extreme... It's worth learning how to do this as every few months, it's good to open up your laptop and blow the dust out of the wents with compressed air!

In gaming intensive situations (star citizen maxed) my cpu maxes out at 88C and GPU at 92C. Does seem... high. This is with the 17inch np8672.

The metal casing can get ridiculously hot compared to a traditional plastic one.

I just played Rust for a bit to check temps under different conditions. I believe i got up to 82c on the CPU with my laptop cooler on and fans on auto. I will post some screenshots tomorrow of the different conditions.

As far as the metal getting hot, it seems to only occur on the left side of the keyboard between ESC and shift, getting cooler towards left Ctrl. I'm not a thermal transfer expert but i would assume that it's better on the hardware to transfer some of the heat to the metal than plastic insulating it. For me, personally i'm not bothered at all by that portion heating up. The wrist rests stay nearly ambient temp for me and i didn't really notice the metal part heating up until you said something. I guess it depends on hand/finger placement.
