Ok guys, I received my 670SG 2 days ago and ... it is soooo awesome!!!
Just tell me what you want to know.

I think everone wants benches and stuff... I've been struggling getting Windows on there in UEFI mode, that kept me from doing that.
-
I have three bench results for you:
- CS:GO (ultra settings) --> Max fps 256, Average: 167 fps
- Company of Heroes 2 (Ultra settings) --> Min fps: 29, Average fps: 42, Max fps: 63
- Sniper Elite 3 (ultra settings) --> Average fps: 121 fps, Max fps: 244
And guys ... it is soooo quit in a long gaming sessions unbelievable!!!IceBounds likes this. -
Nice numbers, how about some temps while gaming?
-
Max CPU Temp (while benching with XTU) was 89-92°C (very short temp pike). In games the CPU reaches normaly between 75-79°C.
Here some pics:

Good thing on XMG, all drivers are on an additional usb-drive coming with the system...
installing windows 8.1 pro works like a charm, if you make your thumb drive with the iso downloader from microsoft...
got a game voucher from nvidia, still downloading far cry 4... -

How is fan noise under load? Temps seem great I hope fan noise is like its smaller brother.
-

If you try Prime95 it gets very loud,
inside of non demanding Games like diablo 3 you dont hear the fan,
in far cry you can here the fan, but not disturbingly loud... hard to explain as it depends on your disturbing barrier... -

The fan noise is very like its little brother

it would be fantastic laptop if the cpu and gpu are not soldered!! now i'm confused which should i buy P650sg or P157sm-a with 980m and 4810mq...ahhh
-
guys... is P670SA?
è天Clevo -
I'm curious, how thick is it at its thickest point?
And how long does the battery last while web-surfing? It's Optimus enabled, so I'm expecting at least four hours.
EDIT: Unrelated to my question, but I found this video which showcases the Heaven benchmark running on the P670SE with results.Last edited: Dec 28, 2014 -
I am wondering why this is kind of a slow thread. this laptop is has the perfect specs and weight and yet I see only few people posting here compared to other threads. I really don't know if having soldered GPU is a deal breaker but I don't suspect a brand like Clevo would ship out faulty chips (need advise here).
I was first aiming at getting the MSI GS70 stealth and had to chew the 970m inside until this lappy showed up with 980m and only 6.8 lb ! what else could a gamer need (well, except for more screen options..) -

Looking purchase with tax refund.
But does the 4GB vs 8GB really matter on the 980m?
Could anyone pull some benchmarks or game play between the two I'm having zero luck.
Thank you -
I somehow missed to post my P650SG Shadow of Mordor benchmarks with my review, but between the MSI with 8GB 980m vs Clevo P650SG with 4GB 980m, the Clevo performed slightly better with the Ultra benchmark:
25.5 FPS for Clevo P650SG
22.3 FPS for MSI GT72
23.8 for P377SM-A with single 980m
And it showed nearly 6GB vRAM consumed on the MSI.
So for that one benchmark, it clearly wasn't an issue. -
can anyone tell me is there any major difference between 8671 and 8651 , other than screen size and subwoofer?
which is best option in terms of cooling

4GB good enough for this task?
Also I think if start going toward 4K and above it may be time for a desktop.
Also thank you for the reply. Love your reviews.! -

So my P670SG is a pretty fabtastic machine, but.. the screen is kinda so-so.
It's a ChiMei Innolux TN panel that has pretty fast response times, but only 262k colors.
I'd much rather have a nice LG IPS panel with a large multitude of colors and I'll even take the response time hit for it.
If you look at the initial specs you'll notice they are both LVDS interface screens. You'd think LVDS is LVDS, pop open the screen presto-chango and Bob's your uncle and a billion colors are yours.
But that would be too simple. It seems the LG screen has a 50 pin interface and another 20 pin interface it seems for lighting. The ChiMei screen uses a 40 pin interface. Crap...
Would there be such a simple solution as a different cable and that's it? LVDS is still LVDS...
Seems like we're not able to get IPS on our systems unless someone can figure out how to hook up that double connector 50 pin screen to a 40 pin interface, or to mount an eDP screen to our LVDS system. The P650 has eDP and the motherboards are almost identical so there must be a way...
Edit:
1. It seems that LG has a proprietary LVDS connector for IPS, which may be this 50/20 pin variant...
2. My theory is that for every pin-count LVDS screen there is a proper cable that would fit our system. Can anyone tell me if they have any other screen than the 40 pin ChiMei? For example the AUOptronics has 30 pins... but a weird thick back shield.
Anyone?Last edited: Dec 29, 2014 -
Is it that better to have an IPS over a faster response screen? maybe for professional work, but gaming..? I've read many people wishing the 120hz screens are back for this generation of laptops especially since the 9xxm cards are pretty capable. I myself have a 120hz screen but I honestly cant tell as I don't have a lower refresh screen to compare to. so I am bit confused here.
-
The IPS screen with 35ms wouldn't even give you 30fps so it'd be not a whole lot of use to have a 60Hz panel and a GPU that can drive double those frames. The ChiMei can do 166fps based on the Tr/Td values of 2/6ms alone... Perhaps I should focus my efforts more on trying to get that 60Hz scanning frequency up...
Are there any tools for that?
Buuuuut... as a tweaker I just wanna be ABLE to put in something sweeter than 262k colors. You know, in case I become an old fart or something. -
tijgert, you said eDP is another option, Does the P670SG support eDP panels. if so can I put in my old 120hz panel which I guess uses eDP?

I'm really looking hard at the NP8672. I've had my NP8150 for 3 years now. Time to upgrade.
Looks like it's time to put this NP8150 up for sale. -
Yup 10 char

Sorry for my poor english but please let me know about built quality? They said it's all-alloy but bottom part may be plastic.
And how about power supply unit. Is 180W is enough while asus g751's using 230W?
Anyone try more power psu and how about performance then? -
You can use a Dell 230/240W PSU but you need to get a converter connector... Look around, it's quite well documented..
P.S: Actually ask about this in the 8651/P650SE/SG owners lounge as this has been mentioned there before of what parts you need.. -
Small addendum to the PSU subject. Got my BIXpower X75 in today... seems the PA-19 plug on my unit is 9.0mmx6.0mm is NOT 7.5mmx5.0mm.
Keep an eye on getting the right plug size or else the X75 won't fit.Last edited: Jan 1, 2015 -
Just got my NP8672 and so far LOVE it. It blows away my 2013 Macbook Pro. I installed a 480GB SSD and 16GB additional ram making it 24GB. All the games I've tried runs on highest settings with buttery smooth frame rates. The only downside is that since I haven't done PC gaming in awhile, I had the impression that it would be a huge leap from Xbone and PS4 (which I have both of and play the latest games on it). None of the games I've tried look any better than they do on Xbone and PS4. Titanfall looks about the same and even framerate doesn't look any different. Assassin's creed unity looks only marginally better. Shadow of Mordor framerate is much better but otherwise not much difference. Definitely not the leap I thought I would get from these games.
Here are some internal pictures with the back removed to install the ram and ssd.

Re: Build quality.
I recently bought 2 NP8671/Clevo P670SEs.
I can confirm that the bottom panel is indeed alloy (cold to the touch vs plastic when left in a cool room).
On both units the right front foot does not touch when placed on a flat surface (confirmed this on multiple flat surfaces).
The beveled corners, though unique, are a poor design choice. The topmost inside corners are very sharp. It is only a matter of time before someone sustains a nasty injury by accidentally bumping into them.
There is a chrome accent in the back which adds to the visual appeal, but digs into one's hand when carrying the unit when closed and vertical.
These are the first non-Mac notebooks I've ever owned that remained planted solidly on the desk when opening with one hand. Nice weight balance here, and another confirmation of the bottom panel being alloy.
The battery is not easily accessible, so one must remove the entire bottom panel to access it. This is something I haven't encountered with my previous notebooks. I am hoping that the power button can get me out of any hard freezes.
Overall the units feel very solid. I expect that they will hurt me before I hurt them. -

Some are pc exclusive, others not. But remember that even if a console gives you the same eye candy than a pc, the pc has an advantage concerning resolution, frame rate, aa options, etc.Last edited: Jan 2, 2015 -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Exactly, consoles give you a 720 -> 900p resolution experience at 30fps often (especially as the resolution is higher) where as the 980M is going to give you 1080p at 60fps with some AA.
