No major flaws:
-heat and loudness of fans are ok: obviously the system produces a lot of heat under load and the fans get rid of that - but if you are just working the machine is near silent.
-stock display is very good and depending on reseller various options for even better screens are there.
-some reviewers perceive the keyboard and touchpad as weak: they may not be the best available but do the job quite well - first day you struggle with the roughness of the touchpad because of the rubberised finish, but this improves with use as the surface smoothes out
- weight and size of the machine are ok: big but not bulky: you could carry it to work everyday, but maybe not tug it under your arm for a meeting - biggest complaint here is the power adapter (I got a smaller one for use on the road - due to the lower wattage have to be careful keeping the monster in check though)
- battery life is ~3 hour for wifi browsing (myself I have measured 3.5 hours, other configurations may get less)

Hi guys, just ordered an NP8150-S1
Specs:
AMD Radeon 6970M
1080P FHD Stock Glossy
i7 2630QM
8GB RAM @ 1333MHz
500GB Momentus XT
My first Sager/Clevo (and my second notebook thus far) -
Finally I got my dream system
This is my second Clevo System in last 2 months. I bought the first NP5160 straight from Sager on Mar 15, and returned it within 2 weeks time because of bad customer service from Sager with my BSD issue.
After doing round the clock research and talking to most of them, I picked Mythlogic to be my next seller. Also most of the forum members had good reviews about Mythlogic. This time I picked Pollux 1611 ( NP8150 ) because of the short coming I saw in NP5160.
During the sales process, Josh was very very helpful in answering my 20+ emails and 10+ calls within the acceptable time, and they processed my order within the original ETA.
When I got my system last Friday, I felt the personal touch Mythlogic put into my system like I am their best customer. Regarding the system, it’s like most of the reviews, the best. Very few gripes
1. Flimsy ODD ( LG ) ==> Which I know aheadof time.
2. Frequency of FAN running while normal use
The system and the Mythogic impressed me so far, hope Mythlogic continue the same personal touch to all their customers and continue the same for my post sales warranty period and support issues.
I have to buy one more Clevo for my family in near future, now I know whom to call without any further research. -

Has anyone gotten their 8150 with ATI card?
-
If you order your notebook with a BR player, the program should be provided for you.
I believe Sager includes PowerDVD8. -
What type of interface do I need if I want to buy an Intel 6300 wireless module? I found one on eBay at around $30 but it says the interface is Half PCI-E. Is this the right interface?

So, I just got mine today. It's been amazing so far. Been playing Crysis all day. But I have a few issues.
1. My Microsoft Wireless Mouse 3000 drops out at random. It's not the battery or the wireless signal. It's also not the USB 2/3.0 ports, they all work fine with no issues.
I installed the mouse/driver software properly. The machine recognizes the mouse. It just won't work.
2. How do you properly use the Protector Suite for fingerprint scanning? Every time I tried to scan, it was either "bad quality" or "too short". -

-
I don't think my fan ever shuts off except when it goes into sleep mode. Thankfully it's not loud. -
You need to update your drivers from the Realtek website. Mine sounded like crap until they were updated. THX has a virtual power button when you turn this off it is night and day different. But until you update the drivers it'll sound like earbuds in a tin can. At least mine did. -
It's official Dell ifs offering an IPS Panel in their new m4600 Laptop
Dell's New Mobile Workstations: These Are The Laptops You're Looking For - AnandTech :: Your Source for Hardware Analysis and News
Sounds interesting love to get the sku on that one -
Also you get the slow response time of an. Ips which is a nono for any gaming laptop -

Doesn't IPS provide better color saturation and contrast and stuffs?
I know (general knowledge anyways) that IPS is always better than TN
Mr. Mysterious -
Afaik there are certian rgb and even tn panels that can match ot surpass ips panels.
Id be interested to see the matte screen matched up against this ips panel.
Also last time i checked ips panels have noticeable lag that make them undesireable for gaming. -

Ah, I see....well I've always thought that screen quality tests are subjective so...I don't put much stock into what I read online. Only when I see it with my eyes myself, then I make my own opinion about the particular product.
Mr. Mysterious -
IPS tend to be better quality, with much better color gamut, better viewing angles etc. Slower, maybe, but on a new panel maybe not. All that and the fact that this new IPS panel may be the only one available that will better the discontinued AOU.
So maybe slower but how much slower? Asus has some sub $500 IPS out at 6ms monitors, not as nice as the NECs or EIZOs but remarkable at that price point.
I guess we wait and see. -
and although ips panels are generally better quality-wise, there are ceratin s-rgb-led and matte screens that have better quality.
there was a ratings thread on screens over at the hardware subforum and the aw s-rgb led and lenovo(?) matte screen beat out the mbp ips iirc. -
You even answered questions I wanted to post after this! -

Realtek -
Choose High Definition Codecs, accept the ToS, then choose the 2.59 option.
-
^ How do you know that?
-
So I idle in the 40s and 50s and the fans surge a lot. Is this normal? Max GPU temps under full load are in the low 80s.
-
-
I have the IC Diamond paste.
Also, I updated my audio drivers to R259 on the Realtek website and the subwoofer doesn't seem to register anymore. I also don't have the "enable bass management" option. -
i didnt think the bass was superb on mine, just enough to make a little bit of difference. i ended up just using it with my 5.1 anyways so it didnt matter
-
Do you use any settings when plugging it up with your 5.1? When I use the optical, I just plug it in and play.
-
-
Does any of you have problems with sleep? Sometimes the screen goes black but it doesnt go to sleep, its still on, but there is no way to get it back without holding powerbutton to shut it off. This has happend with every driver ive tried.
-
and i guess i should clarify. i only had it plugged into the headphone jack. my 5.1 has a "matrix mode" that'll turn 2.0/2.1 into 5.1. it works quite nicely actually -

I just order my np8130 a few days ago but know I'm starting to consider maybe going for the np8150-s1 after reading that the difference between the 2630 and the 2720 processor isn't worth the $160 I'm paying for. Instead of upgraded to the 2720 with the np8130 I am considering going with the np8150-s1 getting the better gpu (radeon) but keeping the 2630 for about 250 bucks more. I am also interested in this because I'm hoping the np8150 won't take so long to build. I will be using this notebooks for gaming but also for 3d modeling, rendering, and graphic design. So what option would be better for me?
-
does anyone have any idea on how to enable the 8150 to perform at the same rate as plugged when it is on battery ?
-
isn't there some option in the nvidia control panel to prefer better performance over battery-saving? i can't remember, but that seems like a good place to start checking
-
-
At the Battery power options -> Edit Settings -> Change Advance power settings -> Processor Power Management (CPU)/Multimedia settings (GPU).
Correct me if I'm wrong, not entirely sure either but this way MIGHT work. -
-
my bad.. knew i'd seen it somewhere, but dont got mine to look at anymore
edit: nice looking home theater set up there Voodoo.. you got a Viper? -
im not sure if it was a direct result of this but my battery severely degraded by 48% in less than year. good thing i was able to have it exchanged via warranty.
imho it just doesnt seem attempting to game on battery when the battery itself cant provide enough juice for even the gpu and you risk the potential of degrading your battery. -
Running the CPU and GPU at full tlit would net you a battery life of minutes.
-
Fellas, does anyone on this forum have P150HM with extreme processor and 6970m? Want to order Eurocom Racer and curious about future OC potential of this little beast... thanks
-
Haha, yeah I know gaming on batteries isn't a magnificent idea. But I believe there might be a time where we DO play one or two games on batteries...I played Startopia (god I love that game) on batteries...but it isn't the most taxing game out there.
-
then for games like that its just better to stick with the default power settings instead of editing it which may lead to complications later
