I just ordered my pn8150 2 days ago from powernotebooks. My additional memory and Vertex 3 240Gb came from newegg today. Have 95% gamut screen coming, now all I need is the notebook.

You said yours shipped? When I ordered Don said there was a wait on the NVidia cards. Was that the case for you?

I ordered mine about a week after he did and I was told the cards should be in on Monday (4/25). Maybe he got one of the last ones from the previous shipment?

Hmmm I'm suspecting that myth pretuned my speakers and had prerelease versions of the new drivers because my sound has been really full from the start... Everyone I show it to has been complimenting the sound too. The only thing you notice when I plu in my Bose system is that the base is better but what can you expect from a 1 inch sub?

No complaints so far except for my wireless needing to be reset manually every boot up, and needing to turn off the touchpad when I really type because the right side is under my palm... They could have moved it half an inch to the left. Screen is beautiful and no crashes since I went to the two newest beta drivers.

Seems like a lot less people are having issues on Mythlogic machines?

well ive never had a problem per se with my speakers too and i got mine from xoticpc. just tweaked with the settings, thx a bit.
my one 'issue' is that the headphone jack delivers much different sound quality for my two headphones- a woodies in-ear, and a koss portapros. normally the woodies sound better on other gadgets, but the heaphone jacks seem on the 8150 seem to have a lower output and arent able to drive the audio drivers on the woodies. however when i use vlc, which has an overvolume function i can get the woodies to sound similar to the way it sounds when attached to my ipod.
the woodies seem to lack volume, bass and clarity when i use media monkey or windows media player and ive played with the settings a lot.
the vlc workaround works for me but vlc is just not as convenient as both wmp and mm.

It could be that the Woodies are just better phones. When you get a big difference in sound quality like that it could be the better more revealing earphone doesn't sound as good as something thats not so good because the lower quality masks the shortcomings of the source. Counter intuitive I know but in the world of very high end sound reproduction it happens all the time.

Some gear just doesn't sound as good when its paired up because the strengths and weaknesses of each piece accentuate the flaws of each other like a sort of reverse synergy.

    Those woodees are nice :)

could be, but i wouldnt call the koss portapros lower quality headphones. for mu ipod and my moms ipad, the woodies sound clearer and with better bass; but with the sager, the koss sounds so much better. the only issue with the koss is that they are open, but i knew that before i bought them.
but really both are excellent especially at their price points. i even compared the woodies to this :
QuietComfort 3 - Noise Cancelling Headphones - Bose Headsets and Headphones
and id say it sounded only a bit less clear.
it wouldve been nice to have used both phones with my sager performing at their best, but you cant have everything right.

Personally I think the Bose without noise canceling soun better than the ones that have it. I'm using stock config from myth for sound but their stock is not sager stock... Don't have it next to me right now.

Sorry wasn't criticizing the Koss. I was trying to point out that sometimes 2 perfectly respectable pieces of sound gear may not mate well. This not that either is bad but each has its own electical charascteristics that may not compliment each other. Good gear is a double edged sword sometimes.

    Hi nllptr,

I had the same issues with my USB 3.0 as well on my 150hm, I posted up the solution on some aussie forums here:

    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1679296

unfortunately it did involve updating the BIOS, it's a relatively painless process :)

With the insane data transfer rates that USB 3.0 brings to the table, it's more than enough to make your whites whiter and keep colors crisp, as well as run a low heat tumble cycle as well!

    Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Inside my shipping window now; called XoticPC to see if I got caught in the backorder on the 485 (doesn't appear so) so hopefully shipping soon.

Just had a problem with my video driver. Was using the computer as normal, did nothing out of the ordinary beforehand when the screen turned black and came on a second later with a message saying something along the lines of "The nVidia driver 270.51 has stopped working. Windows recovered the driver successfully."

About 5 minutes later, I had a few windows open. Suddenly, black triangles started flickering on all the windows open. Closed everything and went to click the start menu to shutdown, but Windows froze up. The mouse would move but I couldn't do anything except force shutdown.

Has this happened to anyone else with the 270.51? I did OC within safe parameters 2 weeks ago, but reverted it back to default. I've been using the driver for about 3-4 weeks now with no problems.

    On-board sound is always mediocre.

    Get a FiiO E7 or uDAC2.

    I use an E7 w/ AIAIAI TMA-1, and HiFiMAN RE-ZERO.

Hey guys, sorry I was late for this one, still 4 hours left to get it.
    Metro 2033 - $4.99.

Great game to showcase what the 8150 can handle. Benchmarks show max settings aren't a good choice since this is a very graphic intensive game, you'll likely get 15-20 fps even with the 485. High settings are more playable with 48 fps. I haven't tried the game yet so I'm not sure about tweaks and such. It can also be activated on Steam.

Does anyone know an authorized reseller for P150GM in the US?
I found one selling it by a name called AvaDirect, which I think has the cheapest price I can find, but it doesn't seem they are authorized. :/

I used the search engine and put "reseller", or any other keywords, but it always returns with an error saying it couldn't find a single post...
A help would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

Most of the resellers go through a manufacturer/distributor such as Sager and Prostar, so I am pretty sure they are "authorized"......

Am I mising something here or are you talking about a P150HM? You will find lots of resellers except usually you will find the Clevo rebranded as something else mostly Sager and the matching Sager Model is np8150 of np8150-s1.
Powernotebooks or Xoctic sell them Mythlogic sells Pullux which is a rebranded Clevo thats some in the US there are European resellers like Stenger. Search on the Seger np8150 and see what you get.

    powerdvd8 is the stock software.
but the best in the business are powerdvd10 and total media theatre 5. both make use of gpu acceleration and intel sse and can upscale, play bd's, play 3d (with or without a 3d panel), and can play a variety of files including mkv's. they can also output audio in a variety of formats.
if you like movies, get either.

    For what its worth...

Just noticed that with the latest Nvidia driver my Windows Experience Index has jumped from 7.0 to 7.5:

    Processor: 7.5
    Memory: 7.6
    Graphics: 7.5
    Gaming Graphics: 7.5
    Primary Hard Disk: 7.8

Both graphics categories were sitting at 7.0 with the previous driver.

And that's because Blu-ray codecs require a paid license.

If Microsoft included the codecs, they might get hit with anti-trust suits, from the current codecs licensers (Cyberlink, ArcSost, Corel, Nero, etc) for essentially putting them out of business.

May I ask whether the 8150 with the ATI 6970m supports switchable graphics? Did anyone try that?

Since it is enabled for the Alienware M17, I was wondering if the 8150 has it enabled too.

Try playing a song with very obvious amount of bass and adjust the settings accordingly. Oh, I find that changing the Realtek Manager option from Stereo to 5.1 surround also may prove helpful...although it doesn't do justice when headphones are plugged in.
