Thanks for that. The vertical viewing angles are so much better then the default 8170 screen. If the 90% gamut screen I'm ordering has even half as good viewing angles then I'll be happy :D

It might not be a lemon in the traditional, crappy build sense. However, like Hizzaah said, you received the wrong processor, and now you might be experiencing heat issues. At the very least, your order might have been mixed up somewhere along the line, and you did not receive what you actually ordered. If this was truly the case, then imo, as many would agree, you should not be paying for the RMA at all. Definitely take a quick look at how the thermal paste was applied. If it truly was a shoddy job, then you have even more grounds for some kind of compensation, or at least not having to pay for shipping.

dont pay for shipping bro. if xotic truly is going to live up to what they say about "being a buffer between you and sager for support", they should be taking care of things, no questions..

Maybe I should clear up some of the details regarding Stelio's transaction. Stelio requested to use the 30 Day Money Back Guarantee for refund not a repair. We offered Stelio to fix the CPU issue and pick up 100% of the cost to pick up/return the machine (to/from Canada) along with a 100% Refund for all taxes associated with the increase Processor price he paid. We also offered Stelio to send him Free IC Diamond and walk him through re-pasting the CPU/GPU. All of this was declined by Stelio. We are more then happy to fix any of Stelio's issues all at $0 expense to him.

We are taking care of every aspect of his return. If Stelio would like to do a repair or anything we have offered him it is at no charge to him whatsoever. Stelio has decided to utilize the 30 Day Money Back Guarantee for a refund which is processed differently then doing a Warranty Repair as we have offered him and as outlined above.

I am happy they offered me to re-paste the CPU/GPU and fix the CPU at zero cost to me, but like I have said...I fear that the increased amount of shipping may damage something inside the laptop. (Although this could be rare, it does happen and could cause me further grief down the line, which is not needed)

And yes I did opt for the 30days money back guarantee because of the problems I have encountered and fear of further damage. Apparently Sager will not offer me a replacement until I return the laptop (maybe has something to do with the upgraded screen). Either way I still have to pay the shipping to Nebraska. Sagers failure to apply paste properly and put the correct CPU is now going to cost me my initial $125 shipping and around the same to ship it back.

Not really sure what else to say
edit: I could just be paranoid.

Stelio - I am sorry you have experienced this issue. I understand being paranoid/worried about your machine, but please rest assured your package will be fine to make it to and from Sager to fix this issue at no expense to you if you would like us to. It will arrive back to you in the same condition you shipped it out in. You would be out $0 if you want the issue fixed by Sager as we have discussed. We are offering to cover ALL shipping costs to and from your location in Canada to fix the issue. :)

When did you order? I ordered on the 7th and was told I had a 10 - 15 business day wait to get out of 2nd phase of the order (argh). Not a huge deal, just interested in what your turn around time was...

I order the basic spec without optical drive (buy caddy case) as well as hard drive and RAM.

Place the order on Apr 2nd GMT+8:00 and make payment on Apr 5th

The order is complete on Apr 12 and shipped out on 6:41AM same day. It takes about 7 days to process. (3-5 days, not include weekends)

Interesting... Playing Crysis 2 on a flat surface I maxed the GPU at 80c with an ambient temp of 25C. Playing with what I consider to be a very good laptop cooler, it reached the same max temp with same ambient.

They're covering it under warranty so they'll just replace the whole thing..

Myth was like "wft? Three people combed over every inch of that screen with a giant magnifying glass..", and apologized for it. Could've happened during shipping? It only shows up as white on certain backgrounds (black, green, some blue..) but I didn't notice at all on others (blues, reds)..

lovin this thing man! It's a lot slimmer than I thought it was going to he which is awesome. Beautiful screen, and the SSD blows my mind. I was going to watch the boot time, but I looked away for a sec and it was done loading already lol.

The mouse pad they sent me makes my mouse misbehave though.. Guess it's the pic on it

Photobucket isn't workin for some reason. Tried to go back to add more pics and it said it was down :/
they said I can send it back at my convenience. Even after the 30 days :) gonna be in Ohio for a few weeks in the summer so I may do it then. Hopefully will have a faster turnaround then returning it from Texas lol

On a side note, it was freezing cold in my room last night. Since I have my laptop on my desk which is below the thermostat, the heat it was putting out during my furmark/benchmark runs was makin the A/C kick on higher and higher lol..

Hey everyone, since most of us received our 8150s, I figured I'd make a group on Steam for all of us on the chance we may want to game together. Here's the link: Steam Community :: Group :: Sager Gamers

Well, you have to deal with UPS for the expectations. :D But for the meantime, weren't you adviced by Myth to do some DIY fixin'? It could save you the hassle of sendin it back, yeah!

Expecting my 1611 within the day or tomorrow... Aw shucks, I'll be out of town today to attend to a friend's request! :mad2:

BTW, I could do an unboxing video, if someone's still interested. And pictures too! ;)

No, they didn't say anything about DIY fixes.. Since it's covered under warranty I assume. But I'll try some to see if I can avoid sending it off..

Noticed today that there's a bit of a bump on my lid. Directly behind where the upper left screen bezel screw is. Thinkin they may've tightened that screw a bit too much. Kinda annoying lol. Once you notice somethin like that, you see it all the time

Concerning Phase 3, I hope that screen replacement time is on the short end. I don't see how it would take 7 days to replace a screen, unless they're really busy...

Then again, no need rush. Wouldn't want to end up getting a dead pixel or not having screen properly placed.

Currently no other machines use the 485m. There are people who are trying to get it to work in the alienware m17x R3. (Not much success but you could head over there and read the 100+ pages :p)

The m18x was recently announced and will have SLI/Crossfire. Maybe the 485m o_O who knows =]

I don't know what anyone could expect, but to me, this is exactly what I would look for in customer service. It seems that this reseller has offered everything one could want, and the buyer still doesn't know what he is offered. I didn't buy anything from xoticPC, but I sure as h*** have a very high opinion of them. Great job, Justin, and somewhere down the line, I will buy my next one from you.

This is exactly why I bought from XoticPC. I was able to talk to the people I wanted to when I had questions about the build and the sales person I have handling the order now promptly calls me back when I have an issue after hours (some stupid little questions). It was close between them and Mythologic, to be honest, but I ended up going with my gut and with XoticPC.

there's a more condensed, productive thread about it now. the original long one got closed due to arguing lol..

i think they're doin really well with em actually. the ones that have done it are running their cards perfectly fine. the problem they're having is that they want to go from the 460m to the 485m and retain the 3D abilities of the 120hz screen. they've been unsuccessful at getting their laptop screens to run at 120hz with the 485m. they're pretty close it seems though. pretty interesting if you've followed from the start

I just got my sager np 8150 today! I have a few questions though. What bloatware should i be deleting? Also, how do i use my fingerprint scanner and can I have it read two different fingertips for verification (so my bro can use comp too)?

sagers come with hardly any bloatware.
you can use up to ten fingerprints for verification. just open protector suite and everything should be obvious from there.

you should check ur fingerprin settings, if its on "secure mode" ull have to be veeery precise in order for it to accept the fingerprint. im leaving it on the normal mode, otherwise id need like 20 tries to log on each time :p

yo yo anyone play wow on the p150hmb? what settings do you guys play with?

i'm curious because i thought i'd be able to play everything on ultra and high and at 8x multisampling with no problem but with that setting in the middle of orgrimmar during peak hours my dps drops to a dismal 30 something and even in AV or some parts of northrend my fps drops to 40 - 50 ish

I would also like to know if there are any smaller 180W adapters around - I guess depending on your configuration you could also take a lower rated 150W or 120W one??
    anyone around with good suggestions?
