hey guys, if anyone is interested in squeezing a bit more power out of his 485M, i found a BIOS tweaked to a core voltage of 1.03V instead of the standard 1.00 V in 3D mode :)

heres the download link: 485M 1.03V BIOS

    flash with NvFlash!

    Enjoy! :)

seems like the highest gtx 485 score in vantage is a little over 18k

a p150 with the i7-2720 holds that record. wonder how amd 6970 will do on max oc

    Result

here is the 485 score ;)

Have you tested it before posting, or are you leaving the honor of potential bricking a card to some other guinea pig?

how does he get such a high cpu and physic score?? i have the higher graphics score, but his cpu scores waste mine

his cpu score is ~27k points higher than mine.
his physics test is ~135 operations/sec higher :/

my proc and gpu are running at higher speeds than his..
    http://3dmark.com/3dmv/3081686

    EDIT: on his it has
    PPU Disable false
    PPU Used true

    on mine
    PPU Disabled True
    PPU Used false

    what is ppu?

    kevinjack is right.
i also wanted to get the matte screen. but since i was having the unit shipped to new york then shipped to my country, i decided that getting the dead pixel warranty(for the additional QA) was more important than getting the matte screen. it wouldve been to big a letdown to have a beautiful screen with dead pixels on them nad getting both the warranty and the matte screen seemed to costly for me.

it is relatively low according to both malibal and xoticpc. however i had my laptop shipped abroad and i wanted to take extra precaution by having additional QA. that is no assurance however that the screen may be damaged during transo but sager packaging is solid imho.
if i lived in the US i would not opt for the dead pixel warranty and go for the matte screen instead.

It runs at a solid 60FPS with everything maxed on 1920x1080 with the 485. When I hit heavy areas of smoke, the FPS plummets.

Placed my order on Saturday (4/9) with... Xotic PC & Lingerie :p

    Sager NP8150-S1 / Clevo P150HM
    • Display: 15.6" FHD 16:9 "Matte Type" Super Clear Ultra Bright LED Anti-Glare Screen w/ 95% NTSC Color Gamut (1920x1080)
    • Processor: 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-2630QM, 2.0-2.8GHz, (32nm, 6MB L3 cache)
    • Graphics Video Card: nVidia GeForce GTX 485M 2,048MB PCI-Express GDDR5 DX11
    • Ram: ~ 8,192MB DDR3 1333MHz Dual Channel Memory (2 SODIMMS)
    • Primary Hard Drive: ~ 500GB 7200RPM (Serial-ATA II 300 - 16MB Cache)
    • Optical Drive: ~ 6X Blu-Ray Read/8X DVDRW Super Multi Combo Drive
    • Wireless Network: Intel® Ultimate-N 6300 - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module
    • Thermal Compound: IC Diamond Thermal Compound - CPU + GPU

Hit Phase 2 yesterday. Kicking myself for not opting for the i7-2720 proc. I'm on the fence whether it's worth it or not though; in the aspect of the minor extra features, I know a faster processor is always welcomed. Hmm...

I have one question so far for the current owners.

In the event that I want to install another hard drive, is the caddy for the secondary HD drive included or must one purchase it separately? I already own a Intel x-25 M 510 SSD (2nd gen), so that might end up in this build.

    Thanks

    Hi guys,

I've had my notebook for 2 weeks and I noticed that the GPU fan tends to cycle on and off every 10-20 secs. It's like every time it reaches 40c it feels the need to ramp up the fans for 10sec then it goes silent again

I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed this issue or whether it's by design?

I'm quite positive caddies are not included unless you specify you want one. You will be charged accordingly for it. I believe some resellers have the option of choosing another HDD instead of an ODD when customizing. Keep in mind, however, the caddies that Sager resellers sell are relatively expensive. My HDD caddy was roughly $55, which costs more than the HDD I put in it. You can find them on eBay for a lot cheaper. Being new to caddies, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to look for a specific one, so I just bought from my reseller (lpc-digital) to be safe.

I've tried that bios (3/25) but the issue still remains and there is nothing in notes to suggest that there was a fix for this problem?

Like did you have the problem and then it went away? I wish there was clevo person on these forums so that they could provide an insight into this issue

Try speedfan and change settings under what you want the idle temp to be to a little lower or experiment. One user said this fixed the issue, another said it made no difference.

It's strange. When I first installed speedfan and adjusted the desired temps, it worked and made the fans stay on low. Since then, it doesn't seem to make a difference on subsequent runs no matter what the setting.

Another question along the same lines... Would it be possible to trim piece of screen protector film (like those used on IPad screens) to the exact size of the touchpad? I have also ordered the XoticPC NP8150-S1 and am concerned about the touchpad having some physical drag. Does anyone have any other ideas?

    Ordered April 6- XoticPC/Sager NP8150-S1, i7-2720QM, FHD 16:9 "Matte" 95% NTSC (1920x1080), ATI HD6970 2048MB GDDR5 DX11, ~120GB Intel 510 SSD, ~750GB 7200RPM 16MB Cache, 16 GB DDR3 1333MHz, Intel Ultimate-N 6300, IC Diamond Thermal Compound, 3 Year Parts & Labor

I tried that and it works but it looks pretty ugly. The touchpad isn't actually too bad for occasional use. Definitely better than the one on the NP8690 which was crap.

No, and unless it is horrendously bad (which I doubt it is), then I don't think it will affect the quality of the screen that much. It's a tradeoff between enjoying the excellent matte screen on my 8130 and protecting it.

Yes, I had the same issue which is why I upgrade to that version as well. As a result, it seems as though the fan stays on a bit longer. It'll still turn off every now and again for 10 seconds or so, but it'll stay on longer. Either that or my room has gotten hotter :D. Other members on here have posted similar results to this upgrade as well.

I do notice it, but only rarely. Most of the time, it just gets drowned out with the white noise (TV, games, music, etc). In fact, I don't notice it until I read something about the fans :p

Looks like Sager is OOS on the 485M cards as well, just got this from Xotic PC:

    Hello,

There is currently a shortage on the video card you ordered. This item is expected to arrive in 4/25. Once this arrives in we will send you order to our Nebraska Plant for the screen upgrade on your order. We apologize for the delay on your order.

A lot can change within the span of 8 days. It all depends on the reliability/accuracy of the information that was communicated. Also, in most cases, resellers are more likely the messengers than sources.
