I notice in the manual it mentions the P150HM comes with rubberised paint. Has anyone confirmed this yet? I am guessing this is also contributing to the slightly higher cost over the P151

"i7 2630QM". And just when I'd figured out how to read the three digit model numbers... Any bets on what the next series will look like? Five digits or two?

They should really stick to just 3 , 4 digits is confusing.

They could drop the last zero's, but now they're putting non-zero numbers in that spot for ULVs and the like. May as well add Arabic characters on the end at this point.

Alright guys, sent the money to a friend and he will be placing my order for me within 2 to 3 days depending on how long it takes for the money to go from his paypal account to his bank account. I need someone to recommend me a messenger bag for the laptop, I don't like backpacks and those are the only accessories offered.

So can the ODD be removed and replaced with a second hard drive? If so, that would remove one of the two main gripes I have, the other being a switchable graphics pipedream.

Not by the OEM, but you can buy an adapter. Check out newmodeus.com and the NP8690 one should work fine with it.

Awesome, thanks for the link. How sure are you that this will be compatible? I'd really hate to slap down two grand on computer, caddy, and drive before discovering it didn't fit.

If that caddy doesn't work, there will still be some sort of solution coming. There's no question A caddy will fit, the question is if THAT caddy will fit.

Any properly applied compound will keep your temps down. I wouldn't pay anyone $40 to apply paste from a $6 tube.

If it means that much, spend the $6 and 2 minutes yourself.

I would imagine this would be fine most of the time, however you may have difficulty removing the heatsinks.

My M860TU's 9800GT died last month, so I decided to try the baking it. Unfortunately one of the screws on the CPU side of the heatsink had a stripped thread meaning I was unable to remove it. I managed to slide the card out but I think I inadvertently bent the heatsink just enough so that it wouldn't lie completely flat. When I booted up again, the card worked artifact free, but the fans spun up to max speed within a few seconds and the system shut off before getting to the desktop. Seems pretty clear something was overheating and re-applying thermal paste to the card didn't help and I couldn't access the CPU to apply any there.

The only reason I even considered prying the heatsink was because the system was dead anyway if couldn't fix the card. Nevertheless, a similar problem would prevent or increase the risk of applying alternative thermal paste. For most people this won't be an issue but it's something to take into account. I see it being more like a 20 minute exercise if everything goes well, not something you can be assured of like in a desktop.

Battlefield 3 Unveiling at GDC 2011 - PC News at IGN

So battlefield 3 is officially being unveiled this march. Battlefield 3 and Starcraft 2 are the only games i need to last me forever. What are the chances that the gtx 485m will max bf3 out?

From notebookcheck's review it maxed out bad company 2 native res all high, 4xAA, 8xAF and got 50 fps. It used Frostbite 1.0. Battlefield 3 uses frostbite 2, will not support windows xp, takes advantage of dx 11 and 64-bit processors. I'd like to know what you guys think. :)

Is it just me or is lpc-digital screwed up? I went to customize mine and no matter what processor I put in it, the price remains the same through the check out as though I were getting the 2630.

Edit: Now it is reflecting the price accurately. Smashing my head on the wall thanks to TDBank and their terrible service at these hours (couldn't even get my damned balance).

The laptop will still be plastic but will have a rubber feel to it. The rubber finish will be applied to the plastic panels (sprayed on or overmoulded I would imagine)

ok.. so is the intel 6230 wifi card + bluetooth better than the intel 6300? and if i get the 6300, i can't have bluetooth support?

why is 2630qm not listed here: http://www.intel.com/consumer/products/technology/wirelessdisplay.htm#fragment-a-2 for intel WiDi? Is it the same as the 2630UM?

which of the three (p151hm, p150hm, p170hm) has the hm65 and hm67 chipsets? most reseller websites have it all mixed up, I think.

The 2630QM doesn't even exist, according to Intel's site. Probably because it's an OEM CPU.

RJTech's website says nothing about Bluetooth when you choose the 6300.

    But the 2630QM supports WiDi?

Ok. But if I understand it correctly, the new Intel card (6230) has the wifi and bluetooth chips in one mini-PCIe card while the old Intel card (6300) has only the wifi chip and the bluetooth chip will be in a different slot in the laptop?
