If you upgrade to the 485m later youll be looking at buying a new PSU as well from what i have read, so the whole upgrade path could get pricey when the time comes...

This looks reasonable, and available for order NOW!??? Awesome. I gotta do some eBay selling pronto to order this new bad boy. Got about $1000 tied up in stuff I've been procrastinating on selling.

I'd love it if the 15" came with dual drive slots, but what can you do so I'll opt for the 17". I really want a Blu-Ray reader along with a slot for OS SSD and storage HDD.

    Here's what I'm going for:

    Stock NP8170 but adding:
    Blu-Ray Reader / DVDRW Combo drive +$120
    Intel 6300 WiFi +$35

    Total cash: $1496.75

Is there a way to get free shipping?

Wow. The NP5135 got discontinued as soon as I ordered it 3 weeks ago, and now it got replaced by all these awesome new ones? Really pissed...
Since my laptop hasn't even arrived yet, does anyone know if I can return it back to the seller without having to pay taxes?

What's the difference between the Sager NP8130 (Built on Clevo P151HM1) and the Sager NP8150 (Built on Clevo P150HM)? (Besides the NP8130 being cheaper)

Also, are there coupons for xoticpc, like other brands such as Dell, HP, etc?

True, but he could also purchase one from eBay without a heatsink, engineering sample for instance.

It has a matte screen. I'm not clear on the other differences besides it not being able to upgrade to 485m in the configurator.

Edit: 8150 is quads only. 8130 starts with 2630M dual core.

The cheaper has the matte. I'm guessing that you could on second inquiry, but it begs the question of why to seperate the configs other than the different PSUs.

(just noticed 8150 is quads only while 8130 starts with dual core.)

Yeah, that's the number you hear most often, but I've never seen anything from an official source. Just wondering about headroom with the 485m(s) and an extreme processor.

Depends if you're talking 8150 or 8170. That's 180W vs 220W respectively for the PSUs.

    i7 2630QM
    gtx 460m
    8gb ram
    15.6" 1920x1080 matte

    USD 1172

glad i didnt pull the trigger on the 8760, apart from the sandy bridge processor i can get a matte screen instead of a glossy lol

Would you mind opening a owners thread for the Sager NP8130-Clevo P151HM1? Resellers cannot do this. This way we can post some helpful info on this specific model. Thanks... :)

    A couple of questions:

    1) What is the battery life when browsing the web? Sandy Bridge is very efficient and it should be possible to switch between the discreet and integrated GPUs so it is theoretically possible to make it quite decent, but I'm wondering whether Clevo actually did this.

    2) What is the difference between this machine and the cheaper NP8130? If I don't want the 485M or the 2920XM, it looks like the NP8150 is simply more money for the same hardware. Is it the cooling necessary to support the above parts?

I tried the P150 today here in Japan.
I was really surprised how light the pc was. It weight almost nothing (for a high end gaming notebook).
Indeed on Xotic website I saw 6.83 lbs: very light.
The PSU is super big though...
The other thing I notice is that the screen is really crisp and bright. The only reason I didn't buy it here is because there is no 485m option only 460m.
Also I notice the mention "user upgradeable" in xotic website... Does it mean we have to install it our self??? If not what does it mean?

I want to know how light it is without the battery ( since its 6.8lb with battery). Do you take any pictures of the p150 when you checked it? :p

There is no 2630 dual core. It's an i7-2630 QM.

But wow, decent pricing. I can get the 8130 for $250 less than the 8170, plus it comes with 8GB RAM, and BD for only $50 more. I may get this instead, and update to an i7-2720QM, and just deal with not having an SSD for boot drive. Just wait for an affordable Intel 300GB, and live with Momentus XT for the time being.

So what is the difference between 8130 and 8150? Power supply? Looks like the 8150 supports GTX 485m, and since the 8130 doesn't show the 485m as an option, that it might not be a user upgradeable option later? That price of the 8130 is too tempting.

We really need to know the difference between the two because as you said the price is tempting.
The following are xoticpc prices (without the cash discounts):

    Standard configuration:
    8130 = $1209
    8150 = $1309

$100 difference in standard configuration. More strangely, the config for the 8130 is better than 8150, e.g. 8130 has 8GB RAM while the 8150 has 4GB. To upgrade; it's + $90. So now the difference is $190 for the same config.
More interesting differences: in the 8130 you can upgrade to the '6X Blue-Ray Read/8X DVDRW Super Multi Combo Drive' for $50, it's $120 for the 8150. HDD: All HDD upgrades for the 8130 are cheaper than the 8150. The difference ranges from $5 to $20

    So you could get the 8130 with the exact same options as the 8150 and saving ($100 + $90RAM + $70BD + $15Seagate XT). That's $275 saved.

Right. I think I'm just going to go with the 8130 actually, and get base config, add on the Intel 6300 network card and with the extra money buy an SSD, and an optical drive bay dock for storage hard drive. Unless I see there's a compelling difference between the 8130 and 8150. I most likely won't update the video card later anyhow if that is the difference.

I'm assuming the optical drive is the same as the NP8690? Because I'll order the optical drive bay adapter for hard drive from newmodeus if it is.

I'd like an internal Blu-Ray player but I have an external so will make due with that since I don't plan on lugging this thing around much.

The NP8130 has a matte screen too, which I much prefer. But I'd still like to know the difference between the two.

My mistake. I was confused because of inconsistent product naming on intel's part and differing processor option descriptions on the two models.

Are the differences between the i7-2630QM, 2720QM, and 2820QM just their clock speed? For some reason, I kept mistaking the 2630QM for the 2620M (which is the dual core and supports only 1333MHz DDR3).

Do all the processors in the sager support 1600 MHz ram? I just checked newegg and found only 2 options for ddr3 1600 ram, lol. Is it because it's not mainstream yet?

Edit: Are there any benchmarks comparing the mobile sandy bridge cpus yet?

Bottom line is if you want a high end graphics card it will not come with switchable graphics for now...with no idea if switchable graphics will ever be combined with high end discrete graphics cards.

The new Sager NP5160 and Sager NP5170 will be released later this week and will feature switchable graphics using mid-range discrete graphics.

Anyone place there orders yet? I am waiting for a reply from Malibal in regards to the PSU for their 15 incher and overclocking headroom for a i7 2920XM, I originally planned on going for the 2820QM but I stumbled on some extra cash so I thought why not.

Well what do you guys think? With the 15 incher and it's 180 watt psu and the specs in my sig, is there enough headroom for a overclocked 2920XM, or should I just stick with the 2820QM?

Gonna be a traitor to the W860CU owners, and join the fun soon after selling my NP8690 off.

You've done well my boy, very well. *pats current laptop*

I was reading the specs on both 8150 and 8130. Very weird...very high price differences in upgrading. Why is this anyway? Oh and the colour choice...haha. Can someone paint it for me :)? Guess my mind still is in both sets of models.
