Yeah the 485M is pure ownage. It's the GPU I've been waiting for all this time. Hopefully Clevo obliges with an SB refresh of the x7200 asap so I can go dual 485M asap.
-
i dont think clevo will do i7 2600k or i5 2500k you have to wait for q4 2k11 or q1 2k12 for lga 2011 socket release
-
Man clevo. you almost did it right this time!
now stop making room for those useless ODD! for gods sake, its 2011. nobody uses the odd more than three times a year, and an external one is just fine. get dedicated media keys and a proper back lit keyboard. only thing missing then is a HQ matte screen and switchable graphic option for decent battery life.
what does this sound like? a freaking AWESOME 13" gayman "netbook" that EVERYONE would want.
also, do the same to the 15-16" department with 2 hdd slots and/or sli gpus.
then i will hail you, clevo. -

Would any of you potential owners of the Sager NP8150-Clevo P150HM, Sager NP8170-Clevo P170HM and the Sager NP8130-Clevo P151HM1, create official owners lounges for these individually?
This will help as to posting for each model specifically. Thanks...

I think I have a reason for 2 GPUs in 15' laptop: heat??
but why not 2 HDD -
I've had an Envy 15 for a year without an ODD and have had zero need for it. -
I guess we'll see tonight right? Also I'm amazed no information about if these support optimus is being released. -
-
-
-
-
Keep in mind that the ODD is larger than a 2.5" HDD.
These caddies have been around for a long time: Optical Bay HDD : NewmodeUS, Hard Drive Caddys for Notebooks -
Plan on getting one of these as soon as their released! Getting mine from Malibal though. This is going to be my first Clevo laptop I am very anxious

Thanks for the thread! A lot more goodies tonight here...

Although it will be close I provided a 3D Mark Vantage screen shot from the 8170. Here is a LINK

I don't know if this has been mentioned in the thread already, but it doesn't look like this new model includes a Firewire port like the W8xCU series. That's one of the main reasons I chose the 8690 for my recent purchase over the ASUS G53x. Is there also no ExpressCard port either or did I just miss it in the screenshots? If so, that can be used to add a F.W and other ports if needed.
This trend is lame for those of us who like to work with higher end HD video editing, b/c there are a LOT of nice prosumer video cameras out there, even brand new ones, that still depend on F.W for DV data transfer (which by the way cannot automatically be emulated with a simple FireWire-->USB adapter cable).
But I suppose since most laptops are moving away from F.W the cameras will change too (which will be yet another investment to make).
Good thing I won't need to buy this new model! -
Tonight Tonight Tonight. For me (GMT) it's less than two hours till midnight, so can someone confirm the time zone so I could set my alarm

Can anyone confirm that there will be some form of optimus implementation with the sandy bridge igp and the Nvidia gtx485? It was brought up a few times in this topic but nobody has given an answer yet. I have a feeling there won't be anything of the sorts but it would be pretty cool if there was.

Yeah that 485 is a GIGANTIC leap from previous cards...
-
-
Actually it should be possible to make such powerful laptops thin in the first place, if you would open up W860CU, you will see that there are so much empty spaces you can fit a netbook in or something.

I just want a quality laptop with i7-2630QM, GT460m / HD 5870 or better, switchable graphics, 1080p, dual drive bays, a good keyboard, and preferably blu-ray for $1500. I don't give a rat about memory or SSD. I have something already I can use for the time being.
I hope that "couple more hours" is truly a couple hours, because I need to go to bed, and am too stupid to just wait for tomorrow morning. -

How long is the MXM 3.0b expected to last? Is it reasonable to expect next year's mobile video card releases to work with MXM 3.0b? -
I'd prefer an HD 6000 series GPU, but I don't think I'll get one in the price range and it will most likely take a few months longer to get them. Who knows how long an MXM 3.0b will last. I don't care to be honest. Seems like every time I try to plan for decent CPU or GPU upgrade options it rarely pans out.

xoticpc has the new lappys up
-
oh wow, Intel® Core™ i7-2630QM and 485m for $1748.
damn damn damn -
They're waaaay cheaper than I expected.
Base P150HM = $1270
Base P170HM= $1347
With cash discounts that is.
-
I like these prices. My next notebook will definitely be one of the new Clevo/Sager models (currently a Sony F). I think I might wait one month and see the overclocking people achieve with the 2920XM.
Anyone knows the difference between the Sager standard vs S1 models on XoticPC? -
Their S1 models come configured at a higher base kit than the a la carte basic ones.
-
Stupid question if I were to get the NP8170 with a 460M would I be able to upgrade it to a 485m later myself?
-
hope they release a review soon.
i want to see how that modified aluminum heatsink/piping will affect temps.
other than that i think its a fair price for what your getting.
edit:
and of course if optimus is implemented -

I see the S1's, but where's the base units?
Edit: NM, I see it, I'm blind.
