Is it possible to undervolt or downclock the 6970m to reduce power usage and increase battery life when doing non intensive tasks(working with Ms Word etc.)?
According to notebookcheck, sager's with 6970m battery life on idle is 1 hour shorter compared to one with the 485m(so it's about the same with 460m?)
Also, maybe it would be possible to turn off/slow down fans during idle, as sager with 6970m is running cooler than 485m on idle. I think it's because of non-stop working fans(??)
Sorry for such stupid questions, but I really can't decide what to buy - well configured 8150 with 460m or almost base config. with 6970m![]()

Not even the nVidia GT330M in my old sony down clocked as much as my GT485M does in idle mode. It's incredible that I get 3 hours of work with this fully spece'd out notebook on battery alone. nVidia has done a great job in powersavings with this card.

@ tellmewhy - mind giving us the review link of sager with hd6970m?
-
too bad multicom dos not have the 95% screen:/
-
I know it's not sager but I think It's almost the same(?) -
im getting kinda confused. from the loking down at the laptop (not disassembled), is the gpu on the left or right of the keyboard?
-
The GPU is under the numpad, to the right.
EDIT: Not directly under the numpad of course. -
has any of you guys with the machine tried any heatsink modding yet? have a bunch of ram heatsinks that i might put into it if there is any gain

Thanks in advance -

P150HM current EC BIOS -
Have you updated to System BIOS 1.01.06 and EC firmware 1.00.04 (2011/3/25)? -
-
otherwise I may ask them for another solution. I'm sure it was around $150 for the drive+the enclosure, so I'd want something that works and wil be reliable
thanks for the info
-
Since you seem to have the same problem I'm going to just hope it's their system right now and that nothing's been lost.
-
Don't worry ZahariasX. Mine didn't update for like 3 days. Probably because it was in a truck for almost the whole trip.
-
-
so is the 6970 a battery killer / portable heater when you aren't playing games ?
I'm about to purchase from mythlogic and may go with the 460 since I don't play games. -
The 460m is more than enough for the average user. -

Go to YouTube and search "np8150". Look for the xotic pc review part 1.. They go over the screen a bit.. Might give you a bit of an idea

Guys, I just noticed 8150-S1 model have the option to change to Matte by default. Is it recently added or is been there since launch?
-
-
Finally, I can get a matte screen for 8150! My eyes are saved!! Haha. -
i assume thats a similar screen to the one on the 8130?

And let me vouch for the screen on the 8130: It is excellent! Good viewing angles, no glare, good color reproduction (in my opinion, anyways...I'm not a photographer or anything).
Mr. Mysterious -
hey guys its me again. i reinstalled my win7 prof os and now my loading times have significantly increased like skype used to take 1-2s to load now its takes like 7-8s. when loading nvidia settings from desktop its also doubled the length in loading. what could be causing this problem?
i've tried ccleaner, defraggler and there's no virus or anything. i;ve done ton of scans..
any help would be deeply appreciated -

You need to go into msconfig (just search for it in the windows start menu) and then go to the "startup" tab. Uncheck all of the unnecessary processes, and that will speed your startup time immediately.
You will need to restart though (a box will prompt you).
Mr. Mysterious -
hey mr mysterious thanks for the quick reply. i have almost nothing running at start up. its not the system start that bothers me, its the loading time of programs has double now after my reinstall
-
i dont think he's talking about boot times.. seems like the times it's taking for programs to load are taking longer than they were before..
SSD or HD? model/size/firmware? -
hi hizzaah. i have a momentus xt 500gb driver. i have it updated with the latest firmware sd25
-
wonder if the fresh install messed with whatever the ssd section had remembered from before. just go through an open those programs a bunch of times, and you'll get your speed back
-
Just ordered this in the uk. (chassis is P150HM) Cant wait!!

yo hizzaah any way to get the ssd to forget my previous install? haha
-
i think it did when it formatted itself for the fresh install..? thats why you lost your speed. thats how those XT drives work.. once it figures out what files you'll be regularly using, it'll store em on the 4gb ssd part and will speed em up
-
just order mine Intel® Core™ i7-2720QM/8,192MB DDR3 1333MHz/nVidia GeForce GTX 485M/IC Diamond /15.6” FHD 16:9 LED Backlit Wide screen (1920x1080) Super Clear Matte Type Screen/Combo 8x8x6x4x Dual Layer DVD/120GB Intel 510 Series Solid State Drive/ Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit/Optical Bay Hard Drive Caddy

I just tried to install the G.SKILL RAM some of us bought a month ago.
I think I installed them correctly but when I tried to boot the laptop up, the screen would not turn on!
Does anyone have a video of how to install RAM for the newby? I have seen videos that show the slots but not how to put the RAM inI felt like I was going to break the RAM lol.
edit: The screen on max brightness is SO BRIGHT! Should help finding keys at night =] -
sometimes it does take an little bit of force to get the ram to seat correctly.. shouldn't take too much though lol
