The only difference is the finish plastigo or rubber between the NP8130 and NP8150?

The other differences are the display and ac adapter. The 8130 / P151HM1 has a matte display, while the 8150 / P150HM has a glassview display. And the 8130 / P151HM1 ac adapter is 120W while the 8150 / P150HM is 180W.

I opened up the back to check if the gpu is soldered or plugged in. Its plugged in. But one thing that confuses me is that I only see two ram slots.

Which slots do manufacturers use first? The easy access ones or the ones under they keyboard?

Different manufacturers do it different ways.

Specifically, Sager puts them in slots 0 and 1 which are under the back panel, and leaves slots 2 & 3 empty under the keyboard.

There is a bit of expertise needed to remove the keyboard, so it is not recommended for the end user. The instructions are not in the manual.

I have requested a set of instructions from Sager...with pictures. I have also asked if they actually need to put them in slots 0 & 1 if there are only two pieces going in, and they will also research that and get back to me. I then recommended the obvious...put them under the keyboard UNLESS there is a good reason not to.

Yeah, makes no sense for the assembler to put them in the easy to access bay. Not only that I'm sure there will be plenty of complaints from people saying they read it had four slots, or worse yet people who think they only have two slots.

I ordered mine with no RAM since I already have 8GB I'm putting in, and will put them in the easy access bay obviously, until I decide to go to 16GB at some point. But then it'd be a good opportunity to repaste the CPU and GPU.

It makes sense if memory has to be loaded from slot 0 forward. That is what Sager is researching and we will have the answer soon.

I know someone has an 8130 already. All we really want to know right now is: How is the matte screen. If someone could, just download a colorwheel image or something like that and take 5 photos: 1 center, two horizontal plane photos and 2 vertical plane photos. pleaaase... ty ;)

I don't want to sound rude or anything ill, but how come only pro-star put a video of the NP8150? I guess its still too early to see full video reviews from other companies on the NP8130 >_< The last two months have been killing me since I decided to buy a laptop lol. I went from the Dell XPS 14 to XPS 15 to Sony Vaio F to Asus N53 to Asus G53 and my final decision an NP81x0 :D

    I had a very similar experience when my current laptop couldn't handle SC2. Went from HP envy 15 > Hp envy 17 > asus n53 > asus n73 > asus n53 > sony vaio f > dell xps 15 > hp dv7 w/ sandy bridge > a Sager np8130.

Actually it was a members post on a discount forum that brought me over to the sager forums. I had always thought that gaming laptops would be absurdly overpriced, but these new sager models are definitely in my price range and have everything I want (sans backlit keyboard, but that's a rant for another day)

Stelio: I did not get the dead pixel warranty. 100 is a little too steep for my taste for something so small.

Ordered mine last Friday! Hoping to get it before Feb. but the way it looks that's not going to happen...

The suspense is killing me...been using a Sony for about 5 years now, ready for some change!

Any news about the battery life? Looks like the 8150 gets around 2-3 hours with 485m and 2920XM, guessing the 8130 will get around the same if not better

I do need to know the verdict about this matte screen. The screen itself must be good on viewing angles, but the matte matter (hehehe) is of paramount importance, since this is a game machine. We are used to glossy for so long, aren't we?
    Fingers crossed.

I have attached pictorial instructions for removing the keyboard on the Sager NP8130 to get access to two of the four memory slots.

Note that in the instructions it says it will support 1GB and 2GB memory pieces, but rest assured it also supports 4GB pieces.

However effective with today's builds and going forward Sager will install the memory under the keyboard, leaving any open slots under the bottom cover for easy access :)

I am also very interested in the performance of the Clevo/Sager LCDs. I do photo/video/web work and while I primarily use external displays, I also expect a certain level of quality from the dedicated LCD.

Any calibration info or part numbers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Dthorny! Those pics definitely give us a good idea of a few important features to the screen: viewing angles and consistency of backlighting. All in all, that looks like a damn fine screen.... though it seems to not be a perfectly matte screen. My brother likens it to a Lustre more than a matte. But hey, its definitely way better in terms of reflection then any glossy screen I've had to deal with for the past 3 years.

@Dthrony I'm glad you're happy with your system. I hope it serves you well.

I mean no offense, but a handful of blurry photographs are hardly an objective approach to measuring gamut, contrast, brightness, or viewing angle. Any idea as to the model number of the 1920x1080 LCD?

    Anyone from xoticpc or Sager/Clevo?

For some reason I really have a thing to get cool backgrounds. I hope that I can put a folder of like 50 pics at 1920 x 1080 and the computer just cycles through them like every 30secs. And thank you!

I'm strongly considering an 8130 or 8150 with 8gb memory, the Momentus XT disk, and the 6230 networking. I've been hesitating for three reasons:

    1. No Optimus or wireless display support
    2. ATI 6970m possibly coming soon, might be price-competitive with 460m (don't know about power usage though)
    3. Not enough information yet on battery life

If this had switchable graphics, that would solve any battery issues and make this purchase a no-brainer -- it's unfortunate, because this is so close to perfect. I could probably live without 1 and 2, but the battery life is potentially a dealbreaker.

Can someone post about how long their 8130 lasts at max brightness, both for gaming and for simple tasks like web browsing?

I am going to assume at least 2h 30mins :) Maybe 3+ depending on settings and light tasks. The 460m will definitly give more then the 485m I believe.
