Why not buy base model now and upgrade GPU and SSD later? I don't think you'll find something for <$1500 with HD 6970 and a 120GB SSD.
-
-
I can probably upgrade ssd later on but I am not sure about GPU...will HD 6970 be comparable with 8130? will it be easy to install?
as for 6300N, I have decided to go with it because of the wireless range. I will probably use it mostly in school and don't really want to compromise range (speed don't matter cuz in America, I don't think any ISP is providing the speed 6230 or 6300 is capable of). I can buy a usb bt and keep it on...maybe bt V4.0 will be out soon... -
One thing you have to know, the reason I dropped the 6300n is that clevo models only contain 2 antennas, and you cannot make use of the third antenna. You have to disassemble the laptop to put the third antenna in if you want to use the max. speed and range of the 6300n. That is why I dropped it, and it drastically reduces the benefits of using the 6300n.
Also, I am not certain of the 6970m being able to be compatible with the 8130. At this point, it is only a speculation, and the 8150 seems to be the laptop with the "upgradeability options" for GPU.. -
why the 8130 have no upgradeability gpu options??
-
-
-
Whatttt? smaller cooling system. that is no good. hehe. I thought the only diff b/w 8130 and 8150 was the screen, psu, and GPU upgrade option.
-
I decided just to downgrade, because it will be similar in terms of 2 antennas.
Hopefully someone will disprove of this.. I wish to use 3 antennas as well! -

All of the Sager NP81x0 models have 3 antennas. Whoever said they only had 2 was simply wrong.

^^^^Yes this of course is correct. Also of we know that these new models have the option for the Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 card which utilizes 3 antennas.

I'm gone for the week (Mammoth!!), but I'll post about my new awesomeness of a computer when I get back
-
Bye... we anxiously await your review.
-
In can't wait for a review to pull the trigger. Please be good, Mr Sager xD
Concerns are just about cooling and viewing angles. -
-
Hopefully the reviews for this laptop end up being good. I went ahead and purchased the basic Sager NP8130 available from Xotic (with no hardware upgrades).
I know little about the current gen laptops and have been researching them for the past two weeks to try and get up to speed. I may be wrong, but it seems like if you built a similar laptop back in December it would have cost over $2K. Is the drop in price due to Sandy Bridge technology being cheaper to manufacture? -

Just a note to say the Sager NP5160 & NP5170 ETA is Early Feb11
They have the same external look as of current NP5135 & NP7130... -

Would someone open up an OFFICIAL OWNERS LOUNGE for the Sager NP5160?...
-
I should be getting mine tomorrow if UPS cooperates.
-
-
Do you have any information about specs and release date?
edit: nevermind I found it -
my NP8130 just shipped should have it by Thursday cant wait!
-
Just ordered one from prostar

I can't wait to see the viewing angles on this bad boy. Wondering if the matt screen is worth it compared to the glare type on the 8150
hey guys, xoticpc offers a soundcard upgrade the; Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Channels 24-bit External USB Sound Card. What does this open up in terms of sound compared to the THX onboard sound? Also is this not integrated into the laptop, or through USB? Theres another sound card option that doesn't have USB in the name. I'm wondering if $100 upgrade is worth it? -
I am very curious as to how good this matte screen is. At this point, if the matte screen is excellent I'll probably go 8130, if its only "ok" then I'll wait for the 5160.
-
I wonder who will get this laptop first
-
-
Does anyone know who makes the touchpads for Sager and if they support multitouch?
-
-
Love to hear what any owner's think of the matte screen, especially if you have had glossy in the past. I have heard that the quality makes all difference on whether a matte screen is really worth it.
-
heh my roomate and friends feel the same way >_< I'm always trying to bounce the ideas I got in my head! hehe -
Does anyone have an estimated ship/arrival date? I'm going crazy, must see pictures of matte screen! I need to pull the trigger!
-
ill have mine Thursday and might do an unboxing, but i will post my first impressions of the computer and the angles unless someone beats me to it.
-
Typing this on mine It runs much much cooler then my old laptop (T2310 on 65nm) No more being sterile! Running about 50 degrees celsius on my lap, compared to 70 degrees on the dual core.
-
Are you able to give us a review of the screen? Maybe a picture or video?
Me would love you looong time! -
-
-
I'm getting 78 dhrystone and 61 whetstone, although i believe the turbo boost isn't kicking in. Still looking into that. Viewing angle, When i look from the side the grey on this webpage takes on a yellow tinge but is still viewable.
-
How are the temps when just browsing the internet? Does the fan kick in automatically even if you're doing nothing? What about typing a document and browsing?
PS - Feel sorry for you right now with all these requests, but oh so jealous -
With the cooling in passive mode and on internet, I'm getting about 53 celsius. I assume word document would be about the same.
-
I'm giddy about purchasing this laptop. One last thing, I'm sure most people are wondering about the matte screen quality. If you can give some first impressions many people would appreciate it. Again, thanks!
-
Ok, so I didn't see it anywhere in here, so I must ask. Is there an MXM slot on this unit or not? I have heard two different replies to this. I am curious if upgrading the GPU later is an option or not. That is a large deciding factor for me between it and the 8150.
One person says the GPU is soldiered to the board and one person says it isn't at Sager. So does anyone have one of these things yet to pop the back off and take a look? -
Pretty decent, I must say. -
how is the noise when the fan kick in? is it loud or disturbing?
-
Fiery you gotta dish out the info! we craving it.
-
We don't know anything about this laptop regarding upgrades..
BIOS support, MB power support, anything could prevent a GPU upgrade. -
-
Lets see. No benchmarks that I know.
This is what I can think of now...
Hows the screen quality?
Battery life?
Do you know if the GPU is soldered to the mobo?
and is it possible to take some pictures ??
