Just ordered my Clevo W370st from PC Specialist. (also to the guy who bought one with windows 8 and removed to for windows 7 install. Why didnt you choose no OS for £70 less)

Cant wait for it to arrive in a few weeks time has anyone tried undervolting the CPU -80mv like the the thread below I know they do it for a boost because the w230st is 13inch so cooling isnt suficient.
But it should make a nice boost to ours with sufficient cooling.

I own a CLEVO W350STQ and I have a similar problem but on the secondary drive bay, my secondary HDD is a WDC WD7500BPKX-22HPJT0. The temperature stabilizes at 52-54 degrees but never drops even when gaming.
In my case i think it is an error in the laptop conception design, because the PCH chip is located on the secondary drive bay right on top of the HDD, that´s why the the HDD is always so warm, The PCH Chip warms the HDD and vice versa, my PCH temps are always at 72-74 degrees.

I´ve tested the HDD in another PC and it wont even reach 38 degrees and the PCH chip from my laptop is much cooler without the secondary HDD.

To solve that problem i will buy a Caddy for the secondary HDD, and I will put a heatsink on the PCH Chip.

    Sorry for my English.

    Hey all,
First post on here. Just ordered my Clevo W350STQ from PWN PCS two days ago without an OS. Scott from PWN PCS has been extremely helpful and professional thus far. Great experience. Will write back when it arrives!

I am currently having an issue where my W350STQ can not clock any higher than 1.46 GHz on AC Power and rather cool temps, even when running Prime95 it only shoots up to 1.49 briefly before dropping back down.

This has been bugging me for a while and I have searched several forums to no avail. Has anyone here encountered this issue, and if so is there a fix?

Edit: HOLY MOTHER OF GOD I FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT. It is the alternative power settings in the control center software installed off the disk that came with the laptop, I never even looked at those settings before and that's what was holding it back. Even worse I find it just after I post my question here :D

Has anyone had trouble with the CPU jumping to around 80 degrees on this thing when gaming for even a short period of time? After playing Starcraft 2 for 20 minutes or Planetside 2 for even less, my CPU temperatures are around 80 celcius. I blew out the vent with compressed air but that didn't seem to help much at all. I noticed there is a vent under the fan so I try to keep the laptop elevated and that does help but it only slows how quickly it reaches that temperature. My GPU temps are really good when my CPU is getting up there too. it usually doesn't go up to or past 65.

CPU temperatures will change very quickly and the fans will only speed up after the CPU reaches a certain temperature.

If you plan on doing the change yourself I would go ahead and take out the broken display now, check the model number on the back of it then search google/ebay to see if there are any available.

    Hey all,
I own a Sager NP7352 (Clevo W350ST) and am having some temperature and fan troubles. The fan kicks on quickly after doing anything tasking. I heard that some driver updates have fixed this(Bios? EC?) but I am not very well versed on these subjects and don't really know where to find them. Can anyone help me in the right direction to fix these problems?
    Thanks
    -L
EDIT: I bought the laptop in August 2013 and haven't really updated much since then. I haven't really had to do any huge maintenance on it either.
SECOND EDIT: I am having another problem with the laptop not being very stable at the bottom left corner (where my left hand rests while typing). It just seems to not be resting flat like the other three corners. Any suggestions?

Hey guys, new owner here, quick question: I flashed my W370ST's BIOS to 1.03.02, but is it safe to then flash EC Firmware to 1.03.01?

EDIT: Yes, yes it is. I just tried it. No more 100% Fan problem now. I noticed before that the fan was completely still and then it would go to 100%, but now the fan is actually on like 5% (Barely audible).

You will usually get ec and bios updates packed together. It's best to keep those pairs.

I'm thinking of getting an xmg a503 (it's close to the W350ST right?) from mysn.eu, is there anything you can tell me about fan noise as per 2014 models, and if it's better to get an ssd in the form of mSATA instead of 2nd drive (read some posts stating 2 drives give more heat so msata would be better)?

    Cheers

Hey guys! Quick question. I seem to be experiencing a stuttering problem. Randomly while watching a video or listening to music on youtube the sound will stutter for 4 seconds and the laptop will lag for a two second. This seems to be happening a bit throughout my use of the laptop. It may happen one or twice every 5 minutes. I really don't know what I should do. The core temps range from 61-69 degrees for each core while this is happening. If anyone has any advice id appreciate it.

Can you give me some more details? How would task manager help with this issue. I believe the cpu usage spikes roughly 10-15% while this is going on.

I've heard this happening to other people and seems to be related to random triggers, haven't heard anybody nailing it down to a specific cause. Main culprits would be drivers and/or heat. Have you tried out rolling back drivers to a previous version or measuring the temps on the system when these things occur?

    Good Day All,

In the market for a new laptop and I was looking at this system.

Can anyone tell me how the sound quality is on this thing, perhaps a video recording showing it? And also, heard there is a fan issue, looks like firmware that it may have been resolved, but can anyone confirm this?

Also, is there any other cons about the laptop that I should know before considering?

Thanks and appreciated for responses. :)

Sound Opinions will range from absolutely horrible to average for a laptop. You'll find the sound issues pretty well documented here on the forums though. Perhaps somebody will be willing to upload a video. I'm of the opinion that they're about average for a laptop, adequate to get by on the go. For any excellent audio you'll want to look into an external audio device.

Fan issues resolved in the latest BIOS/EC as far as I've heard. People seem to be pretty happy about them.

Personally, I find the sound quality from the speakers to be awful. It seems I can barely hear it even with the sound turned all the way up and it sounds very shallow. But that's just my opinion and I personally rarely use speakers, so it doesn't bother me all that much.

    Hey guys

So I posted earlier about the FAN problems, and I figured I might as well post a history of what I did and how I fixed it.

When I bought my W370ST from OverClockersUK, I got it without an OS because I wanted to install my own OS and I don't like Windows 8. When I received it, I installed Windows 7 and it took me a while to figure out that the Sager drivers work for the W370ST. After that, it was pretty smooth, except for the FAN problem.

A couple of days ago, I decided to do something about it. I installed the BIOS and then the EC (I called OCUK if they would replace my laptop if it bricked and they said yes cause I installed it the wrong way, it's meant to be EC first then BIOS). After that, the fans still went 100% but it was a lot less common.

So I reinstalled Windows the other day and I wanted to get to the bottom of this. I noticed that before I installed the EC/BIOS, my fan at the bottom didn't spin at all then it would go haywire. After the EC/BIOS installation, it was spinning slowly constantly but when it did go loud it would go at like 75% (Which is still pretty loud). I realised that, on the top right of the laptop keyboard, it was always on my Nvidia 765m. I contacted Nvidia about this, saying how their Optimus wasn't working properly and the guy there said it was a common issue and this is how to fix it:

Go on your Nvidia settings, go to Manage 3D Settings, click on Global and change the Preferred Graphics Processor to the Intel one. Then, go on Program Settings and choose the .exe for all the games you play (For me it was Rust, Civ 5 and CSS which was the HL2.exe). Change that to the Nvidia GPU and then click Apply.

From then on, my computer has been dead quiet as it uses the Intel GPU and when I start those three games, it uses the Nvidia GPU.

Just thought I would show my history and steps. Make sure Steam.exe is not included in the list as the 765m will run 24/7 as long as Steam.exe is open in your processes.

I got my 7370 less than a month ago so I should have the most updated BIOS, but I seem to have a different issue with my fan.

After playing a game where my fan would blast at (I assume) 100% speed for quite some time, it wouldn't stop afterwards even when I've quit playing. Once, I've left it as it is and it would run for hours until I shut down my system. There was no load or anything, all CPU were under 40C and GPU at about 30C and the fan wouldn't stop running at full power. So far, I've only gotten this behaviour after playing a game for over an hour where the fan is at full blast non-stop.

    Any ideas?

Sounds like the problem we've all been having (Or rather, the majority, including me). Go into your BIOS and let me know what your EC and BIOS Version is?

I don't know if this is true or not, but since Day 1 I always believed the fan thing to be a problem with Windows 7. I could be wrong cause I've only encountered this with my laptop, but it seems to be built with Windows 8 in mind (Look at the Windows key on the laptop, it's Windows 8).

But then I think to myself, how could Windows be the deciding factor or not?

Also, even when I did my fix above, my fan still spins, although a lot less and at least now Optimus sort of works.

Maybe later in the week, if I have time, I'll install 8 and see how it goes, but I don't think I'll be getting any results unless someone can confirm for me that they're getting the same problem with Windows 8?

Fan control is done in the firmware and is software independant.

UPDATE: Didn't work. The fan, while I'm writing this, is at full speed and the computer's not doing anything intensive. Admittedly, this is an off and on again thing. It usually doesn't happen, but when it does the only thing I can do is shut down and restart.

Yeah, it didn't work on mine either. One thing it did fix was that when my case was closed, it would still go 100% sometimes etc.

So annoying. You'd think for a £1000 laptop, this wouldn't be an issue. Otherwise, everything is pretty much perfect.

I think it has something to do with faulty temp sensors. I see my laptop with the fan full at 99°c using HW monitor. the laptop however was very cool to touch so I just let the fan run. After 15 mins it stopped and the temp fell to 40°c in a few secs.

    Right got the w370st finally.

So far the verdict is great I dont see the heat issue people. 60-65c under load with stock thermal on fresh install. With 20c ambient temperature.

Sound is Tinny especailly when im coming from an Acer 8930g which had 5.1 and Mini Sub.

Its happily undervolted and the fan is so smooth i dont know how people think its load under load it doesnt whir or anything its a slight gust.

Had to phone Microsoft to activate my Ultimate though turns out using the key over 4 years meant it was overused lol.

So far undercolted it -80mv but kept stock speeds adnyone tried overclocking the 4700mq

MY old acer was hitting 90c Gpu on a 9700m gt 1gb ddr3 so this is far more sufficient.

The display is Matte and looks great ingames jsut when I use static webpages you can tell its Matt on static white

I inserted a second drive in the other bay cloned over my original to it.
    Rebooted to original fine.
Swapped Cloned drive into first Bay.

System Completly died no leds nothing giong to RMA it

Pretty interesting. I typically will never recommend cloning but pretty strange that it resulted in this. Did you try putting the original drive back into the machine?

Yea lol at first i thought it wasnt accepting the cloned drive but original is same also.

    I was cloning from a 500gb sata 2 to 1tb sata 3.

Besides the cloning wasnt really a concern as it it was a fresh install just I had decided to use a larger HDD after the initial install and such other games/software. was only like 120gb >.. and I used acronis so it dynamically cloned it instead of the whole thing including expansion so I didnt even need to extend the partition.

And I know for sure the undervolting didnt cause it -80mv dynamic undervolt is perfectly safe from XTU, I know some people get -120mv with the I7 4700mq I am using and there was no BSODs or anything in the last 2 days of ownership. I did even stress it abit to see if it couldnt take the draw. No overclocking has been done to the device at all.

The fact that the motherboard shows no signs of life from leds and a working tested power supply is weird.

Also this intel 4600 graphics are really strong on an I7. got like 15-20+ fps on Dead Island at max because i accidently launched it with Igpu Only mode >.>

Is there still no official way to fix this fan problem? It was just on 100% for the past hour on my laptop. I've got it on top of a Belkin laptop stand plugged in, on my lap. Plenty of air. It's so annoying. I have installed the EC and BIOS. It's using the Intel GPU. Only thing I haven't done is downclocked my CPU but this is something I should not have to do at all to fix the fans.

EDIT: Right now whenever it goes off, I have to put it to sleep mode, wait 15 seconds then turn it on.

EDIT 2: Alright, so I got fed up and decided to open it and see if there was anything I could change. I took out the fan on the bottom left and I took this beast out.

Put my laptop back and now it's been quiet for a while, longer than it has been for the past 2 weeks. Don't know if or how this contributed, but it did. Guess I gotta do this every couple of months, eh.

EDIT 3: Okay now it's as quiet as a mouse. I guess it couldn't breathe properly. If everybody has tried all the fixes listed before (EC+BIOS, changing default to Intel instead of using Optimus) then also try taking out the fan. It's very easy.

Take out the screws at the back (as well as the battery). Then take out the three black screws around the fan. Take the fan out (Can be a little stubborn, especially putting it back in). Clean the fan as well as the metal vent between the case and the fan. Basically anywhere you see dust, get rid of it. Put it back in and it should work.

I've had my 7370 for about a week now, but my biggest complaint is that the HDD, (7200rpm 750GB) seems to rattle against the wrist area and makes the typing and using feel a little less comfortable. Any tips? Also, this laptop has a function that not everyone may know about, but if you hit Function then 1 above they keyboard it will switch the fan from max RPM to auto RPM, so that may help with some people that are having the fan issue.

You could try adding rubber washers to the mounting.

Fn + 1 on my keyboard disables the trackpad.

    EDIT: Oh damn, it's FN + 1, not FN + F1. Shiiiiiiet.

It's always been on Auto though.

I'm thinking about getting an NP7355, but I was just wondering why the DVD Drive is on the left side, and all the ports are on the right side? Normally it's the other way around. Why reverse it?

Well the output ports for hdmi and audio are on left, even a kegacy usb 2. 3 usb 3 are on right one being esata also.

I think its for more convenience aka i use a headset on my left port and my mouse on the right port.
