Ya, I was the one who asked about it. It seems the only difference is a backlit keyboard on the w355. I still can not find any information on it and I got sick of waiting so I just ordered the w350 (will be here wednesday the 18th) but I would of absolutely LOVED a backlit keyboard which unfortunatly is imo the only downfall of this laptop (at least for me) but I decided not a deal breaker and am very exited to recieve my w350 on Wednesday

Did they get the fan issue fixed yet? I've narrowed my choice down to the Lenova Y510p with the GT 750's in SLI or this Sager. If they haven't gotten the fan issue fixed then I'm going with the Lenova.

Also, what would be better? The GTX 765m or the GT 750m in SLI?

I would go for the single gtx 765m. The Sager runs cooler during load, while a Sli 750m would literally burn your hand when you push it to its limit. In the Lenovo y510 forum I read 2 people reporting that the heat from the vents are so hot that you need to elevate the laptop to keep from getting burned. Also take in mind that there are vents on the left and right side of the laptop, so there are now 2 vents that blow hot air.

If you do not mind a lower quality speaker go with the Sager, and unlike the Sager's touchpad, the Lenovo's touchpad is a little jumpy unless you get lucky that yours is fine..

    Just my 2 cents :)

Single 765M is way better due to consistency.

What do you mean by consistency?

Also, maybe someone can correct me but from what I've read, dual GT 750's in SLI will be more powerful than the GTX 765m provided they are the GDDR5 models. Some even say it's comparable to the GTX 770m.

    Here is a comparison chart.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M compare Nvidia GeForce GT 750M SLI GPU

    Hey guys,

Thanks for the thread. I just got my 7352 in the mail today and i have it all set up and playing BF3. Does anyone know if there is anyway to lower the fan speed during games?? I tried lowering the processor power in power options. It stopped the fan from going at full speed on windows, but when i play games, it still goes to 100%?!

I would really like a solution to this. The fan is just way too loud. My friends asus gaming laptop doesnt even get that loud and it runs games great!

    thanks

Whenever you have a dual GPU system, both GPU's have to work in tandem so you suffer from frame stuttering and display inefficiency. Single GPU system do not have that problem. Dual GPU system has more power load, affect battery life and also give out heat in multiple spots in a laptop chassis. Single GPUs have more shader cores, clock speed and Ram as a single unit.

With respect to a price tag of let's say a dicounted $899 Lenovo, a dual sys is just amazing if you want to sacrifice better cooling, display stutters and game incompatibilities. Not to mention dual sys do not have optimus which helps in saving battery life. Again its just pros and cons w.r.t cost, as a 765m laptop runs atleast >$1k price tag.

    Nice, enjoy your new NP7352!
    1. You cannot control fan speed manually and there is no software to control it.
    2. These laptops run cool just because of efficient cooling. If the fan don work 100% while gaming at high settings, it will affect CPU + GPU life as well as increase laptop surface thermals. Regarding loudness (dB) it is noisy (fan motor sys), and has been commented by multiple users. Hopefully a more silent fan tech will replace future models. Remember a 765m is more powerful than a 660m in Asus ROG's (if that's what you meant) so they give out more heat.

im trying to enjoy it but the fan is just too loud. I didnt think it would be THAT loud. I had an old dell laptop and it doesnt even come close to it. Im sorta upset i spent so much money to have a wind turbine in my room. Some people suggested i just wear headphones when i play games but when i go to a friends house, he's gonna have to hear it also. Theres no way to control the fan? Is replacing it easy or a hassle?

Sounds bad :( If it's too loud, probably you can pop the hood and check whether the fins are touching the sides or whether the heatsink is loose. Regarding changing fan may be other users with experience on this can weigh their opinions.

Try locking your frames so that your GPU and CPU don't need to push out unecessary frames. If your res is 1920x1080 at 60hz anything above 60 frames useless since your monitors refresh rate cant go higher than 60. So if your getting say 87 frames with your GPU and CPU are unecessarly working themselves for those extra frames.

Btw Clevos are known for their loud fan noise, but let me tell you that if your CPU or GPU are always getting say 85 degree celsius theb you are burning you hardware prolonging its life. The new Asus I beleive has great coolong but you would have to pump out 300$ extra for a quieter fan and the Asus is not upgradable friendly. I do love the Asus I had one for 6 months but it was outdated, a G74 but I sold it to find myself a new laptop. I DO HAVE TO SAY it was pretty silent.

I lowered my resolution to 1366x768 and lowered my CPU power management to 75%, now the fans only kick in every 10mins(at 100%). I get about 50 frames on games. Vsync is on.

I wanted this laptop to replace my 17" MSI but I'm going to have to pass. It seems as if the fans are too loud and that his a huge problem for me. I game a lot while sitting on the couch with my wife watching TV right next to me. She won't like sitting next to a wind turbine.

So after a couple days of testing and playing with the laptop, ive noticed that my speakers do this crackling noise whenever i boot into windows. And another thing ive noticed is the speakers have this low static noise while im just browsing. Its intermittent and you have to put your ear up to it to really notice it.

Ive updated the audio drivers. But im not sure if that helps.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There is an Msata slot too so you could do mSATA SSD + 2 regular HDDs if you need a lot of space for the cheapest possible.

    Hey guys,
Just purchased my W350ST and so far its been really great. I'm Happy with my purchase. Yesterday I decided to pick up a msata SSD for the new rig, so I turned it over removed the battery opened it up, removed the Hard Drive, but I am at a lost as to where the Msata SSD Port is....I'm sorry this such a silly question but I did download the owners manual which mentions the msata port but does not show the location.

OK, I have a clevo w350st ordered from xoticpc. I only have it for a month so far. This evening, I left it on and went to take a shower. When I came back out, the screen was completely dark. I tried restarting, unplugging power cord, removing battery,... but neither of them helped. I also found out that I could use a flashlight to see the image on the screen so I think there's a problem with the backlight. What should I do now?

Do you have anything in the computer like fans spinning or hard drive sounds, anything to indicate it is on but the screen is broke. Sometimes if you do take out the battery and unplug the power, then press the power button a few time, then replug power it could turn back on.

Everything works perfectly well because I did try using the HDMI cable to use my TV as an monitor. The only problem is that the laptop screen is very dim. It is on but the backlight isnt.

If comfortable doing so you can try unplugging the monitor cable to the motherboard then plugging it back in.

Hello I am new here & I've a question about the Sager NP7352, I am considering buying this laptop but have some things in mind before doing so.
The current price is fair about $1,019.00 & I wish I could learned about this laptop earlier before buying an HP laptop,
The question I have is I will order the laptop without customizing it & it will come with no OS system, does this mean I need to buy an OS or installed it somehow? I am not so bright when it comes to this, but I am guessing I can't fully use the laptop until it has an OS.

Do you recommend any upgrades or customizing? I want to keep it under 1,100.00 Sorry if I sound too cheap but my budget is not so big right now.
    Thank you!

If you select to buy it without an OS it will not be able to boot until you put a disk or USB stick and install one yourself.

If I could recommend just one upgrade for this laptop (and any laptop really) it would absolutley have to be an SSD for your boot (primary) drive. Unfortunatly that would put you over your $1100 budget but it makes such an incredible difference and is so worth it. I installed and used my first SSD in the begining of 2012 and I will NEVER use a conventional HDD for my boot drive again, it just makes too much of a difference. An SSD is absolutly the largest performance increase you can make in your laptop/desktop if you are running a conventional HDD, more than any CPU/RAM upgrade could ever give you. Of course you will want a second larger HDD for your data/secondary drive and a regular 5400/7200 HDD is fine for this.

After waiting for weeks finally got NP7352. Its a good laptop, fan noise seems not that bad as people complaining and speaker sound is just like what people said. But for me, disappointment came from the sound card itself. It just can't drive my headphone. So thinking of buying a decent sound card.

I'm on the edge of getting this laptop, but just looking around to make sure it's what I want.

Also I was wondering if there were any further discounts or perks for it (I'm ordering from xotic). I noticed there was like a referral discount as well as an extended warranty for actually being part of this forum (lol?).

We do offer a referral discount if you know someone that has purchased a comptuer from us. You can email me directly about that, click on my name in my signature and it will open an email. I'm not familiar with an extended warranty offer for being part of the forum though.

So its been about a month now since I purchased my 7352 from xotic so I have had a good amount of time to use and test it and I have to say my final verdict is that I absolutely LOVE this laptop! I have upgraded my Windows to 8.1 pro (got it free on dreamspark from my university). I did not think I would ever say this but I actually really like Windows 8.1.

I have no problem with the fan/noise from this laptop. The EC firmware has been updated a few times since this laptop was released so I think whatever issues people had with the fan/noise when this laptop was newer have been mostly ironed out. (at least in my case) Bios ver. 13 was recently released (which I just updated to the other day) which also seems to have smoothed out the fan curve a bit as well.

I have no problems with the Intel turbo boost/throttling. Processor turbo and GPU boost also works perfectly together to their max clock in 3d apps/games as well (unlike some other laptops). In fact, after undervolting the CPU, cache, and iGPU voltage by -100mV I can get the CPU and GPU to sustain max clocks even when running prime95 and furmark at the same time! (tested for 5 min and frequencies stayed stable through the whole run, even with +200 on each core in XTU)

I got the upgraded 95% lcd option and I must say the screen is beautiful. I also upgraded the wifi card to the Intel dual band 7260 ac and it works amazing. Great range, speed and stability! I have my OS installed on a m500 mSATA and this thing is fast! The day the laptop arrived I immediately changed the TIM to pk1 (I did not get the ICD upgrade) and my CPU/GPU temps are very satisfactory! CPU at max load (and +200 on each core in XTU) stays between 80-85C and idles in the mid to high 30's. My GPU temps are even better (and dont even get me started on how well the 765m overclocks!) No matter what I do I can not get the GPU above 65-67C (it never even reaches 70) even with a max overclock (+135) and +3-400 on memory)

Speakers, as others have said, are not the best, but IMO not the worst either. Messing with some of the settings in Sound Blaster really helps, and it has no problems driving my headphones either.

This laptop is also a lot smaller/lighter than I thought it would be. Since this computer was to be for college I was a little worried about portability but once I got it (and I have also been using it in school now for a few weeks) I was very surprised how light and small it really was. This laptop is a perfect size/weight for me and I have no trouble with carrying it from class to class.

I am also very satisfied with how this thing performs in games. I play Tomb Raider, Bioshock, Borderlands 2, Heavily modded Skyrim, and plenty of others with native resolution, and high settings and they run buttery smooth at 60fps or above! I was very surprised at how well the 765m paired with the 4700mq perform in modern games at high settings!

Honestly I really can not complain about anything on this laptop with this price/specs. If I had to pick something I suppose I would have liked the keyboard to be back lit but the keyboard itself is wonderful, it feels excellent to type on, and has no flex.

Anyway, I thought I would give my impressions about this great laptop now that I have been using it for a month for anyone who might still be on the fence about a purchase. I am VERY happy with my choice in a laptop, before I bought my np7352 I had actually purchased a y510p which I literally returned after 3 or 4 days and I was also thinking about waiting for the Gigabyte p35k (which I'm glad I didn't) before I settled on my 7352 and I could not be happier with it!

Sorry about the long, sort of unorganized post. Writing/English have never been my best subjects :)

    Regards,
    Michael

Lol, glad you are enjoying it, as a gaming machine it's a much better choice than the y510p.

    Hi Mike,

I'm at stock BIOS ver. 11 and EC ver. 4. Do you think I should update them to the latest? I can see latest is EC ver. 8 and BIOS ver. 14. Looks like your machine is running great :)

Glad to hear the computer has been working out for you Mike13!
We have a few people that have been waiting for the Y510 to come in stock and its good to hear you've had hands on with it and this Sager and like the Sager much better. We'll be sure to suggest this model as an alternative to those people too.

I can't wait to get it too and since my budget is tight I'll be waiting until November or December to see if there will be any offers on this laptop. I want to be able to play games on it that don't run on my current laptop. I'm still looking but I think the Sager 7352 is my final choice.

    .

    Absolutley!

Wait, ver 14? and EC ver 8? I just updated to ver 13 and EC was still on 4 .. Looks like another email to xotic then to get latest (took 2 emails and a week last time because sager wouldnt respond to the rep)

And yes, always update if you can. This laptop had a lot of fan problems when it first came out but thanks to the updates to Bios and EC firmware mine runs beautifully! I can only imagine the lates Bios/EC firmware would smooth things out even more. (could also be updates for windows 8.1 but EC controls fan so always update that for sure)

http://repo.palkeo.com/clevo-mirror/W3xxST/ your right! thanks for the heads up!

Better than I expected. In my database concepts class (which is 8am to 12 pm) with it on power saver, 40-50% brightness (which is more than enough if yopu get the upgraded lcd) and using a mixture of Microsoft Access, Microsoft Word, and web browsing I get through the entire class (4 hours) and still have anywhere between 20-35% left on battery. Im sure if I turned down brightness and shut wifi off I could maybe barley squeeze 4:45 to 5 hours from it. Thanks to the large battery it meets my needs perfectly.

If I had to make the decision again I would still pick the 7352 over any other laptop.(exept maaaybe the new p35k but no proper reviews for it yet and I have a feeling it will have heat/thermal/throttling problems which the 7352 has none of) The y510p ran waaay hot, battery life was terrible, no optimus, and the worst was no turbo boost. Cpu ran ok in single threaded workloads but as soon as it ran anything multi core it just stayed at 2.4Ghz, no matter what I tried. Real bottleneck in games.

hi guys, just updated my ec and bios to latest version (14). Although I didn't really have much fan trouble before, I found after flashing it the fan actually started to get more erratic. Where before the update it would not spin up the fan when loading programs like chrome etc. now after the update, if I load a program it spins up the fan for 5 seconds then switches off. GREAT... the updated bios seemed to have broken my already working fan. BUT over time (last week) the fan seems to have settled down again and no longer spins up, although still get the odd spin up at increased loads. just thought i'd share incase anyone else had the same experience!
