For those worrying about fan noise, I have installed the custom bios Prema Mod for our W370st, and it has been a different laptop since.. It's really quiet, but the cpu and gpu stay quite cool during load! Check it out:

    W370ST / NP7370 | Prema Mod

Also other things like CPU Turbo during Nvidia discrete GPU have been enabled, and the bios gives a lot more options!

I want to change the speakers on this laptop, because they are simply not good, they sound tinny. Is there a different speaker that will fit and work well?

    Thanks

No, all notebooks use custom sized speakers.

You could buy an external set of course.

Regarding noise issue: We have two Clevo w370st that we bought last summer. One has been fairly much constantly noisy, even triggering full fan when browsing etc. The other one has been better, but not reliably quiet either. The main issue has been the random spinning up and down for no real load. Have done BIOS updating, with sligthly better result I think. A couple of days ago I changed the thermal paste on the CPU and the GPU using Arctic Cooling MX-4. Now they're both quiet as mice. The original paste seemed quite messy and took some cleaning. Typical stock pad thing. The most noisy one hasn't spun up once, and it's been used the same as usual, for browsing etc. The originally slightly quieter one has seen some gaming, and it's not even spinning up fully like it used to. It's also performing better. It's just been used for Kingdoms of Amalur though, heavier games will probably get it going full fan. I regret not doing this earlier, didn't want to open up a stock computer.

Thanks for the info on that man.

Wondering if anyone installed the Prema Mod for the 15" version of this laptop. I installed the official Sager updated BIOS and it seems to be working a bit better with the fan issue now.

I took the plunge and installed the Premamod bios.

I would recommend anyone who knows how to do a proper bios flash to do it. The laptop is really quiet and still cool to the touch. Whatever they did, it's working. :)

Apparently you can download it from there site and just flash it again. It will just replace it from what they say.

Hey has anyone placed an additional hard drive in this laptop (in the second bay). I'd like to know if there have been any loses in battery life with doing that. I'l probably need to put more space on the system as I'm filling up pretty quickly with RAW files and video files.

Depends on the use of the extra drive. The more it gets accessed the more power it uses.

I have a problem with the CPU fan on my Clevo W350STQ. I have an external monitor connected to the laptop. The fan behaves very differently under equal load:
    1) Power saver mode active, battery connected, charger not connected: the CPU goes up to ~62C, motherboard to ~63C and then for 2-3 minutes calmly cools the CPU down. The laptop stays quiet until ~20 minutes have passed, then the cooling starts again. In this way, the laptop's screen is at lowest brightness.
    2) Power saver mode active, battery connected, charger connected: the CPU goes up to ~62C, motherboard up to ~63C and then FULL FORCE cools the CPU down in 40 seconds or so. The laptop stays quiet until 6-7 minutes have passed, then the cooling starts again. In this way, the laptop's screen is at maximum brightness.
Could installing Prema Mod BIOS fix this or is there another solution?

The only cleaning I've done was in february or march, when I opened the back cover and cleaned the insides of some dust with a can of compressed air. I think I cleaned the heatsinks with that too.

Anyone have a hard drive in the secondary slot (beside the cpu) that's running hotter than expected? Originally, I had the western digital 7200rpm that came with it in that slot and it stabilizes around 46 degrees C. I just installed the new Crucial MX100 and it's actually stabilizing at 51 degrees C. Is this normal? How is a SSD running hotter?

I have a subtle keyboard problem with my Sager NP7355, and I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it on this thread yet. There's a barely perceptible delay in keypresses being acknowledged and some keystrokes are dropped, particularly the second of a double letter press, or capital letters, or spaces being missed.

I was worried that it was a hardware problem and fearing that I would have to live with bad hardware for years until I replace this laptop, but I have confirmed that it's a software/driver issue, and I think related to the video drivers. I recently did a clean reinstall (Win7 x64) after several months of having the problem, and the problem went away, so I assumed that it was something corrupted in my previous installation. I had also installed the Prema BIOS mod not long before reinstalling but it did not affect things either way. However, after a couple of weeks I figured it was time to configure the Nvidia Optimus stuff so I pressed the button on the laptop to switch from orange to green, and I immediately noticed the keyboard issue. The problem is, I can't make it go away. Not by switching back, not by changing Intel video or Nvidia video settings.

I tried uninstalling the Nvidia drivers completely, and the problem was still there, so I reinstalled the Nvidia drivers (both the ones from the Sager website and the latest from Nvidia). I tried installing the latest Intel video driver for the 4600 onboard, and it didn't help. Then I tried uninstalling the Intel video driver completely, so that the Device Manager just showed a generic VGA adapter, and the keyboard worked perfectly again! Of course, video performance was sluggish, and I couldn't use the discrete card at all because Optimus seems to be the only way to trigger it,but the keyboard was good.

I then tried a clean Windows installation with no updates or anything, and the keyboard was fine. I installed ONLY the Intel video driver and Nvidia video driver from the Sager website and the keyboard was sluggish and dropping keystrokes immediately. I don't know why that didn't happen on my previous reinstallation, because it worked fine for weeks with all drivers installed, until the first time I touched the "VGA" button to change it from orange to green.

I'd like to know if anyone else has noticed this issue or tried to fix it. I'm going to keep poking away at it, because I can't spend the next 5 years in fear of needing to reinstall every time I accidentally press that button.

Its not made to do anything when you press it but it should change color indicating use of the Intel or Nvidia GPU.

Please try not to misinform people please.

The VGA button on top Right is meant to light up yours is faulty.

By default it Lights up Orange meaning it will default to Nvidia GPU for most applications that require gpu (unless they need set manually to do it)

This button When pressed then will go green (Button will still be lit but not change anything without clevo control centre installed)

When green the Laptop is set to use Intels Graphics only and the power profile will be set to UMA mode.
In this state all programs will use intel graphics only even if set to use nvidia gpu previously.

Its more of a power save feature

I own a pc specialiset Clevo just contact them if it much of an issue

Yes it does not physically switch optimus off, it's a software switch over a hardware one but it does stop programs accidently using the dGPU when on battery as said above by pointing them all to the igp.

Does anyone know or have any drivers that allow me to use the Stereo Mix feature on our sound cards? It does not seem to come up in the recording options even when I check 'disabled' or 'disconnected' devices.

Hey guys, I have an NP7358 with Windows 8.1 and I'm having a slight problem.

I can't find a way to turn off Edge Swiping on the touchpad. When I accidentily brush over the pad from right edge, the annoying Charms bar pops up.

I looked online and it said to go into the Synaptics settings and uncheck "Enable Edge Swipes", but this setting is nowhere in my Synaptics settings. I tried every other setting to no avail. I'm using the most recent Synaptics driver from the Sager website.

I also have Classic Shell installed, but it can't disable this for some reason.

Yeah it's Synaptics. I installed the driver from the Sager website and it worked (but that version was from April). I then tried the Synaptics driver from the official website and got the "failed" message.

    Hey guys,

Recently it seems that my system is using my nvidia graphics all the time. I base this on the fact that the high performance light is constantly on, even when I'm not gaming or anything high intensive.

Although from dxdiag and from my display options, it appears that the integrated graphics are being used, then why is my high performance light on and not the battery/economy mode on?

Would appreciate any assistance. I am using windows 8.1

    Thanks guys.

Hey Meaker, yes I uninstalled the old drivers first.

Here is the page where I got the drivers: Drivers – Synaptics (it's the one at the top of the list for Windows 8/7/etc)

    I'm on Windows 8.1 Update 1

2nding SpinalTarp's question. Considering I've been without a mouse recently, the Charms bar is extremely annoying. It kicks me out of whatever full-screen application I'm in.

I've been all over Google and landed on Meaker's link. For the life of me, nothing I've tried has worked. I've disabled Driver Signature Enforcement and tried installing an older version. It doesn't do anything - the Synaptics folder isn't even generated, despite the installation claiming success.

    Thanks for the suggestion Meaker.

I ended up installing a P150HM (random Clevo machine) Windows 7 touchpad driver and that solves the problem for me. I can still use the touchpad to scroll, but the annoying Charms swipe doesn't register anymore.

What's the difference between the Sager NP7370 and Sager NP7355? Also, I'm considering purchasing a NP7355, what issues should I be worried about?

The difference is screen size, 15.6 inch for the 7355 and 17.3" for the 7370.
