Nope, it is user manual. Service manual has more details such as how to replace the CPU and GPU, cross-section schematic, etc.

A test of the SLI configuration would be even more interesting
-
For a LED glossy screen ~200nits is a bit low, IMHO.
-
Figure Id throw out something I came across while looking at the desktop processor 980x that is supose to be an option with the x7200.
As far as Nvidia just remember that ati hasnt had any major malfunctions as nvidia has with there 8800 mobility series. As nice as it is to think geting back on the nvidia bandwagon is fun and exciting, make sure you consider reliability and utility also. -
yeah, thats a bunch of nonsense...
i have a 980x and 12 gb of ram.
and a nivida card that doesn't give me the gsod like my ati cards did. -

The 980x is VERY soon (next month) to be dethroned as the top dog. The 990x will be offered very soon in this beast!
BTW, Who wants to buy my 980x real soon?? -
with over clocking...you might as well keep that 980
-
Why on earth would you buy the 990x if you have the 980x????? Basically the same cpu with a slightly higher frequency, which we all OC anyway, what a waste of time lol
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
All I can say is dealers have privileges that equal...why not in my case...
-
Ok, in that case true, why not indeed
-
Ah, 990X....Sounds sweet!
Wish I had the money for another beast... Oh, well... -
Intel 2011 extreme Core i7 is 990X - Processors - Fudzilla
According to Fudzilla, the 990X will come out in Q1 2011. So there's a lot of waiting involved. -

It was originally slated for September (next month release). We will see. You can easily find others saying this in the below link.
New Intel Core i7 990X Extreme coming in September - Bright Side Of News* -
any word on this baby yet?? int he pics it looks like a all aluminum finish? or am i blind??? or is it plastic? im sold on this if it has the metal type finish.... in some pic it looks decently thin,,, and in other picks it looks as thick as a loaf of bread....
what are some rough estimate prices on this beast? with stock configurations with the 480m sli of course...... -
It's plastic, AFAIK. Metal would be heavier and most likely get hot.
It's pretty thick, thicker than a loaf of bread, lol.
The price for a stock config with 480M SLI would be between 3.5-5k, depending on a reseller. -
damnnn,,,is it true that this puppy uses desktop CPU???
-
yes, up to i7 980x (atm - 990x when it is released)
-
-
^^ The pic doesn't prove the point. What makes you think it's aluminum? I wish that were true!
-
I just posted the pic since it was the highest resolution picture of the X7200 I've so far. What proves my point is the review that was linked by mySN some pages ago. Probably was overlooked since the review is in German. They also said that the X7200 display was the brightest they tested so far - but they didnt test that many recent laptops...
Here you go:
-
Test from Schenker.
-
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
that makes more sense
-
man i wish i could afford this bad boy,,, 4 grand for the sli is sooooo steeep
-
Thanks! I missed that one.
From the review I see a few unpleasant points:
* Low screen brightness, - under 200nits. For a glossy screen?
* Very loud (but with 4 fans and the components used - that's inevitable)
* High surface temps when at load.
Other than that the beast is very impressive. -
It should be more than enough for indoor use. Nobody will use this thing outside anyway.
Pretty impressive. Now oc those GTX 480M to GTX 465 clocks or even better bring GTX 460 / 256 bit to laptops and overclock those and you easily have a laptop that is more powerful than most gaming desktops. -
I am not impressed so much
I expected (for that price) the mobile fermi SLI would scale up much better...
However, I agree with your second point. The true power of this beast is not in ist 'default' settings, that is a given. It definitely cries to be tuned a little bit. One can speculate that it might be necessary to flash desktop GTX BIOS in order to get the GTX 465 clocks. It is not clear to me whether SLI would still work properly, let alone whether this machine would be able to handle all the power consumption and heat output. Though I really hope it will, that would be a killer machine! -
Are you kidding? Below 200 nits is terrible, actually beyond terrible. My iPhone is much brighter than that. Just for comparison, the M17x RGB LED is ~320 nits. Maybe resellers will try to differentiate themselves by offering better displays but I doubt it, most of them are all clones of each other. What a disappointment. -
The average gamer will say the same thing. Hard to see a big market for it.
-
you mean the low budget market...lol
rich people could careless about the price.
"is this top of the line"
"why yes it is"
"i'll take 3 of them"
lol -
I'll take 5 and a bugatti with frosting please!
-
Joker, I'm not even going to ask what you're going to do with that frosting. What happens on the mothership, stays onthe mothership.
I can see this will be a most excellent laptop, however, for most people, the weight of it will be a big turn-off. -
exactly!!
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
There are a couple of gaming laptop I know of that is more than the 11.6lbs this one is. IMO, that won't be a turn off in itself...
-
I don't care about the weight (used to bring my M17X to work every day,... by feet) but the low brightness might be an issue. Especially if it gets dimmer after a few months. My first AW system had a 200nits screen, and I couldn't use it at the office with decent amount of ambient light.
If it was anti glare - that could be acceptable, IMHO.
The contrast of 1000+:1 is a strong point, BTW. -

I can't tell you how many times a pre-release Clevo model had some review (Pre-release) and it wasn't at all the final release display on it. This happened of late with the W870CU, W860CU and the x8100. The screens shipping on these after the review had better stats.
Of course I do not know at this point what the final release display will be on this beast, but this is Clevo's flagship system. -
Well, I've been camping for a few months and will be camping as long as needed, till all the cards are played
-
Yeah, I think you're right. I thought it's about the same brightness that the W860CU has, which I pretty good, but the W860CU has 308 on average, the X7200 only has 197 on averave (m17x R2 has 292 on average). That truely is disappointing. But apperently the contrast ratio of 965:1 is not bad, the W860CU has 656:1 (m17x R2 has 743:1). But overall Clevo still seems to lack behind in terms of display quality.
-
I'm not sure which source you're citing for the R2 white balance but it's actually brighter than that. Anandtech did a measure of the panel using the M6500 (shares the same panel as M17x-R2) and here's what they saw:
I'm sure the readings can vary depending on what tool is used to measure it but the 292 nits avg figure is on the low side, it's definitely above 300 nits avg. Apart from 10-bit IPS displays, this is the 2nd best display one can get in a notebook--well the best you can get for gaming purposes since IPS falls short in that category. -
He was probably referring to this review, but that's a Dual CCFL panel not RGB LED, according to Notebookcheck. Though...I don't recall the quality of a regular CCFL screen to be that high. Weird.
-
Yeah if they can't even figure out what panel they're testing, I give them zero credibility. Anandtech's numbers seem spot on. -
They can be used for some references but yes, I agree with you.
-
this beast is not out yet for purchase right??
@aikimox, i looked at your hp8740w review and damn!!!!! i want an ips lcd for my next monitor purchase, the dell u2x10 series looks tempting

LOL I like that babyhemi! +1 for the good work.
-
babyhemi, +1 from me too for the cool pic
Given that X7200 screen is 17.3'' 16:9, does anyone know how much shorter it is compared to a classic 17.1'' 16:10? (OK, probably I could do the math, but I am lazy. If I manage to do the math before someone has posted it here, I will post it myself.
)
EDIT: OK, here we go: X7200 screen has a vertical of 21.5 cm, a classic 17.1'' 16:10 has a vertical of 23 cm, and a classic 15.4 16:10 has a vertical of 20.7 cm. -
