The Backlit keyboard is handy but I guess, one can live with a regular one and use some USB light or stickers.
The beast will have an active lifespan of one solid year, meaning Clevo will add support for newer GPU's (hopefully Kepler lands in there, or at least Blackcomb).
Many screens will soon appear for the 17" 1080p format, and hopefully we can get an anti glare 300nit IPS/OLED/OLET by H2 2011. Also, 990X will surely be a nice little bump.

I didnt know gaming screens could utilize ips technology cause of the delay in ms, would be cool if they could get it lowered. I love oled, cept theres not even any tv's out yet so thats going to be awhile. I would think something like WiDi would be suitable for a rig like this, maybee its not all that big of a deal yet though. I can tell you Id surely buy one though If I had 5k laying around. Three million transistors in one gpu is to sexy disregarding price. This laptop reminds me of the asus w90, even though newegg sold alot of them, wonder if sales will compare any to it.

500W PS.....AFAIK a standard desktop PS unit would not work because it only puts out 12V max. I'm guessing that inside the laptop it steps it down below even 12V, but if the laptop is expecting 20V.... 12V won't fly.

In theory, it should be relatively easy to build a regulated power supply but don't expect it to have any of the safety features that the factory one will.

My HP 8740w has an IPS and gaming is very smooth. I'm yet to discover the lag everyone is talking about. Sniping E's online is just as easy as on TN screens, so dunno.

Once you use a good IPS screen its hard to take any laptop screen or even the majority of desktop screens very seriously .. They work and they are decent but they just cant compare at all IMHO..

The Hannstar screen is nice albeit not the brightest but im not sure about the 140 nit one they used as that seems really low and must have been somewhat of a defect..

I doubt anyone will be truly disappointed with the current screen in the X7200 and when the time comes and the 120hz screens become available upgrading should be a cinch...

Anyone want to send me their new X7200, and I try plugging in the 24V one and see if the smokes stays inside???

On a serious note, someone could take a peek at the service manual and see what the circuit does to step the 20V input down to the board level. I'd be more apt to try the 16V one listed on that page.

Well I asked them over email and phone to make sure, it was one of the big reasons why i got it. I guess I'll find out for sure when i get it. Only if their processing didnt take forever... As for the LCD, I wouldn't imagine they would be different but it seems some people complain about its quality and it not being LED?

They will all use the same exact screens .. Hannstar which are LCD LED FULL HD etc.. So whether you go with Sager directly or Xotic or AVA they will be the same... They all come from the same source ;)..

Apparently it's the same screen as the G73JH, According to that review at notebookcheck.net, is that the same as the JW? If so how is it? Is it bright enough?

Here it is in german...Das verbaute Hannstar HSD173PUW1 Panel ist kein Unbekannter und überzeugte bereits bei anderen High-End-Notebooks (z.B. Asus G73JH) mit einer hohen Bildqualität. Durch den erfreulich niedrigen

It is the same screen though there may have been revisions of the same panels as some are brighter then the others..

Its hard to say if the one on notebookcheck was defective or just a different rev..

LG used to do this alot where the model number was the same but the last four letters and numbers could tell you alot about the screen ex TLA3 TLA2 . Whether Hannstar follows a similar path is different story.. Also the inverter they use which controls the brightness could be different as well ...

if i could use an ipad to fix other computers, i would then get one. but since it's just an app phone...it's a no go. and using that 10 hours to watch hd movies on the internet will rack up a nice heafty bill out here. since there is not such thing as unlimited data for iphones and ipads in california. not sure about anywhere else though.

Has anyone tried to install the Nvidia Verde drivers on this machine? For some reason I can't and it is one of the arguments of Nvidia, that now you can use drivers from then and not the manufacturer that takes forever to update....
