Mine too, been there at customs all weekend according to fedex! Why oh why did I chose fedex?!?!

Another guaranteed raping on customs from fedex which they like to miscalculate excessively

Due for delivery today though, I hope its a case of fedex not bothering to update their track info, but the damn package is moving in my direction... I hope

New Zealand is one of the least corrupt countries on the planet, there isn't any bribes, rip offs, or back handers with Govt Officals.

But I will have to pay $1000 of GST (Goods and Service Tax), I can claim it back as it's a company expense.

Im reading in the other thread that the 480s' coupled with the 980x is shuting the laptop off because of the watts are to much for the power supply which is only 350 watts. Anyone else looking into this ?

It should only be a problem in games that really tax the hardware. That includes titles like Crysis though which would be used to show off such a laptop

I use a 37" 1080P TV as a computer monitor for gaming and it works great but30" or 32" would probably be even better.

Just make sure it has a decent DPI. I have a 52" 720p tv (was only $500 :D) and it is not so great for games unfortunately. Blu Ray still looks amazing though :)

What's a decent TV/monitor for gaming around $500? I don't need a big one, about between 19" to 23" will do. I would like one with decent color reproduction and high contrast ratio.. but then again, everyone wants that lol

btw it's so cold in VA right now lol

It is not THAT cold haha, it will get worse!

For $500 you can actually get a really good quality 24" screen. I have a Gateway FHD2400 and I really like it. You cannot find them any more but is an example. Dell seems to be a good source for monitors from what I have heard. You can also afford to consider 120Hz screens at that price range.

Worse? Don't make me lough! :p
You have no idea what cold is. Here, in Alberta the temps during winter can plummet 50C in 24 hours, from 0C to -50C. Not to mention that regular (average) winter temps are -20-30C. So much fun.
Now you know, why I need gaming laptops - to stay warm! :D

I spend a fair amount of time in Wyoming at winter, it is regularly around 0F (-18c) there, so I kind of know cold (and that is at the valley altitudes, in the mountains drop another 20-30c)

If last winter was any indication, we can expect between 10-20f pretty often here this winter though (here being northern VA - cold enough to bench a laptop on the front porch haha ;))

Yeah, that would surely be cold enough. Last winter I was able to lower the 9400 temps in the R1 from 70C to 55 just by opening a window, hehe.

I did all of my 4870 benches before the chest freezer on the front porch last winter lol. I would start a run, go and shovel some snow, come back and check. That got me over 14k vantage and 18686 in 06 haha

The weather in richmond is pretty nice, other than the fact that I have to get up early for school.. That's cold. And to whoever (you know :D) that lives in Canada, you are used to cold weather...

Back on topic (as if there is one), any good monitor suggestions aikimox?

Monitors are very subjective for people, my recommendation is go somewhere like bestbuy that has a bunch on display and look at them. Figure out what you like. That coupled with some online research can do you well. Then find where ever the one you like is sold the cheapest.

Hit or miss. They do not carry the highend ones because they are generally too incompetent (along with much of their clientèle) to actually sell them. I do not think there is a MicroCenter near you, but they also have a good selection usually as well. (There is one up in fairfax though if you are up for a couple hour drive haha)

Tapping my foot waiting, held up by slow customs brokers, now I have to wait two more days to get the beast.

A beast so powerful it's too powerful for it's own power supply, i hear its even more powerful than Chuck Norris!!
