Mine too, been there at customs all weekend according to fedex! Why oh why did I chose fedex?!?!
Another guaranteed raping on customs from fedex which they like to miscalculate excessively
Due for delivery today though, I hope its a case of fedex not bothering to update their track info, but the damn package is moving in my direction... I hope

New Zealand is one of the least corrupt countries on the planet, there isn't any bribes, rip offs, or back handers with Govt Officals.
But I will have to pay $1000 of GST (Goods and Service Tax), I can claim it back as it's a company expense. -
-
The government continue to bend us over
-
Laptop was only $4254, Freight was $359, convert to NZD @1NZD = 0.72 USD makes it Approx $6448 + GST is 15%, total cost $7423. Ouch! -
Jesus Christ of Nazareth! Thats alot to pay man, Your country has officially won the rip off crown with UK is second place.
Mine only costs the about $4900 NZD, with postage customs tax, everything! I feel for you man, damn! -

How's the other x7200 owners going out there? How's your machine running?
-
Yes, it is very quiet, thought they'd be making so much more noise
-

It is the same beast, Eurocom lol, I never look at them seriously, crazy prices. Your link not working
-
Does it hover just off the desk when the fans are on full? "We have lift off Captian"
I'm still waiting on mine to clear customs. -
Im reading in the other thread that the 480s' coupled with the 980x is shuting the laptop off because of the watts are to much for the power supply which is only 350 watts. Anyone else looking into this ?

cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Do not expect to hear resellers saying that haha, you will have to wait for more users to confirm
-
I have no interest in over clocking so mine should run sweet, if it doesn't and isn't a quick fix I will buy a M17x -

Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!

Speedy, you mentioned this happened during the Mafia 2 benchmark. Have you experienced it in any other games? -

It should only be a problem in games that really tax the hardware. That includes titles like Crysis though which would be used to show off such a laptop

Does anyone know if I could use a 30" LCD TV (Tv not just monitor) with these 480M's, want to game on it in ultra setting and full size of the tv monitor.
-
Yeah just plug it into HDMI and your all set..
-
-
I use a 37" 1080P TV as a computer monitor for gaming and it works great but30" or 32" would probably be even better.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
) and it is not so great for games unfortunately. Blu Ray still looks amazing though
-
What's a decent TV/monitor for gaming around $500? I don't need a big one, about between 19" to 23" will do. I would like one with decent color reproduction and high contrast ratio.. but then again, everyone wants that lol
btw it's so cold in VA right now lol -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
It is not THAT cold haha, it will get worse!
For $500 you can actually get a really good quality 24" screen. I have a Gateway FHD2400 and I really like it. You cannot find them any more but is an example. Dell seems to be a good source for monitors from what I have heard. You can also afford to consider 120Hz screens at that price range. -
You have no idea what cold is. Here, in Alberta the temps during winter can plummet 50C in 24 hours, from 0C to -50C. Not to mention that regular (average) winter temps are -20-30C. So much fun.
Now you know, why I need gaming laptops - to stay warm! -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I spend a fair amount of time in Wyoming at winter, it is regularly around 0F (-18c) there, so I kind of know cold (and that is at the valley altitudes, in the mountains drop another 20-30c)
If last winter was any indication, we can expect between 10-20f pretty often here this winter though (here being northern VA - cold enough to bench a laptop on the front porch haha)
-
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I did all of my 4870 benches before the chest freezer on the front porch last winter lol. I would start a run, go and shovel some snow, come back and check. That got me over 14k vantage and 18686 in 06 haha

The weather in richmond is pretty nice, other than the fact that I have to get up early for school.. That's cold. And to whoever (you know
) that lives in Canada, you are used to cold weather...
Back on topic (as if there is one), any good monitor suggestions aikimox? -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Monitors are very subjective for people, my recommendation is go somewhere like bestbuy that has a bunch on display and look at them. Figure out what you like. That coupled with some online research can do you well. Then find where ever the one you like is sold the cheapest.
-
I always thought the monitors they sell at bestbuy are not very good... lol
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Hit or miss. They do not carry the highend ones because they are generally too incompetent (along with much of their clientèle) to actually sell them. I do not think there is a MicroCenter near you, but they also have a good selection usually as well. (There is one up in fairfax though if you are up for a couple hour drive haha)
-
OK... But I will probably get a laptop before a monitor lol
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
That would be the logical way to do things
-
good monitor NEC ips, or Samsung LED if you are looking to save a few dollars.
I use NEC in the office, really nice colors.
NEC MultiSync EA231WMi -
Tapping my foot waiting, held up by slow customs brokers, now I have to wait two more days to get the beast.
A beast so powerful it's too powerful for it's own power supply, i hear its even more powerful than Chuck Norris!!
