Yep. And you might get a higher score just by unblocking the vent. (Although not by a lot of course... more like 50 points lol)

but hey 50 is better then nothing

Hey Stormknight can you run vantage with this clocks ?
Uploaded with ImageShack.us -
Here my stable results @ 84°C Prime95
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
That is a decent boost to bclk
And being able to use setfsb is awesome! -
post the memory speed as well...
what cook said. that's awesome! -
Great! But the cpu temp a bit high, you need to replace the stock paste on that cpu
-
is that 84 across all 4 cores or is that tcase temp?
-
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
@ Upper1 you can run this program while you're running prime 95 please?
CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting
Awesome find -
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
i try the same pll.# on the D900F and it looks like is overclocked but a soon as you stress the cpu the clocks go down to stock i hope is not the case on the X7200
-
You should get the XTU with your order shouldn't you speedy, no more setfsb worries
-
his apparently got lost....in shipping

cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
That is certainly an odd thing to do lol.....
"Lets block a fan!" -
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
if they blocked the fan vent is for some reason maybe they want to circulate more air into the machine to cool other components
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I would normally agree with you speedy, but the way the laptop is laid out there is not really anything that would benefit from such a change.
-
Yeah I didn't catch that the first time I saw the pics either. Looks like a really bad paste job. -
The X7200 sucks in air from the bottom and then pushes it out the sides and back - a blocked vent doesn't make sense to help circulate in that fashion I wouldn't think? --CK
-
They did it so air will be more concentrated in the case of only one GPU? Many pictures about this all have one vent blocked.
-
Its the chipset heatsink fan intake, surely it cant be blocked
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
-
Not sure if it's a blocked fan or poor paste job, but the other GPU temps don't look that awesome either, - 84C in Vantage is kinda high, IMO.
I see a huge inconsistency between what was posted so far, by resellers and owners. Makes you think.... -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
The resellers could just be using ICD7 where most consumers are not

Anyway, 480M is a history, make room for the extreme! -
The Revelator Notebook Prophet
Clevo/Sager does the same thing with the NP86960 (W860CU), blocking the air vent right underneath the CPU on the same theory of directed airflow, but most people remove them in short order, reducing CPU temps by 8-10C on that model. May or may not apply here.

I made some timedemos with L4D 2. Anyone with an X7200 want to give them a try? L4D2Demos.zip
Use the max settings for it at your highest resolution. -
hi, forgive my noobness but is there a guide or tutorial somewhere for Vantage? i would like to familarize myself with the program so I can check my x7200 when it gets here.
-
The X7200 just got added to the Multicom (Norwegian reseller) website and the price difference from 1 x 460M to 2 x 480M is 9800kr which is around 1670 USD.
It does not look like there is an HDMI input if anyone was wondering (And the webcam is set to 3 megapixles ) 12GB of ram is for now the max, and there is no Xeon cpus offered, but they offer it with the Quadro FX3800 as a gpu choice.
Is there any news on when the 3. gen of Intel SSD's will come, and when we will see larger 7200RPM HDD's then 500gb? Also any news on the release date on 470M considering the 460M is here? -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
That is about the right price delta between GTX 480m SLI and a GTX 460m lol.....no one said it was cheap
-
Anyone have any info about raid 10 for x7200?
-
Link to Multicom if anyones was interested: http://www.multicom.no/SystemConfigurator.aspx?q=st:10596158;c:100560;fl:0 -

It sounds like waiting will be best for you then haha
There is a very good chance the 470M's will be able to eclipse the 480M's in performance once overclocking is taken into account -
BTW, look at the fancy tribal logo at the back of the X7200 Multicom is offering haha! -

Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
3DMark Vantage (Build 1.0.2) download from Guru3D.com
they give you a free run but you will need to purchase a key if you want to run it more than one time
Futuremark - Benchmarks - 3DMark Vantage - Buy it -

BTW, Multicom sounds like Eurocom to me. And given that both offer 460M's when no one else including Clevo advertised that GPU option, - I say that both are the same company (speculation of course) of hornswogglers! -
Hobo said: ↑Hmm, yeah. But I doubt overclocking is really needed for any of the cards to play most games at decent settings (except for badly coded games like for example GTA4, Crysis etc).

from your pics, it seem you should repaste both gpu immediately 100 is too far from what we've seen in this laptop (80+ for another gpu is hot too)

Hobo said: ↑Haha, what an awful thing to say. Acctually Multicom is a really good reseller, but it's a shame that they are the only supplier in Norway. They can then ofc have insane prices (but then again nothing in Norway is really cheap...) The reason Multicom put up the X7200 so late was that they said they would not put it on their website until they were 100% sure they could deliver the systems with shipping datesClick to expand...
They do look very similar, though, in both the prices and the advertisement of non-existent products/options
But since they joined the race with such a delay, they're probably not directly associated with Eurocom, lol. -
Kevin_Jack2.0 said: ↑Crysis is far from badly coded, my man.Click to expand...
And yeah, Multicom is usually late with the products, BUT they are usually one of the resellers that ship the first systems with new hardware (don't ask me why) -
Here some news
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
It is a low resolution though....so not very meaningful for comparison
-
Yeah run it at 1080p if you're going to do an extreme run.
-
Why would they be saying the 1333 ram is only for the 980x, upper1 has 1333 ram with his 920, I was thinking of upgrading the CPU later it seem pointless to have to upgrade the ram also??
