I think some hinted on the end of this week early next week ..

Of course who knows how many they will get and how many pre orders they have to fill ...

Clearly as others have said this machine is in much stronger demand then they expected ... But thats a good thing :).

Hopefully this machine has a strong community and a few enthusiasts sprinkled on top :D..

High end computers are always out of stock because of "higher demand than expected".

Yes if your somewhat newer to the top end stuff just leave it all stock for awhile or forever for that matter..

You can spend some time on here watching other people doing crazy stuff you will never need to do :)..

Should I have chosen Raid? Am I right in thinking that it would turn 1TB of space (2x500GB) into 2 lots of the same 500GB of data? For speed and protection of data? Is that right? Is it that much faster? I feel I'd need the whole TB for storage instead of halving it.

You can do raid0 so having all the same amount of space but more speed with both drives working together as one but you would run the risk if one drive croaks then all date is lost...

If i were you and spending this kind of loot i would get a smaller IE 80 gig or so SSD if you want maximum speed for the boot/Windows drive then keep the 500s as storage..

Since you have Hybrid drives if your happy with the performance then you may not even want an SSD at all but i would worry about all this stuff after you get the machine because you might be completely content with what you have right out of box..

^^^^Yes with the speed of SSD's now days with these high end systems who really needs raid. Many that I have talked to really like the speed of the 500GB Seagate with the 4GB SSD as well.

I'm in grad school for another......71 days.......I have a job with a $5k sign on bonus waiting for me, but i won't get it till December. So, I have no option but to wait, which is why I'm considering the 470m sli. I'm not someone to play the "wait for the next new release" game

    Oh YES.... ;)
It has such a solid quality feel, the display puts forth nice colors and blacks. This machine is amazingly quiet considering all lf the power and the 4 fans that this beast has. It is every bit as quiet even under load as the W880CU Clevo model that has just one 480m in it. As for the temps? They are amazing as well as this machine idles in the low to mid 40's for the GPU's and higher 40's for the 980x CPU. Under stress it usually stays in the upper 60's or 70's C. There is so much more good to say. As I have mentioned before the only negative that I see is that the power brick is larger than I would like. But with all of this power I can live with that. This one is a KEEPER!!

I decided to go with 2 Crucial C300s in RAID 0 and a 500GB for backup. I know the C300s have a 6GBps interface and the X7200 only has SATA II, but in RAID 0 they should still perform pretty well.

This brings my total build to just south of $5,300. Should all be worth it. I can't imagine how fast Outlook and IE will be now.....lol

Oh, did I mention I sometimes put this on the back of my sportbike on the way to work.... I think the laptop is now worth more than the bike.... lol

I think I read it's 15amp, that will blow most circuits and power strips in New Zealand as the standard household plug is only 10amp. Is it really 15amp?

Lucky its 15amp output at 20v not input at 110-240v, wow the battery must last all of 15 minutes. The dockings station brick on my Sony is about the same size but the actual laptop one is about half the size.

anyone who is actually using a battery with this is foolish, other than for brief unplugs when scrambling for another AC outlet.

I've been thinking....if it would free up more space inside the laptop, why not incorporate the battery into the power cord instead of having it inside the laptop itself? ergo, if you wanted you make the power cord modular (for lack of a better term) so you could swap out for AC power, a battery, or maybe even string both.

On my NP9262, I have three A/C adaptors I leave at the clients I do alot of work at so I don't have to carry the 1-2Lb adaptor.

When I ordered my X7200, I decided not to get any extras. They are a $170 option. But, looking adround the internet for something cheaper didn't turn up anything. I guess I'll have to deal with carrying it every day or break down and buy a few extras.

I can use my M17x for about 1.5 hours on battery if I set everything to power save mode. And it has nearly the same GPU performance as the X7200. That desktop CPU is a real drain.

I am looking for a backpack for this behemoth and not having much success.

I travel all the time and use the Targus XL for my 9262. The Targus is comfortable but it does not have enough storage outside of the laptop.
Anyone have any good ideas on backpacks for the 7200? I am not going to subject my shoulder to a bag style for my long jaunts through airports.

Im sure there are power saving measures you can take to get the best battery life... The 45minute thing was probably nothing more then setting the machine to power saving mode and not tweaking other things..

Thanks for the benchmarks. Is that OC the max you can get out of your 480M's? If not, could you max out your 480m clocks and re-run it?

Considering baby-hemi's score at 18670 (OC) and the GPU temps at 75 and 77 degrees.
Those temps and that score do not look right to me?

Eurocom Panther 2.0 (x7200) have removed the fan housing so now all four are vented? Does anyone know why one of the four circular vents under the Sager is still unvented? I would have thought they would have had all venting considering there are four fans. Just like Eurocom have done.

    I'd start worrying after 90C.

What do you mean? You should have 4 fans and they all should vent. Do you have one of the vents closed? I'd open the system and check if something is blocking the vent. That could explain the high temps on one of the GPU's.

I agree with Aikimox, particularly since neither 3dMarkVantage nor 3dMark06 is particularly stressful for video cards and given the prior experience with the 480m's running relatively cool.
