Monitor your usage from the wall, good way of tracking when overclocking the impact your tweaks are having. Bear in mind the figures include losses in the PSU.

Yes, but if it is the Eurocom I read it has very loud fans. A single cable option would be ideal.

This is not Eurocom, this is a power supply from another manufacturer and of much better quality, quiet and is cheaper. Power supplies from Eurocom do not correspond to the declared characteristics and are very noisy, of poor quality.

I'm a bit confused and have a noob question.

If the desktop 3080 comes with 10gb of Vram, does that mean the mobile 3080's 16gb gives more vram? or is the 16gb mobile vram the same as a 10gb desktop 3080.

Also, with news of mobile 3080 Ti's coming early next year, will clevo create another model entirely? or add an option to the newest model (

    Question for the group.

Is anyone having issues with ray tracing in games? All games crash when I turn ray tracing on. I have downgraded to the nvidia driver available at the Sager website but this did not help. It is not a huge deal but it has me concerned there is a hardware issue with the GPU.

    Thank you

The 3080 mobile uses the same chip as the desktop 3070, it's on a 256bit bus so you can see capacities of 8GB or 16GB. It has 8 or 16 memory chips depending on capacity. The 3080 desktop has a 320bit memory bus (an extra chip or two depending on capacity). So the 10GB 3080 has an extra memory chip over the 8GB 3070. The mobile 3080 16GB has double the number of chips of the 3070 desktop but each has half the bandwidth. Same total bandwidth, more memory.

16GB is always more than 10GB, the 10GB in this case just has more bandwidth so you can read/write to it faster.

I just thought of something that made me revisit your question.

It is possible to have the CPU and GPU to run at full throttle at the same time by disabling Nvidia Dynamic Boost and using a hardware mod.

Disabling dynamic boost will allow the CPU to pull all the power it wants regardless of the GPU power draw. If you want to have the GPU also run at full throttle when the CPU is running at full throttle, you will have to perform a shunt mod on your GPU. This will allow the card to draw much more power. @DaMafiaGamer was able to get his 3080 mobile to draw up to 250 watts using this mod.

What brand is that power supply? I was looking at the Eurocom one but read all the bad reviews about dirty power and not being very good. I would like to take a look at this one.

The mod is called a shunt mod. It involves putting solder on one of the resistors on the card. Here is an example of doing it on the 3080 mobile by brother DaMafiaGamer:

    Wow!

But to disable the Nvidia Dynamic Boost i need to disable the Nvidia platform controllers and framework, right?

If i do it, the CPU pull all the power it wants regardless of the GPU power draw, but the GPU pull the power up to 150watts, loosing the 15watts of dynamic boost.

Is it no possible, also in this case, to pull the power of the GPU to 165watts without hardware modification?

NB. I runned the benchmark Time Spy and i got 13878 point, 14161 for GPU and 12471 for CPU.. Is it a good result for this laptop?

Yes, you need to disable the Nvidia platform controllers and framework software device to disable Dynamic Boost. To force the GPU to pull more than 150 watts in this scenario, you have to perform the shunt mod.

Regarding your score, someone else will have to answer that. The only synthetic benchmark I run is cinebench. Most of the time, I just run my games and other software to determine the real world performance uplift on more powerful hardware over my current hardware.

This will certainly jinx it but no crashes this week. Bios & Ec stock out of the box from Hid. Nothing done but swapping slots for Ssd's a few days after getting it. Maybe NVidia & Msft updates are stabilizing the platform? Not ready to tempt fate by going back to Ultimate Performance...

I'll second the ping to @Spartan@HIDevolution
    Any news from Prema?

Prema No.01, na not possible he has always been the 00 Agent. Lol

If I had the money to get a nice decent CPU golden sample and decent GPU with an AC unit such as @Mr.fox I'd give it a damn good shot to try an best him. You know what I amnlikr for benchmarking lol.

Very interesting! Schenker/XMG lower the RAM frequency of the backcover ram-slots with the new 1.07.05RTR1-G2 bios.

I had a lot of trouble with the new patriot 3200mhz ram in my X170KM-G, installed under the backcover. Under the keyboard, the frequency was 2667mhz and the notebook run stable. Now i installed the new bios and swap the ram from keyboard to the backcover slots. It runs with 2667mhz and not as before with 3200mhz.

Re-enable the XMP profile should see it back to 3200 on two slots or 2933 on 4 slots

Just testing the non G2 bios version and the performance is way better then the stock bios I had plus the options are better too.

I am getting over 800+ points on benchmarks with xmg bios.

You are right. Reset bios to default and frequency is 3200mhz.

No i have to look, if this is stable with the patriot ram 3200mhz

Well good luck doing stress tests on G2 and all is looking good latency on DPC is lower too so is hardpage faults.

Then when I have time tomorrow going to run 4 sticks and retest again. Then report my findings back to PCS.

Right tested 4 sticks of ram currently using 4 sticks of the memory i had issues with, with no issue, no shutdown no crash no nothing. Performance on both CCC and Power Plan was able to run AIDA64 for 5 minutes 30 seconds which is 5 minutes 29 seconds more then before.

A nice special edition by Intel would have been good. A lot cheaper to get a good sample that way.

I run Prime95 for ~10min without issue. Before, only Windows was not stable for 5min. I had errors in Google Chrome and so on. Now: nothing.

G2 Bios looks like a really good update. Boot sequence is also again, a little bit faster.

Thanks for the link, however sticking with the current XMG bios for now, its working thats all that matters.

@Meaker@Sager If intel did a Special CPU SKU for golden samples they would make a killing, I only went for the i5 11400 due to budget constraints, however the i7 and i9 11th gens also didn't look that great compared to their 10th gen counter parts and i needed the 4th M.2 slot for storage.

Once my Wallet is happy again i will be deciding between the i7 or i9 then hunting for a golden sample, followed by some new ram (which i can take time now on because the ram issue is fixed), some decent fans and psu's, I might even look at a 2K screen at some stage too if i can find a nice one thats G-Sync compatible as not to loose G-Sync but not sure if there is even a 1440p 144hz screen out yet.

With the latest XMG bios is it possible to activate the XMP profile for the ram?

I have the previous XMG BIOS, and I should decide whether to update to the latest XMG BIOS or the latest Clevo BIOS...
(is it possible to upgrade from XMG BIOS to Clevo Bios without problem?)

For systems with ram issues the XMG G2 bios seems to be working well no stability issues. However unless your having stability issues there really is not point in flashing the bios.

Along the lines for being slow on following this thread, I see that the new BIOS should let me add my additional 2 sticks of memory (G.Skills 2x32 3200Mhz) under the keyboard. Am I reading this right? Second, how to I change the XMP profile. I don't see this anywhere in the BIOS.

Right so I am starting to make my upgrade list.

What you think would be best for 1080p gaming and streaming?

    i5 11600KF or the i7 11700KF?

    Ram I am going for 32GB 2x16 2933mhz

I do plan to go with a 1440p screen at some stage too as I would think a RTX 3070 should be able to handle it so long as I can find a suitable 144hz screen.
