I just have the picture of that section from HID support, I don't have the full thing.

Yeah, annoyingly enough I couldn't get windows to boot once I moved it and had to reinstall windows as well.

Pulling out any other drives stabilized the system, but I was hoping to use those as storage drives. Right now I'm running with just my C: in the PCIe 4 slot and nothing else to stop the crashes. Contemplating just moving it back over to a PCIe 3 slot so I can use all my drives.

I expected to only get one drive at full speed, but what I wasn't expecting was that I wouldn't be able to use the other slots at all if I chose to use a PCIe 4.0 drive.

NVMe PCIe 4.0 drives should be backwards compatible with the 3.0 protocol.

Sorry if I'm not being clear. The PCIe 4.0 drive works in either the 3.0 or the 4.0 slot as expected.

The issue I'm having is that when I have two or more drives installed, one in the PCIe 4.0 slot and a second in a PCIe 3.0 slot at the same time, the system becomes unstable.

Maybe do a clean OS install. As well reset bios to default.

    Btw. What brand ssd’s?

This is on a fresh install, BIOS hasn't been touched.

Drives are a Samsung 980 Pro (1 TB) and AData Swordfish 2TB 3Ds (picked by HiD from their "approved" nvme opption). I might pull one of my Samsung 970 EVOs out of my desktop and see if it's something wonky with the AData drive.

@Meaker@Sager is it true that the 4th ssd slot is disabled on the 10th generation cpus?

This is correct. The 4th slot will only work if you install an 11th gen CPU into the system.

I can confirm as well, you can use a 980 Pro only with an 11th gen CPU in this system.

Not so much being disabled, it's more the 10th gen simply lacks the PCI-E lanes the slot requires so there is no way for it to function.

The 980 Pro would work fine in any of the Gen3 slots with a 10th Gen CPU. Those slots are connected to the Z590 PCH and always available. Even on the X170SM that forth slot only supported M.2 SATA drives so using a KM with a 10th Gen CPU is not much difference storage capability wise.

The overall bandwidth is lower on the 10th gen to the chipset as well but not so much to impact most users.

I just did a session in windows playing no mans sky and and spelunky 2 in windows and the fans are much more active in windows than in linux. The linux gaming doesn't get hot it seems but in windows the fans just want to bounce all around making noise(even though its not getting hot either). I guess I need to work on the fan profiles in windows b/c they have an actual program that controls them? I dont play no mans sky in linux but I do play spelunky 2 in linux and during spelunky 2 in linux the fans are at the lowest noise level (no noise) and in windows they do get high and low. I am new to the DTR world so I have some to learn.

I meant as a gen4x4 SSD, my fault.

What kind of temperature did you get while playing on Assassin's Creed? It's very similar to my benchmark results.

I'm real happy with performance, loading a database varies between twice as fast & 20% faster. Fan noise with 11900k is comparable to what it is on p870/9900k.

I'm real annoyed at the lack of a touchpad driver. Does no-one use the touchpad? Anybody know if there's a third party driver anywhere?

Download the Intel HID Filter Driver from this page then install it: https://www.sagernotebook.com/drivers.php?cat=776

Make sure to right-click on the file you just downloaded, go to Properties, then hit Unblock from the bottom right as it may be blocked since it was downloaded from the internet, if you don't do this before you run the file or extract it, then it may not install correctly due to insufficient privileges.

To prevent this automatic blocking of files in the future so you don't have to go unblocking every file you download to ensure it runs properly, check the guide in this thread:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/are-you-sure-you-want-to-run-this-file-yes-or-no.825668/

Well I don't play BFV, but while playing Cyberpunk 2077, I reach an even higher peak (around 98), but for the most part the CPU temperature stays well under 80. So it's very strange to get an average 90.

For me the peak is with 5290 clock.

Just received my x170KM-G from HIDevolution the other day; if anyone's on the fence about buying I can 100% recommend the laptop.

    Configuration I opted for: 11900k, Rtx 3080, 64GB ram, Samsung 980 Evo SSD, 300hz 1920x1080 LED panel.

Feel free to ask any questions

Could you please do a Port Royal test too so we could say Ray Tracing performance ?

How is the 11400 doing in games ? Is it bottlenecked ? What was the max CPU and GPU temp after the benchmark ended ?

As for the i5 11400 in games, its been smashing not seeing it being a bottleneck in games such as Call Of Duty Warzone where i am getting a 130fps avg with it hitting 144fps on maxed out settings set by GFE which includes DLSS on Balanced.

The processor was retail, purchased from Micro Center.

Sadly after looking closer at my config it seems the bios set the CPU multipliers to 43x-40x when overclocking was enabled. So after resetting it back to 53x-48x I found my -100mv undervolt was no longer stable. Not even -50mv was stable. So now I am running without an undervolt and trying to tweak a custom fan profile to keep noise under control.

It is a shame I cannot pay Silicon Lottery to have them delid the 11900k.

Ouch, that would be a major jump in consumption and heat output. I run my 9900ks in my P870TM1 purposely at 4.5ghz so it runs whisper quiet so that would be the target range I would shoot for with an 11900k. CB23 pulls ~108w and the fans stay low. I purposely hunted down and tested several 9900k's before I settled on the 9900ks that pulled and ran insanely cool.

Looking at the range of pull, watts and heat output on various forums across many 11900k chips, it is quite large. You are looking at some 5ghz samples pulling ~1.2v or less and ~200w or less up to 1.375+ and 275w+.

Getting a good binned sample would make all the difference in the world.

Hmmm. I see ~1.12v under load multicore at 4.8ghz (until thermal throttling starts) and ~1.48v under load singlecore at 5.3ghz.

The single core performance is much better at those high clock speeds. It is amazing just how much faster Visual Studio runs compared to 10700k or 9880H. For now I have the fans set to 40% at 60C and 60% at 90C which keeps it quieter with my work apps running.
