Mine has arrived! Spent a little while this evening installing windows 7 ultimate, office 2010, and updating drivers. The display is the best I've ever own or seen. Got the 95% gamut and it really is pretty. The Big Lebowski looks really nice on Bluray. Still adjusting stuff and getting settings just right. The speakers are pretty lousy and I am having trouble with typing/trackpad interaction. BUT man, do I like everything else so far! I'm sure there will be a bit of an adjustment period. Off to try the SSD utility mentioned in this thread to maximize what I get out of my 256 gb SSD. Thanks to the community for helping me out in my decision-making process.

Anybody have tips for further calibration? Perhaps a way to calibrate the colors on my monitor? Couldn't get Sager to do that as I have my own windows.

Looks like the fingerprint reader has been pulled from mySN's configuration in the meantime.
Check jaug1337's pics from a couple of posts higher up - they are linked directly into the mySN.de website and as of today do not show a fingerprint reader.

@all: Can anyone comment on if the W350ETQ has actually been made available with a fingerprint reader? Any resellers in Europe - preferably Germany - that offer such a variant of W350ETQ?

    TIA,
    RealityDysfunction

It has a fingerprint reader. At least the one I ordered from RJTech did. Check out the first picture in this thread.

Well, it used to have a fingerprint reader. I remember seeing it in the pictures at the beginning of this thread back in August.
However, if you look closely at those very same pictures now you'll find the fingerprint reader has disappeared. This seems to be due to the pictures being linked against the mysn.de product page for the W350ETQ/A522 - and those product pictures were changed in the meantime.

There are probably two different versions of the W350ETQ frame - one with FPR and one without.

Good to know that RJTech gives you the additional $5's worth of including the FPR.

Hmmm.... I ordered mine last Thursday night from lpc-digital in Nevada, received it Friday and it has the fingerprint reader. Do they have any use? Not sure that I will ever have a practical application for it. I'm sure there are multiple track pads that these can be dropped into these base units at some point in the manufacturing process.

Reflexnotebook.ca's picture and description of the NP6350 has a fingerprint reader - a big plus in my books. I have had one on my ThinkPad for years and love it.

Any idea if both of the HDD bays are SATA3 or is one SATA3 and one SATA2?

They are SATA-III, both of them.

The ODD (disk drive) can be opted for a optical bay caddy but that'll be SATA-II :)

Yesterday i received my w350etq by mysn:
    this is my config:
    . 39,6 cm (15.6") Full-HD (1920*1080) Non-Glare
    . NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M 2048MB GDDR5
    . Intel Core i7-3612QM - 2,10 - 3,10GHz 6MB 35W "Ivy Bridge"
    . 8GB (2x4096) SO-DIMM DDR3 RAM 1600MHz CORSAIR Vengeance
    . 256GB SATA-III SSD Crucial RealSSD M4 (CT256M4SSD2)
    2nd HDD 750GB momentus XT
. Blu-ray Brenner (Blu-Ray Lesen- Schreiben / DVD Multinorm) -ohne Softw.
    . Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 (inkl. Bluetooth)

    I have a question:
I want to install win7 prof. from usb stick to my MYSN XMG A522 / clevo w350etq.
But i could not change bios to boot from usb. It does not show USB. only CD SSD and HDD

Is this normal and a Bios Problem?
Or does this work for you? (Bios Version?)

    Thx

Can anyone confirm if the HDMI-Out Port 1.4a will support resolutions beyond 1920x1080? I want to make sure I am not painting myself into a corner with this laptop over the NP9150 which has both DVI and Display Ports.

This link states that the newer HDMI 1.4a spec is greater than 1920x1080:

Yes, BUT only with an HDMI 1.4 monitor. Pretty much any monitor out right now does NOT support HDMI 1.4 and thus will only support up to 1080p via HDMI.

    Ah yes correct.

You might want to buy a extra ordinary monitor that supports HDMI 1.4, check eBay and Amazon, they've got some particular models

Thanks for this. My present monitor only supports 1080P so it is a moot point and I am sure my next one would have a HDMI 1.4a port.

Any thoughts on connecting a higher than 1080P monitor via its DVI port via a HDMI/DVI adapter to the NP6350's HDMI port - would that yield higher than 1920x1080 resolution?

Most likley not. You would need some sort of an active HDMI v1.4 -> Dual Link DVI converter. I am not even sure if such a converter exists. Most normal converters are passive HDMI -> Single Link DVI, and that won't support >1080p.

Do you think it is short sighted to buy a notebook that only has a HDMI 1.4a connection? I was originally considering the NP9150 which has DisplayPort, Dual Link DVI and HDMI 1.4a but the NP6350 seemed adequate.

As suggested I checked out eBay and HDMI 1.4a is creeping into monitors but who knows, the industry may ditch it in favour of DisplayPort.

In theory it should, but only 2 are avaliable as far as I recall... not sure about this one, but somewhat the same "problem" as on the NP9150/P150EM

Sorry - I should have been more clear. I know the HDMI 1.4a spec will support 4k x 2k displays and the card will too - can anyone confirm if this is supported on the NP6350?

I have not heard of "9" being used to make the fans run at max, its typically "1" if that isnt working for you you may need to update your BIOS.

    Hey guys,

Just wanted to let everyone know I received my NP6350 about a week ago, and I am loving it so far. I'm not much of an enthusiast, but this laptop suits my needs and is a HUGE upgrade from my last laptop. I can try to answer questions, but I may not give great answers because of my lack of knowledge involving computers.

    Thanks

    Hi,
can someone who uses throttlestop 5.00 post which settings to make so that the cpu will boost up and overclock even with using nvidia gpu grafik boost?
Or is there a new bios yet?
I have no idea what to set in throttlestop.
    Thanks.

I am thinking of buying the Sager NP6350. I was wondering if the laptop had some sort of battery care function that allows you to limit the maximum battery charge to 80% or 50% of the full charge. Alot of the newer laptops of have this to prevent the battery from overcharging if left plugged in (as a gaming laptop obviously will).

So basically...it doesn't. I'm not a fan of unplugging batteries all the time TBH. Sony, Lenovo, Samsung, and I think a few Clevo models offer this function. Very sad it isn't standard. I think I'll pass on this notebook.

Yes, it will BUT you need a monitor that also supports HDMI v1.4a, and those are essentially non-existent right now.

Leaving the battery at 100% will not cause any damage, perhaps a tiny bit of additional wear, but I wouldn't and don't consider it an issue.. The battery will also not be over charged. Any Li-Ion battery REQUIRES a "smart" battery charger that will prevent overcharging/etc.

    Hi all,

I'm new Clevo W350ETQ owner and I have one quick question to the community: is the trim command in raid 0 (with SSDs) supported by the laptop's bios by default or do I need to upgrade it first? If so, where do I find the bios updated for this laptop?

I know that that trim in raid 0 is fresh feature and require both intel rapid storage application and bios update with propert bios rom. My clevo, however is one of the newest, it already have windows 8 logo on the keyboard (which differs from windows 7 logo :D) and inside it I found a sticker saying it was manufactured in mid august 2012, so I assume the bios could possibly be fresh enough to support the trim, however there is no tool to update bios on clevo cd so I'm asking here for help how to check it?

BTW I have 3 drives already - one HDD sitting in cd bay and two SSD's in drive bays. Now the OS is installed on HDD and the SSDs aren't even formatted. I'm waiting for the confirmation that trim is supported and will install the OS once again on the raid drive with HDD being a backup/data drive.

Oh ah yes. There should be no problem, Intel's BETA drivers support RAID with TRIM support. Just download the latest firmware for your SSD's and make sure you research everything so you know a lot more about it ;)

    Hello all,

I am new here and I am sorry if this is posted in the wrong place, or has been posted before. I scan-read the earlier pages and couldn't find the answer to my question.

I am very interested in buying a Sager NP6350, but my knowledge is poor! This is my first true gaming laptop, and my concern is it overheating and burning out components as it is an issue I have heard about in gaming laptops in general. Have any of you guys recorded temperatures of the 6350 while it is under load? What does it reach and would you consider it safe for durability. It is a lot of money, and want the laptop to last a few years! Also, do you think the 660m is a decent graphics card, I hope to play GTAV when it is released!?

    Thanks,

    The Bloke

After 10 minutes of load, temperature was about 74 degree and wasn't raising anymore. I think it is high, but not alarming high. You can always slow down your CPU to prevent such heat. Also, 74 celsius was on the cpu not on the laptop. The laptop itself remains cold all the time...

You'll be okay. The SSD's are especially cool.

While playing Guildwars 2, which the laptop runs perfectly I might say at 1080p, the highest cpu temperature HWMonitor registered was 83c, but it's usually around 75c. As for the GPU, the highest temperature is 69c. The cpu was clocked at 2.8Ghz using Throttlestop, and the GPU ran overclocked with +135Mhz Core / + 200Mhz Mem using MSI's Afterburner.
Running the CPU any faster won't really matter when playing at 1080P since the GTX660M is the real bottleneck. GPU usage at 98-99% all the time during Guildwars2.

Only had it for two weeks now, but I'm loving it so far. Just ordered a Seagate Momentus XT 750GB with 8GB flash memory to complement the SSD.

I just got my 350ETQ the other day and I have a question about the volume control. I usually mute my sound and I noticed that the laptop will un-mute the sound upon reboot. Is there a way to keep it muted across reboots?

I am also interested to hear a response to the previous post by kaixjer regarding the smaller power supplies. The brick is HUGE and apparently the 150EM's have even larger ones for their crazy GPU's.

Why mute the sound? Just lower it down to nothing.

Either that or just disable the sound driver ;)

Thanks for the suggestions. Turning it down may be the way to go as I don't want to disable it as I do use it at times - just not all that often.
