You can check the manufacturers site and use their latest drivers if you have any of the upgrade options like Killer or Intel. If you have the stock wireless card the best one is the one directly from Sager.

327.23 installed okay, can't game now, will update later whether any frame rate increase has been achieved.

I just don't want to receive a new system and get the same issue if this is the way it is designed. Therefore any of your input is appreciated. Just pay attention after fan spin up and down and you can see. In my knowledge, this sort of problem only happened with old motherboard, I hope they not using cheap quality motherboard for these systems to be honest -

The sound could be electronic buzz from the power electronics. Does it change as you change the loading of the CPU/GPU?
-
I don't think it get louder when more work is done on CPU/GPU. Usually in idle when fan spin lightly I can hear it once for each few seconds, it sounds like a frog, like a discharging sound, robotic/electric. When fan stop after idle, it stop. When fan at full load, the fan sound usually dominate this sound but if i put my ear next to the left palm rest near the vent exhaust I can hear it, and after the fan slow down from that full blast I can hear it more and more clearly. Now I know it exist, i hear it all the time. The thing is, my last laptop is thinkpad that I use for 6 years, old technology there, but I never experienced anything like this, it make me worried that something is not electronically right about the motherboard
As I mentioned way up there, I opened the service cover to check if the fan is loose or might hitting something, it didn't -

Might be a slight bearing issue from the fan.

I occasionally get the speaker popping sound when starting/shutting down. No issues with fan (none that I can notice anyways).
-
I dont think it is fan issue, at least in term of fan hitting or stuck because i try to spin it to check and it normal, also when it is spin at full blast, it sound smooth. Since fan, CPU, GPU are right next to one another, it's hard to narrow down which one is causing the noise
@Rockin_Zombie: I first thought it is the speaker too, but this is another noise beside the speaker thing. I'm thinking a non-proper ground motherboard can cause the noise like this. I'm asking the company I bought the laptop from test other systems they have, they told me they will report to Clevo if they can reproduce this -
That's pretty simple, when it does that sound, manually stop the fan. If the sound stops, then it's the fan.
Mine does a small sound when it's on an inclined plane, nothing really noticeable though.
Yet, will probably try to open it up sometime. -
I can tell you that after the fan stop, that sound stop too, but it can't be that simple, the fan work if It got electricity, what if the problem is electric wire go into the fan or from the source that goes into the fan, or might be it is the way system is designed. I don't want to be picky but if it is capacitor/motherboard thing then I ought to get replacement immediately, that's why I need help. Please spend your time to monitor this. This is not a one minute test, any input to this would be so appreciated

I've been looking into picking up a new w230st to replace my aging sony vaio z, the one thing keeping me back from buying it is the battery life. Has anyone been able to get any improvement in battery life with undervolting the cpu or custom bios?
-
You will get between 2.5-4 hours of battery life on this thing under light usage if you do the undervolting thing
-
If the sound stop when you stop the fan, it is NOT the motherboard, and it is the fan.
If you stop the fan manually, nothing changes in regard to electricity.
Don't waste your time and either fix that fan or ask for a replacement -
Haha double posted sorry didnt realize how fast this forum moves.

Holy crap, even Prime95 can't push my temp above 80C, then again I'm on 4702mq. I'd do a repaste.
-
I had the laptop on a 35 degree angel cooling pad and when I removed that and just put it on the table, undervolted -50mV I am now at around 82c when stressing it. Weird, but seems a lot better than 100c.. -
-
So i just got one of these notebooks and got a screen with a bunch of dead pixels on it.
Has anyone tried taking apart their notebook and how difficult would it be to replace the LCD? Going to call reflex notebook tomorrow morning and try and get it sorted out, but i don't really want to ship the notebook back and wait several weeks for them to do something. -

Just got my chaos 13 and while i've only downloaded vlc to play startrek into the darkness, I'm very happy with this little beast.
One question for anybody/everybody. What is the best/smallest/coolest (temp wise) car charger adapter for this system.?
This okay ==>. http://www.amazon.com/Laptop-Charger-Adapter-Toshiba-Satellite/dp/tech-data/B004XW9LCE/ref=de_a_smtd
Would this be better option.

Prema released update ME firmware here :
Prema's Mod BIOS / Latest stock BIOS -
Also, as a general note, I have modded the bottom cover to open it up, and it made little to no difference in temperature. Putting a fan with a fairly strong airflow helped a little bit, but the cooling seems pretty well contained within the enclosed system it has. I don't think there's much we can do to improve temperatures physically other than an actual cooler underneath it, like refrigerated air blowing on it. -
Can someone with a techinferno account please grab the service manual from their forums. They have a 5 post minimum to download the manual and have mod approved posts. I need to know how difficult it is to replace the LCD befor contacting reflex notebook, hopefully they can just ship me a replacement panel, so I can service it myself.

I've been looking all over, how do you get to that control center? I'm not seeing it anywhere.
-
-
But I just checked again and it's back. I don't know what happened, will monitor it from time to time hehe -
anybody purchased a car charger for this laptop? Look back a few post. I'm looking for a slim if possible car charger, not power inverter.
Thanks in advance. -
But the replacement should be pretty easy in my opinion, just remove the frame, unscrew, unplug, replug, screw back, put the frame back, done. -

This is after 5 minutes of Prime95. The multipliers change between 26x and 25x.

Hi,
I know Optimus and 3DTV Play is always tricky. Has anyone tried it and got it to work? -
I've done some benchmarking and I've put all the data into an excel sheet. I can't seem to paste it directly in here without it being all jumbled up. What is the easiest / best way for me to put my excel data into a forum post?
-
a screenshot maybe
-
As said its only visible on a complete black image AND not even nearly as heavy as my smartphonecam shot it, especially not from a normal viewing distance like 30-40cm.

I'd also be really greatful if someone could mirror or PM me the manual. -
Ok I think I figured this out. After updating to the latest nVidia driver, Speedfan will show that the GPU is at 0 degrees when it is not in active use. As soon as I start up a game like Borderlands, the GPU temp starts reading properly. I am assuming this is some weirdness with the Optimus technology and the new driver software.
Games seem to be running fine although I was getting a bit of stuttering in Borderlands 2 that I feel wasn't there with the old Clevo default driver. Could be placebo though. -
Hmon made me the same thing sometimes (not related to actual use), gpu temp = 0°, while realtemp was reading it just fine.

I have a slight issue with hdmi : no audio device through hdmi unless I start the OS with the cable plugged in.
As soon as I unplug the cable, I lose the audio device until I restart. I'll try to update a few drivers when possible, in the meantime I'd appreciate any idea =)frewster likes this. -

I have an Optimus stumper for ya. I'm playing Bookworm Adventures, bought on Steam. In the GPU status tray icon, it says the dGPU is active because of "popcapgame1.exe", which (according to Process Explorer) is running out of "C:\ProgramData\Popcap Games\WinBAD\". When I manually add this to the Optimus control panel, it tells me "the file is in use" in the Open dialog -- of course it's in use, that's the point! But here's the worst part -- if I close the game, the file *disappears*. ? I'm assuming the actual game is unpacked here during the DRM process, or something. Has anybody run into this before? Some kind of permissions issue? Is there some registry entry I can make manually to work around this?

What is the best way to keep fingerprints off this thing?
How about cleaning the lid? A simple damp cloth doesn't seem to get rid of fingerprints on the lid (for those of you that don't have it, the plastic lid is made of a cool looking matte space-age material that is very sleek when clean but will pick up a fingerprint better than any other material I've ever seen). -
oh dear... i´m posting too much images ^^ -

You are right, this is definitely not worth sending back for. The next machine might have a few dead pixels, which IMO is FAR worse, hate looking at those white dead pixels . OR it might have the fan rattling issue, who knows. I am happy with mine, and lucky that the pixel fixer worked, hope it'll work for you too!
HTWingnut, anyway you can link me to that modified VBIOS you used for OC and OV? Can't find anything on TI yet, I have been pushing +135 MHZ comfortably with no temperature woes, wanna get a little adventurous . I
