Anyone have a tutorial on using an icm profile as Windows default? The Spyder Express Utility seems to activate the dedicated GPU. I know there's a way to have the .icm profile used as Windows default but I can't seem to get it to work.

It's such a confusing way, at least on windows 7.
Can't remember by heart right now but I'll have a look tomorrow if still needed.

I got it figured out, I think. It didn't seem like it was working before but now it is. And duh, Spyder wasn't activating my dedicated. Steam did an update and set it to auto start with Windows and for some reason was set to use the nVidia GPU not Intel.

Here's what I did, not guaranteeing it's right.

First here's my icc (icm) profile (usually stored in C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color):
    Spyder3Express.zip (2 KB)
    https://mega.co.nz/#!uZZDBQrJ!XzutiDRkbYYI131nUxsKHRUE7dlh2JcOS-ybNTq6Ri8

    (1) Type "Color Management" in Start Menu/Screen
    (2) Click "Add" button at bottom left
    (3) Browse and add the Spyder3Express.icm profile
    (4) Select it from the list in "Associate Color Profile" Window list and click OK
    (5) Click on the Spyder3Express.icm profile in the "Color Management" Window and click "Set as Default Profile"

You should see your screen colors change, and voila that's it.

If something seems awry feel free to correct it.

Other things I was reading was saying going into advanced, change default settings (twice, weird), but that just seemed to screw things up.

So I just got my w230st and I noticed it runs 55~67c idle, and up to 99c on full load...
Even after undervolting the cpu -110v I get around 95c on full load. Any ideas?

Which USB ports are powered? Specs say 1 x USB 3.0 powered. Does that mean I can't connect 2 USB 3.0 2.5" drives at the same time unless I get a hub? That can't be right. Do non powered USB ports provide enough power to run a 2.5" drive?

Even the Blade 14 with bigger battery and no HDD barely manages 6h. And the W230ST has to "feed" a 1080p screen too. I do not think much more than 4-4.5h is possible anyway. Is that 0.5h really that important?

Just got my replacement laptop today, looks like a stuck pixel (it shows up as black on a red screen, greenish when on other screens other than black), any way to fix this? I called up sager for a replacement screen already (bought the zero dead pixel guarantee) but I haven't sent in pictures because its almost impossible to get a picture of. not sure if I should just keep this one or not. Thinking of replacing it though since i bought the warranty to do so.

Getting most of the drivers working. Now just importing old files and installing games. :)

Question: Is it normal that I need to plug in my USB's a few times in order to get them recognized by the PC? This is a bit odd how it is not working on the first attempt (some flash drives not working at all).

Hey all, just wanted to letcha know that I had my username changed yesterday from "dookie11" to "ECKS" :) Anywho...

I received my X-Slim cooling pad today! This thing is awesome! Even though I don't have my NP7330 yet, I put this thing under my netbook, and before even powering it on, the air blowing out of the netbook's vent changed from hot/warm to lukewarm/cool. Then when I actually plugged it in, I couldn't even feel anything but a cool and soft breeze coming out of the netbook. Seems like it cooled it down so well that the netbook's fan slowed down. Normally, it's on full blast, and blowing out only hot air when the netbook is on the table. Thanks for the recommendation bro!

I'm looking for sleeves/cases too. I'll probably just stick to my Brenthaven backpack, but might go with either of these sleeves from the same company: Amazon.com: Brenthaven 2176 ProStyle Sleeve I for 13-Inch MacBook Air/MacBook Pro / Ultrabook - Plum: Electronics (get the black one, as it's sold by Amazon), or Amazon.com : Brenthaven 5100101 Ecco-Prene I Sleeve for 13-inch Tablet / Macbook / Ultrabook- Black : Computer Notebook Sleeves : Electronics. Oh yeah, my friend has this one for her 13.3" Sony VAIO laptop, and it's pretty nice: http://www.amazon.com/Caselogic-PAS...F8&qid=1375171470&sr=1-9&keywords=13.3+sleeve.

Hmm, that's weird, indeed. Hope there's nothing wrong with the port or the motherboard itself :(

Is it silent? Also, I've seen there are different fan sizes, which one did you get?
Can't find much info on other cooling pads, why did you choose it? It seems to be for 15'' right? I will surely need one for this notebook.

It's not silent because it's a 160mm fan spinning supposedly up to 1500 RPM. But the noise isn't so loud that it's gonna drown out your music or gaming sounds. Might be a concern in the library though, but I doubt you'll be gaming in the library... So I would say the volume of the cooler is pretty average as far as coolers go.

I bought this one: Amazon.com: Cooler Master NotePal X-Slim Ultra-Slim Laptop Cooling Pad with 160mm Fan (R9-NBC-XSLI-GP): Computers & Accessories (pick X-Slim, and Retail). Chose this one because another user on here bought it and the size was a perfect fit for his W230ST. Go back a few pages and you can see his pictures. I think it was uwwmatt's wife who posted the pics. Or could've been mattstermh's wife. Forgot which matt ;) The cooler measures 15" across and is 10.5" deep which is perfect for our 13.3" bad boys. GET IT DOOD

I just got my laptop today (I ordered on July 13th from Xotic PC with the free shipping). It is lighter than I expected. I didnt get the Chicony charger and my charger is bigger (I think... I dont know the dimensions of the Chicony). No dead pixels. I ordered the $25 dollar optical drive with my laptop from Xotic PC and it came with the 6x blu-ray player! Fan runs loud and by default, the text is very small on the laptop when using a dual monitor setup. I dont know if I have the Chi-Mei or not but the screen is gorgeous

I gave up on Windows 7 because I had a number of driver issues as well. Windows 8 seems flawless so far (just using startisback Start Menu ftw). SB Cinema kept crashing, and Intel 7260 Wi-Fi wouldn't work.

I recall that you said Intel MEI was crashing as well, but I was able to install with no issues.

I'm using Win 7 right now, but I don't have any driver issues.
I don't think SB Cinema is the actual sound driver, but some audio tuning software right?
I can't comment on the Intel 7260 since I opted for bigfoot wireless.

How long did your replacement take? And is the new issue on your replacement similar to the previous one?

wingnut, you probably didn't see it in the 8250 owner's lounge thread, but I had the same thing happen to me. In my case I blindly let windows install all 40 or so optional updates which left me with borked networking, so I rolled back to a good restore point which got networking back again, BUT Steam client was ALWAYS then running w/nv GPU on and NOT the IGP.

It took me some time to find that Steam was the culprit, and I tried enabling/disabling several of their graphics setting in steam "settings" to no avail...

Anyways that was as far as I got as shortly afterwards my crucial ssd showed and I did a clean install with that as boot driver, after which steam was working "normally" again. I've been through a couple of steam updates since then, but I'm not sure that I'm up to whatever version you have now as I haven't gamed on the 8250 in several days(partially sprained back making it uncomfortable, and partially just doing other things anyways).

I know that this doesn't help much, but...

(8250 is win7 pro x64, and was running from the default seagate(blech) 7500k hdd, plus their default 1600 Patriot RAM(16GB), 4800MQ, everything else pretty much standard... excepting that I had upgraded to the 320.49 nv drivers...)

    [EDIT]
    @servall
Had PCH hit 90C on my 8250-S, from what I gather I'd expect it to be able to at least go 100C, but yes, it is disconcerting to see it heat rapidly and to such high temps...

USB's always been finicky. My P9X79 desktop does the same thing with USB2/3 ports, unfortunately for me it's my new mech kb(cherry mx blue - coolermaster)

Are the USB 3.0 drivers on the Clevo site? I don't think I saw them.

Also, after installing all windows updates, my computer has been at the blue "shutting down" screen for 10 minutes. Is it going to shut down? The updates finished so I don't know what is taking so long.

I'm trying to connect my bluetooth headset and it doesn't seem to connect properly. I have encountered this type of error before and the solution is to install the proper bluetooth drivers.

Does anyone know if there are Bluetooth drivers of Intel AC 7260 for windows 7? I checked the installation disc and I can't find it there.

One thing I've noticed about the cooler is don't try to move your laptop and cooler at the same time by just grabbing them one handed in the middle. The metal of the cooling pad flexes a bit where you are grabbing it and will scrape the fan if its running. So either unplug the fan or carry them by the sides.

I ran into an issue while trying to use Google Hangouts. Apparently their was a lot of mic interference on my end, I was using one of those earbuds with built in mic. No dedicated mic out plug, so that may have been the issue. It may also possibly be a driver issue since I reformatted everything.

I also noticed again that if you use the left USB port you get a buzzing noise in the headphones. Can someone else test this and see if they get the same problem?

I am a sucker for RTS games even though I suck at them, so can anybody be kind enough to run StarCraft 2, Age of Empires 3, supreme commander, COH, command and conquer, any other RTS game and post temp of CPU and GPU after say 30 mins. Only thing holding me back from placing order is high temps. Right now using m11x r2 and is time to increase monitor size and retired the little monster.

    Thanks in advance.

I can run Starcraft 2 (although hate that game), AoE 3, CoH (1 or 2, I don't have 2 yet), when I get a chance and will report back.

I doubt the temps will be that bad.

I played COH2 last night, it got up to 92C, but I had the computer on my lap so airflow wasn't optimal. Although it said my laptop hit 92 as the Max, every time I jumped out to check the temps while I was gaming it was hovering in the high 60s, so it does't appear to be sustaining those high temps (or I may be reading the CPUID program wrong)

LoL @ ht. Why you hate sc2? Is it because is so damn hard and make you think and make 100 decisions a min. I have a hate/love relationship with it. Because of the reasons mention above. I Guess that's what I love about rts too. Damn you Blizzard, damn you. LoL.

Got mine from Xoticpc as well. So far so good. Screen bruising on the right side near the hinge but no dead pixels. All the required drivers installed except the intel IME would crash. Anyone else solve this?

Also the fan profile is horrendous. It doesn't seem to be based off temp but utilization and goes from light to 100% at abnormal times. I tried setting the max cpu to 5% like minimum but I think this thing is controlled at the bios level. It is very annoying.

I can't connect to BF3. I'm getting a punkbuster issue and I get kicked before I can even load the level.

I'm trying to choose between the x slim and the x3. X3 is twice the cost and bigger but scouring the reviews, has more than twice the airflow, 50 vs 20. Maybe it's overkill. But I've always had major heating issues with all my discrete gpu rigs. My current envy 17, the palm rest gets so hot it's unusable, my hand goes numb from the heat, so I have o use an external kb. And don't even get me started on my msi than spewed black smoke and died weeks after warranty expired.

I see a lot of folks recommend the Cooler Master U series, but the fans on those last like 2 months and then slow to a crawl and die. And I use an air duster constantly. The thermaltake massive I use on my envy is still going strong but the fan is sort of blocked off at either side. The X3 seems to have much better coverage.
