    Shortly after posting that, it went on that beep for about a minute.. Than shut off. :mad:

    It looks like event ID 37 has been occuring frequently.

    "The speed of processor 7 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 7403 seconds since the last report."

    It includes other processors as well.

    Event ID 219 & 41 have occurred since this issue began too.

    The main sources are Kernel-Processor-Power and Kernel-Power.

    All I can really think is that those errors aren't occurring due to software. It has to be due to hardware since it's happening in both Linux and Windows. Although I'm not too sure what to think/do at this point... I reset the BIOS to no avail.

    Anyone have any other suggestions before I *have* to RMA it? :/

    Sadly it does not seem that basic to me. I have never solderd anything =).
    I am more interested in these other cooling pads that you are talking about. If you could give me some example I would be very thankful.

    I believe the n2000 has multiple usb ports as an extension, and there are others that have audio jacks and such built into them as extensions, though the price ranges are pretty massive

    I'll see if I can find some of the ones I was looking at, busy making a birthday present for my sister at the moment.

    I'm not really sure what you are talking about now. I am not intrested of multiple usb ports or audio jacks =). I just want a good cooler that covers both vents. Or do you mean that I should connect an extra fan into a usb-port or a audio jack in some way?

    Anyway, you do what you need to do =). I am just happy that you are taking the time trying to help.

    No problem, always happy to help whenever I can.

    The U2 is a great cooler for being able to adjust to where the cooling ports are located, I thought you wanted something with more options as far as docking went. Also if you ever feel like modding or trying your hand at modding, it is one of the easiest ones I've seen to mod.

    No I'm cool with a good dock that just can blow air into both air vents on this computer =). It's hard to figure out what fits for that (obviously not the U2 although it has movable fans). Hope that you or anybody else in here mabye have got a dock like this or seen one.

    Ok, could you please explain why you think I should try it. Seems like a no name fan with one really big fan. It does not seem as good as two fans that blows directly into the vents. But mabye that is impossible to find for this computer? Have you heard anything about it or have you tried it yourself?
    Thank you for trying to help!

    Has anyone tried to add more holes for the fan intake at the bottom panel of the W150ERM? and if so would there be a guide or some pics and temp with the result? cause those 6 tiny holes at the intake dont seem to help much, i have the notepal u3 but without decent room for air intake it dont help much. Any info would be highly appreciated

    I'm sure you could drill them just about anywhere if you feel it. The only issues would be that perhaps it'll void the warranty, but most importantly you may end up doing more harm for cooling than you would anticipate. Sure, it would be nice to have a gaping hole for a 120mm fan, but the dust that would get sucked in would entirely counter the cooling effectiveness.

    But why ruin the aesthetics and potentially even the durability of the back plate? Just take the plate off, problem solved.

    Well, you most likely will not be able to find one that blows directly into the inlets on the laptop. Also one larger fan will move a lot more air than two smaller ones.

    hehe same here, yesterday i tried a short test with the bottom panel removed and ran prime95 for 10 minutes orso and the difference with the bottom panel on was huge,

    With bottom Panel: CPU 85-89, intel pch 65-67

    Without bottom panel: CPU 70-75 intel PCH 52

    So thats quite a huge difference. I will buy me some copper heatsinks perhaps but a mod that allows more air into the laptop will help lots

    The test was with my notepal U3 blowing at high speed

    If i wanted to make he fan intake hole bigger i wouldnt just leave that hole exposed to dust ofc i would make some sort of a dust filter for it. But the way it is now with those small holes is quite bad if ya ask me.

    hey guys, I'm looking into buying a new laptop and this is one of my options i'm looking at, I'm not sure if anyone actually expanded on this as i didnt read the entire thread through, only some 10 pages or so. Is it true that the only speakers are located on the bottomof the laptop? if so can anyone comment on the sound ability if you were to place the laptop on your bed (any soft surface works)?

    Thx

    You probably don't want to run your laptop on a soft surface blocking its vents and get it overheated. But if you do, I just tried it and you can still hear the sound quite a bit, although it is a bit muffled. The speakers on this unit are crazy loud, so muffling them doesn't really reduce the sound too much.

    Does anyone have newer Nvidia drivers for this model? Using the VGA Drivers from the Nvidia site causes the computer to try and switch to dedicated VGA Card whenever i do about anything from right clicking on the desktop to opening Firefox. Really annoying since it adds like 1.5 sec delay to about anything i do!

    But you need to mod the inf. Or use the one I created ;)

    Hi, just checking in to say I got my W150ER yesterday and it works excellently with Linux Mint right out of the box! My specific model is a Malibal Lotus W150ER.

    I also took a bunch of pictures of the laptop for people who are interested in it. I couldn't find enough pictures of the machine before I bought it, so I guess I'll share mine.

    I'll upload a few of the pictures here and additionally link to a full gallery.

    Click here to view all the pictures in my image album.

    View the spoiler to view a few images.

    I got this laptop around June-ish and recently, I've been having an issue while playing games. The keyboard stops responding and if a key was held, it would keep holding that key even if I let go. Then after 10 seconds, the whole laptop just powers off. This laptop is always connected to AC power so battery isn't a problem. What could be causing this?

    Has anyone tested the battery life under Linux? I found something interesting.

    linux mint without bbswitch (dgpu not properly shutdown)
    idle: 20w---->3h
    net: 21-23w--->2h43m
    1080p x264 vid: 25w---->2h24m

    linux mint with bbswitch (dgpu off)
    idle: 14.5w--->4h08m
    net: 16-18w--->3h31m
    1080p x264 vid: 20.5w-->2h55m

    windows 7 dgpu on (3dmark11 opened)
    idle: 18w (16-20)--->3h20m
    net: 20w (18-22)---->3h
    1080p x264 vid: 25 (20-28.5)--->2h24m

    Windows 7 UMA mode
    idle: 17w (15-20)--->3h31m
    net: 18w (16-20)--->3h20m
    1080p x264 vid: 23w (20-26)-->2h36m

    It seems that in Windows, Optimus is not fully deactivating the nvidia card, explaining the similar discharge rates whatever dgpu is on or off.
    While in linux deactivating the dgpu with bbswitch increases considerably the battery life.

    Also, you can use the new 305.53 from laptop2go. This version is working nicely without any "lag".
    Just make sure to also download the inf file modded by them.

    I had a look at that driver here and it seems it also doesnt have nvidia optimus driver components in there will that work then or will it switch the whole time back and forth between the igpu and dgpu?

    You are right, but it works well :confused:
    It even has the right-button menu like official drivers from Clevo.

    But you can use Clevo's drivers for 680m using the modded inf file I provided above.

    Hello,
    thank you @dark666apoc for the picture! My main problem is my hdd. In idle it has a maximum of 51° and 65°. I taped the fan slots under the fan, it took 4° for the HDD. I think the evil of the warming is the North Bride. Did someone unscrewed the North Bride heatsink and thermal grease or similar attempts and documented?

    I have the following idea:
    A tiny fan such as attach the Sunon UB393-500 to the heat sink of the North Bride. But how does the fan power? Is there for 2 or 3 pin fans y-cable, and if so where. What is the name of the fan connector?

    Thank you.

    Awesome! Works beautifully. :cool:

    Anywho..... Lately I've been working on so many projects that I can never even be bothered finishing one. I've been enable to get absolutely EVERYTHING to work in Arch Linux, including Bumblebee (Optimus).

    Now... I'm just wiping the drive and trying a triple-boot with OSX, Arch, and Win7....

    Hitting some walls with OSX Mountain Lion... Granted I have no freaking clue what in the world I'm doing... BUT I have it installed and running... Even though it's in safe mode.

    Probably going to end up in IRC this evening to figure out more of what I can do to get everything functional on the Mac side of things...

    It's really unfortunate that the "normal" fixes don't work. I suppose it's due to CLEVO's hardware that OSX doesn't read the devices as it should....

    Anywho, through Chimera, I'm able to boot in with the following command-line "GraphicsEnabler=No -v -x". That's where I stand now... It's all about hardware compatibility at this point.

    Already flashed it and works great.
    Just a word about new bios&EC: I didn't notice any difference in idle noise or idle temps, but it definitely adds at least 1 new level of fan speed.

    The unlocked OC works like a charm (gpu stable at [email protected] volts). No longer need to mess with nvidiaInspector commands and shortcuts to force P state below the turbo state :D

    Thanks a lot Prema. Now it just needs fn+1 to be perfect. But I can live without it since Afuwingui also forces fan to max speed (but stops as soon cpu or gpu gets warmer with a program or game). Still does a good job cooling the left palm rest area after a gaming session ;)

    Hmm Thinking about getting a new laptop and been looking at this one. Would you all fully recommend it? Does it gets very warm? Noise? stability? etc.. anything I should consider before getting it?

    What does this modded bios actually improve? Just briefly read something about a modded bios for this laptop.

    Whats up man, could you explain to me what is this Afuwingui thing? My note is getting darn hot at idle and its so annoying, usually it sits for like 68 to 70celsius then the cooler runs a little bit and get back to 68. Are those temps OK for an i7 sandy bridge at idle? or maybe there is something wrong with my notebook. Thanks in advance.

    Those temps aren't that bad, I have Ivy Bridge and my idle temps are around 60ºC. The new bios and EC seems to increase a bit the idle fan speed, but i still need to check better because I haven't seen any decrease in temperatures.
    edit: and like you said, as soon the fan starts working your temps decrease a bit.

    I only use Afuwingui to quickly decrease the temperature of left palm rest area after a gaming session. I am sending it attached.
    Just open and close it and the fan will kick to 100% speed, if it stops,open it again and close, eventually the fan will keep the 100% speed. To stop it just load something (I use prime95) to warm the cpu and let the EC adjust the speed again.

    Has anyone tried the bios recovery thingy? You can check the guide made by Prema here: BIOS RECOVERY « Prema Mod
    So far it seems to be working on clevo w110er, however I can't make it work on my w150er.

    This would be a great feature since it can recover bricked laptops

    Hi Guys,
    I've recently bought CLEVO W150ERM from PCSpecialist in UK (it's called 15,6" Optimus III ).
    Laptop is great! The only thing I am a little irritated by is the screen.
    I have FULL HD LED Glossy with one stuck pixel and when I put a little pressure on the back cover of it, I get "raindrops" on screen.
    Is it because the screen itself is faulty or because of bad build quality?

    To show you what I mean please check this short example on youtube:

    I get the same "rain drop" effect if I put some pressure on left side of back cover . Never noticed it before though.

    Yes it should work, but so far all my attempts had no success.
    That's why I am asking other users if they have better luck with it ;)
