Finished with some of my heatsinks :)

    Finished with more :)

Hope the pics help some of you. I used the mini heatsinks posted earlier "RHS-03"

I didn't add more to the GPU because I feel it would limit airflow too much as that's the only area the Vram gets airflow. Under the CPU heatpipe there is room for one more heatsink underneath I checked and they do in fact fit.

What are the Dimensions of the Heatsinks, what type of adhesive did you use, and finally.. can you show temperature results :D.

Before heatsinks my GPU temps playing skyrim were about 70-72 max, now I can't seem to get it past 66C So I'd say there has been an improvement.

Amazon.com: Cosmos ® 8 PCS Copper VGA RAM Cooling Heatsinks cooler + Cosmos Cable Tie: Computers & Accessories
These are the heatsinks I used, Someone else recommended these same ones earlier in this thread as well, I used the stock thermal pads, if they do not perform up to snuff than I will probably be switching to 3M thermal tape.

I made Ram heatspreaders as well, but I had issues fitting them back into their slot, since I haven't overclocked my ram yet I don't find it to be that big of a deal. Will probably fix them later.

Sorry no screenshots of my temps before and after I was a bit excited when I got home from work. I feel much better having the heatsinks on the power controllers as well, they were quite warm when the computer was active.

Anyone with screenshots of the Sager Aftermarket heatsink setup please post some pictures for reference.

Sweet, even without a cooler? My main concern is CPU temps, have those improved? OC 1100/2800 GPU never passed 74C at 99% GPU load and 60% CPU load during a game.

I'm staying in mid to high 70s with prime 95 running blend tests and house temp around 78 F

Does it mean this model indeed doesn't have the fn+1 feature?

    btw, nice mod.

And what were the cpu temps before the mod? The gpu seems to never get really hot, even with OC mine barely gets above 72ºC.

Prime 95 before the mod ran it up to about 80-85 Sometimes shooting to 100C.

Now I can only get it into the 80s with Furmark running on the DGPU or IGPU

    Running Furmark alongside Prime95?

With PK-1, mine are 81-84 with Prime 95 alone...

With Constant 3.1GHZ 3610qm, and 1100/2800 GPU, FFXIV can take the game up to 93C briefly but mostly hover around all of the 80s, and the GPU can't pass 74C mostly hovering around 69C. I'd say that's pretty freaking good compared to my effed up Acer reaching 100C on both without OC XD.. but I'd be much happier to take the CPU out of the 90s.

I'll redo the paste job when the sinks arrive, and look around for better non permanent thermal adhesive.

How did you get your gpu clock so high? What program did you use? I have really low temps even when I game (~70-75C) and I think I could easily squeeze some more performance out of it.

Also , what program to overclock the CPU? Throttlestop just isn't working for me.

ThrottleStop is what i use actually, also disable C state power reports with Prema's BIOS mod. Used nvidiainspector with force p5 state to OC GPU.

Yo! I've been reading alot about Asus N56VZ, MSI GE60 and Clevo W150ERM. Cant really decide which to get though. I got quite a good stationary computer so the laptop is just for the few times I go to LAN or travel. Like at most 3-4 days/month.

If I decide going W150ERM I got a few questions.

This is where im buying it: F-512B - Family Performance [F] - Bärbara - apparently they call it F-512B here.

1 x Standard/stock, 1920x1080, 60% NTSC, matte How is this this screen? Worth it going for the more expensive one?
1 x I5 3210M | 2,5-3,1 GHz 3 MB, 35 W Unsure here if it's really worth it getting i7, as I wont really be using this laptop that much.
1 x 8 GB Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600 MHz (2x4 GB) Does it matter if I get 1600MHz or 1333MHz? The latter one is a bit cheaper.
1 x Nvidia GT 650M 1 GB GDDR5 Is this optimus? Cant find info anywhere on the site where it says optimus.
    1 x Intel Centrino Ultimate 630)
    1 x Arctic MX-4

    Price: 7890SEK/1137USD

And I plan on getting a 60/120gig ssd and storage drive by myself as that's cheaper.

If I got for the expensive one screen i think ill pay the extra 65USD to get "perfect pixel warranty"

EDIT: What is the difference between W150ERM and W150ERQ?

I would also like to know if there is any difference.
And yes, W150ER has Optimus, it even has a dedicated button to switch between iGPU and nvidia.

How are u guys getting such a low temps with your i7. Mine is a sandy bridge 2670qm and im getting 81~87 celcius while playing bf3 without turbo boost. And its not hot this time of the year. Are u guys using cooling pads or something else?

I ordered the IC diamond 7 upgrade sadly, what a waste of $45 since I put PK-1 thermal compound 2-3 month down the line. With IC7, temps never rose passed 83C on BFBC2, with 2.6GHZ(ThrottleStop'pped) CPU, with no other modifications of any kind, and before Prema's Mod.

Yea I was thinking about that =/. But since i got the i7 instead of i3 for about 50bucks, here in Brazil, I think it was a good deal anyway, ill just let it "burn" and will try to improve the temps with a colling pad or something.

Those temps you are getting are well within spec, so while they are hot, there is nothing to worry about.

    hello folks again..

Are you all happy with your W150ERM?? :)

Has anyone tried the stock screen? Thinking about perhaps going for stock screen, and just order the AOW 95 NTC if the stock is way too bad..
Is it hard changing the screen by myself?

Also.. dunno is it worth it getting i7 over i5. Costs 143USD more to get the i7.

Thanks, so far you are the only user I saw showing the fn+1 feature working.

I wonder if it is just the bios, because my laptop is the ERM version, just like yours.
Could you check your bios and kb/ec version?
I am still a newbie in this forum so I can't PM users (unless I am doing something wrong), so could you ask Prema if there is a way to dump your bios kb/EC firmware to check if it is indeed the bios or kb/ec firmware.

After reflashing my bios to fix my ACPI issues, I also have fn+1 full fan function as well :)Though it seems to lose voltage rapidly or something, it will spin full speed stop for half a second and go full speed again.

Still having ACPI issues, any suggestions?

About the acpi problem it is indeed strange and the solution would be a bios update/reflash, but didn't work for you :(

Mine also has 1.00.06 and 1.00.02 but not the "EU" part.
And it confirms my post above that Eurocom and Sager machines have different EC firmware (and bios)

Maybe there is a way to get the firmware from Eurocom and flash in unbranded Clevo machines. The bios itself, if it is like Sager it will probably brick trying to go Clevo-->eurocom.

edit: it seems afuwin64 forces fan to speed up to 100%, but as soon I launch an heavy application/game the fan switches back to normal operation.
At least it's an alternative to "cool" the laptop after gaming :)

Thank you extide, if this works (it might, it said I had version 1020 I just installed 1019 and cannot FIND my 1020 versions.) I will owe you .

New to laptops and Intel, kind of scrambling around the Intel site which I am not fond of at all.

Unfortunately, I am still getting the same errors.

With the heatsinks on no laptop cooler, nothing, playing bf3 highest temp on one core was 82 celcius 78 on all other cores

If anyone would, check their windows system logs for me to see if I'm the only one with this issue?

It is how it works on the Clevos. The second it spins down is when the system reads out the temp for readjusting the fanspeed.

Usually when you put full load on your machine and then use FN-1 it will be less obvious.

    It's all "Clevo normal"! ;)

Hi all, just looking for advice,im kind of leaning toward the np6165 but wanted to know how you found its performance, any input from a long time owner would be great.

Looking for a great gaming experiance without having to lower my settings to much, also i was looking around(not sure if it was this fourm or not) and heard that this thing heats up pretty quick,is it true or even a big deal

    Any help is appreciated

I talked to clevo themselves nd they said tey didn't pan on releasing an extended battery, as far as teh temps I wouldn't be too worried about them , even playing bf3 and metro 2033 I have had no issues in throttling, The only reason I am concerned is that they are higher than desktop temps. If this isn't your first laptop than you should be quite pleased.

Could anyone tell me what the best driver for the nvidia gt 650m would be? atm i tried the 304.79 with a modified inf from laptopvideo2go, when i installed that the WEI asked me to re-run it cause it found new hardware. so i did that but now i saw it uses the intel hd graphics to test the videocard instead of my gt 650 m. is that cause this 304.79 driver isnt an official clevo driver? my notebook is a BTO wich is based on a clevo w150erm. So is there any 300 series driver that works well atm or do i need to wait for a better official one by clevo? Any helpis much appreciated, thanx

Best way to get the driver I found was to let nvidia scan your computer and let them give you the driver.

As far as the Cooling pad I have the U2 with a modded 12 volt port, the problem with the bottom plates on this laptop are that a cooling pad doesn't have access to blow into it, though with a modified bottom panel I could see it helping quite a bit. The u2 itself is a pretty sturdy cooler for being made of lightweight aluminum.

Have you come up with the modding yourself or is there any guide or something for it?
Do you think that there could be another cooling pad that could work better for reaching the bottom plates?

The mod is rather basic, I just grabbed an R4 fan mounted it where the secondary hard drive bay is , and soldered a type N female plug onto a 2 pin fan plug so I can switch out fans with a 12 volt power plug.

I would take a picture but cm9 on my phone doesn't support camera function yet, sorry.

There are better cooing pads if you want expand-ability but other than that this is as basic a functioning cooling pad as you can get and it does what it's suppose to, also the easiest to modify

As of yesterday evening, I started having my first issue with this laptop. I've owned it since early may, and it seems to love to work fine for a few minutes, and than the fan kicks on full speed and starts beeping for about a minute until it shuts itself off.

The weird thing about it? It happens on both Windows & Linux, AND the temperatures aren't even above normal. Last time I was able to check, the temps were in the low 60's.... Which makes this issue even stranger.

As I'm writing this, everything is fine, but it's only a matter of time before it happens again. It seems like after letting it sit off for a while, it'll work normally for a short period of time.

Kind of confused as to the cause and if there's any potential solution. I'd hate to have to ship this laptop off because I do need it for work... Now this issue is just becoming a pain in my.... Not to mention the HDD died a few weeks ago, I had e-mailed this guy at Xotic who had asked me about how my purchase was. After the e-mail I sent him regarding the few issues I had, he failed to respond. Imagine that.
