Im getting idle at 55~58 while locking it to 800mhz with throttlestop. and near 90C while playing using it at 1.8ghz, If I try to put it higher go to 95~98.

That is higher then ideal. I'd consider opening up the bottom and cleaning it out, especially if you havent done so within the last 6 moths. Dust will build up much quicker then you'd imagine. That usually fixes high temp issues.

    helo newbie here.

i want to know why is my new clevo sager np6165 gt650m only show pci-e 2.0 8x even when i play game or oc stability test?

i know that sandy bridge only support pci-e 2.0 but why still using 8x link instead 16x?

    help would be appreciated.

also this is my gpu-z SS

Even desktop GPUs don't utilize the full 8x bandwidth available and so the 650m will be well within that data threshold as well. No since putting in a more expensive 16x slot for something that won't even use 8x.

Hello, can you change the GPU in this laptop? I remember that in my old laptop the graphics card was in a like a mini version of the PCI-E slot, so is it the same in this laptop?

hey guys, I've been browsing for hours now and feel retarded that I can't find an answer to what I'm looking for.

I can't seem to find a surefire way to drive a Dell 27" 2713HM at max resolution (2650x1440) with my Malibal branded Clevo. Since our chassis lack the Displayport over the other models, it seems that the only logical way to do it would be an HDMI to dispalyport adapater? or maybe the HDMI to DVI? I'm not certain, but I don't imagine the vga port has enough bandwidth for it to run.

I can't find any information as to what version HDMI that we have on our machines. If it's 1.3, I'd imagine that it should work, but I've been searching and can't find.

Would be greatly appreciative if someone could help me out.

*Edit* Found that it's an hdmi 1.4 port. hopefully a simple adapter will do.

Hey guys I have a problem for months now. My computer runs very warm to the touch, even when I have the screen closed for a few hours. For example, I left my laptop on all night but idle (no programs running, single-digit cpu usage), and when I opened it the keyboard and especially the lower-left palm rest area was very warm. SpeedFan shows GPU @ 54C and all CPU cores @ 63C.

This would be fine for gaming temps, but this is idle! It's not dust because I always dust the heatsink and such with compressed air every week, and I even replaced the thermal paste inside with arctic silver 5 thermal compound when I thought it was the paste issue. I don't know what's going on! Any ideas?

FYI Fan does NOT turn on at this temp when the computer is shut closed. As soon as I open up the computer, the fan kicks in slightly. I tried to manually adjust fan speeds, but SpeedFan does NOT detect any fans on this computer (I'm not sure why not).

    Hi all,

I am a newbie on this sight with limited tech knowledge. My husband has this Sager/Clevo model laptop which I use pretty infrequently. Tonight I decided to use it. Part-way through my session (in which it was working fine) I noticed the adapter had become unplugged and erroneously plugged the adapter in the wrong way (hadn't realized it had a slight cylindrical shape, read on this forum it's kind of a deceptive design flaw). At any rate, shortly after the adapter snafu I smelled a something burning and the computer went dead. There are now two faint yellow lights. I've unplugged and plugged back in all different parts, held the power button down for a long time, opened it up and removed, replaced the battery. I'm pretty sure it's fried. My husband ironically is a techie but is away this weekend so cannot have a look. He suggested bringing it by a nearby computer café tomorrow. Has anyone experienced such a thing, do you think the motherboard is in fact fried, and if so how much damage did I probably do? I wonder how much such a repair will cost? It has been a bad day so this really is the icing on the cake! Of all the luck! :(

Thanks anyone and everyone for your feedback!

Hello friends. How to solve problem with high noise level? I have changed thermal paste for CPU and GPU to AC MX-4. When i play(Diablo 3) fan spins very high, but the temperature is normally - 70-74 for CPU cores, 65 for GPU and 71 for PCM. What determines speed of the fan?

And another question from me. How in the devils name are you supposed to secure a second HDD with screws? One side seems to be completely blocked, so you can't do anything there. And the other side is halfway blocked. Where are the screws supposed to go? xD

one of the hdd's is hold in place here by some plastic piece with some rubber on the end here and the second one has some sort of plastic thing wich is attached to the hd so you can put in the screws to secure it.

hi , does anyone have any experiences of hearing unbearable grinding noise from the fan of your w150er ? i've been experiencing this lately and i'm concluding that the damage is within my laptop's fan ? any recommendation in what should i do ? also are the some better quality fans rather than the stock fan in w150er ( i think the brand is called ADDA or something and its amperage is 0.4 A ) ?

How can I manually control this laptop fan speed? Also, why does this laptop run so damn hot? The lowest I can get the temperatures is 55 degrees, and that is when I leave it 15 minutes just doing nothing on the desktop. When I read the news and watch Youtube, it's around 65 degrees.

I am a new Clevo W150ERQ owner and currently have a Realtek Wireless card. I think that either the card is failing, or it just isn't a good card to begin with. I would like to replace the card. Is replacing the card difficult for someone with just a bit of basic computer parts replacement experience, and can anyone recommend a good replacement? Thanks in advance.

If you are comfortable installing RAM then the wireless card should be no problem. I cant remember where its located on this model, if under the bottom then its easy, but some models have it under the keyboard.
For a recommendation the Intel AC 7260 is the most popular right now.

Thanks for the reply. I found that it is very easy to replace the wifi card, and I've ordered the Intel AC 7260 to replace it and complement my AC router. However I have another question and I wasn't sure where else to ask. In device manager in the properties of the current Realtek wifi card there is an option under Power Management to "Let the computer turn off this device to conserve power". With that option enabled the wifi card will immediately connect to the wifi router after a sleep or hibernation but will occasionally randomly disconnect from the router. With that option disabled the wifi card will not connect to the router automatically, but when I connect it manually it will stay connected with no random disconnects. I have another laptop in the house (a Toshiba) and the exact same thing will happen on that computer as well. Any thoughts as to what could be causing that behavior? It seems I can't get the wifi card to both connect automatically AND not have any random disconnects.

Let me know if there is another place I should be asking this question.

Is the Realtek RTL8723AE Wifi card bugged? Sometimes, I randomly lose connection to the Internet, but am still connected to the router. Plus, when gaming, there are sometimes ping spikes to 300 for a second, then it goes back to normal. Anyone else have similar behaviour?

What is the best method for applying thermal paste on this laptop (putting a pea-sized blob at the centre of the CPU and letting it push the paste on CPU or smearing it by finger in a plastic bag/ credit card)? Also, I bought Cooler Master HTK-002 paste, is it a good paste?

Let the heatsink spread it while you push it down and secure it with the screws, dont worry about doing it ahead of time. Have never used that Cooler Master thermal compound, we typically recommend IC Diamond.

Letting the heatsink smear it around usually doesn't cover the whole chip, won't that be a problem?

It should cover the whole chip if you put the right amount on. Spreading it ahead of time can cause air pockets. Heres some pics to look at the different ways of doing it and what results the produce Application

If you download a program called Speccy, it shows temp for motherboard. I want to know, from where is the temperature taken? On load, its temp is 5-10 degrees celsius higher than CPU.

I seem to have located the motherboard chip, it is under the same metal plate that covers VRAM, but there's no thermal paste, only some kind of pad. Should I put thermal paste onto the motherboard chip instead of pad?

Temperatures depend on having the right offset from max for the reading, 10C sounds like an error in that. Is your chipset overly hot? If not then don't do anything with it, the pad should be enough.

    Hello,

I want to ask if anyone knows wich cpu'\s are supported in the w150ER laptop, im thinking of upgrading my 3610qm with a faster one and was wondering wich fit and wich wont, i know everything up to 3840qm will work but would for example a 39xxXM cpu work since that is 55W vs 45W tdp

    thanx for any info

Any advice into which SATA port should I put an SSD? I am thinking about heat mostly. One of the SATA ports is directly above the mobo chip (or below, when the laptop is in it's normal position) and the chip gets crazy hot, so I am not sure if it will be a problem? And if it is, which is more prone to heat damage, SSD or HDD?
I opened up the laptop and found a caddy where to install it, but no screws? Are the screws supposed to come in the box of the SSD?
And final question, can this laptop take full advantage of SSD? Some older chipsets didn't, even though they had SATA3.

Any system even those with SATA I can enjoy an SSD, the one internally will run hotter (though most SSDs don't care about that) but it does not sit above anything that produces heat only to the side of it. The screws could come with the SSD or could be in the box the system shipped in.

I didn't find any screws in the box, and the SSD doesn't come with them either so it looks like i have to find/buy them.

Contact your reseller, also if it's to attach the drive to the caddy those will be pretty standard screws. Double check the posts that hold the caddy down in the machine don't have screws in them already.

How hot does GPU VRAM get on this laptop? Can't find a place where to check the temps. I might put some good thermal paste between heatsink and VRAM if it's worth it.
