I recently purchased a PC50DD2 with the 4k OLED screen. One thing I'm unsure about however is the built in speakers. I knew to set my expectations pretty low on the speakers already but I didn't expect them to be this bad. I get quite severe distortion once the volume goes above 10 in windows (which is low). Is that normal with this model? I basically can't tolerate it at all.

    @windowsxp
Unfortunately yes, they are quite bad, especially compared to the XMG Fusion 15 for instance. You can use the Soundblaster Atlas Software to improve the sound quality a little bit. Should be on the Driver disk.

It was one area that was downcosted on this model.

That's funny since they're not exactly cheap. I mean my configuration was $2600 AUD and a mobile phone sounds better with tiny tiny speakers. At least I know it's not a defect, thanks.

I've the same model, indeed speakers's quality is poor, but i managed to obtain a better sound using the FX Sound Enhancer, unfortunately costs a little, but worth the price.
I've noticed instead the problem with the fans, they start running spinning up and down without reason, is there a way to fix this problem?

    Goodmorning,

I already bught and ordered this laptop (PC50DD2) FROM PcSpecialist, I choosed it for an use like an Audio Workstation and obviously gaming.
Now, I've read few answer time ago that say DPC latency on this PC is not fair enough for audio production.
I dont know this argument, I thinked that latency was strictly proportional to the CPU's power but now I've read this is not a "always right rule".
So, someone could run latencymon and show me the results? I use Asio4All drivers.
    My specs: i7-10875h with 2060 and 32gb ram 2933mhz.

Could someone tell me if there's a ONE way to set well latencymon to obtain a valuable and measurable result? Or it's a jungle like it seems?

    Sorry for my english !

    Thank in advance!

Interested in trying this app to get better sound, but isn’t it free? The one I’m finding is free or so it seems.

There´re are two versions, the free one which let you change the settings to obtain a better sound and the Pro one, which you have to paid in order to save the presets you want to keep on the pc.

Save early, save often. But these are the sort of rare bugs that can happen with consumer systems. No matter what system I'm on I always assume the machine will shut off at any moment.

Yes, I do: even on "pro systems" :) .

The issue was not the OS hanging, but the fact that I was unable to force the shutdown.
Imagine that happening on a landing plane: Please pilot, can we fly some more hours because I CAN'T shutdown my hanging laptop?" :D

I understand it's not happening everyday, and it's not even a good practice, but there are times when you need to force the shutdown on a laptop..

No problem at all with them, the program recognize automatically the in/output source such as headphones or Tv Speakers, and you can select a different profile for each one, modifying various settings such as Fidelity/Ambience/3D Surround/Bass etc..like an EQ

Hi everyone, I have the 4K OLED in my PC50DD2 which is supposed to be capable of displaying HDR content however I can't seem to get it to work. I can toggle HDR on or off in windows but if it is toggled on, my display turns a strange magenta colour. I have no toggle for "stream hdr video". It's just permanently turned on so I can't choose to force netflix to only play HDR titles in SDR to get around it. I have tried the netflix windowstore app and Edge browser, it makes no difference. So when I am watching shows or movies that are HDR, the video is almost black, it just doesn't display correctly and I can't stream the SDR version instead.

Even though the samsung 4k OLED is only rated vesa hdr400, it should still be able to display HDR content correctly.

    Looking for advice, thanks

HDR in windows is still not great in general. Have you updated your Intel drivers?

    Hi there,

I am considering a new Defiance VIII ( this one) and I have some question for Defiance VII/PC50 owners:
    - Is it possible to use G-SYNC with an external monitor? If yes, does it work through miniDP or HDMI?
    - What is the max power of the GPU? I am undecided between the 3070 and the 3080 and I'm not sure if they have the same power cap and how that would impact performance

I believe it does support running an external off the integrated graphics (not mentioning surround view is the giveaway) but I'm not 100% on which of the ports it is.

    For power:

    - Maximum TGP: 105 W (including 15W Dynamic Boost 2.0)

For our model. Each seller should list theirs but the 3060 models should be the same.

    Hey guys,
just saw Bestware/XMG/Schenker has a new laptop, the XMG Pro early 2021 with 300hz and 100 % SRGB display. Based on the exact same Clevo PC50 Barebone as the Schenker Key 15 for instance. So I have a Clevo PC50 with RTX 2070 max q.and 144hz display. Do you think it should be possible to upgrade to the 300hz panel without any issues? Officially the new Barebone is declared PC51 I think, but 5he size etc is exactly the same than the PC50.
    Cheers!

Thank you. I noticed also that the model has no Optimus MUX. What does this mean in terms of battery life and Linux support? Would we still be able to use the iGPU for optimising battery life?

The panel is connected to the IGP, it can't connect directly. Support will depend on your Linux distro with Optimus.

I've been eyeing the new 2021 offering from XMG, but it seems there's no g-sync panel yet? Does anyone know of any EU resellers that have it? XMG lists it as "unknown" for est availability. External gsync monitor is not an option for me due to mobility.

EDIT: Upon closer inspection, I can't find any G-Sync 15" panels for RTX 30 series Clevo laptops. Interesting... I guess they didn't get certified with ngreedia for some reason...

seem like the replacement is up on Sager website - 3070 at the moment

    https://www.sagernotebook.com/Notebook-NP8752R.html

was wondering is RTX 3070 maximum TGP:105W is enough for ultra high setting gaming ? should i wait for Tiger Lake 11th Gen intel CPU as well ?

i was looking at other vendor which seem to indicate that the RTX 3080 will be limited to 105W as well, not sure it is a viable option to choose it over 3070 other then the 16GB compare to 8GB

My pc50 just crashed massively. First the keyboard stopped responding, then Obsidian tools gave a critical error, then the computer hang. Could not turn the laptop off with the power button. Then came a bsod and now a black screen, still cannot turn off the laptop and I don't have a screwdriver with me to remove the battery... Anyone else has experience with this?

Seemed a bit faster in 1080p to me in the tests they posted compared to the last model. Would have been interesting to see 1440p and ray tracing results.

In the Tomb Raider high preset test it's actually beaten by its predecessor.

However, if you add the XMG Neo 3070 to the comparison it crushes the lower TGP 3080. No reason to choose the PRO over the NEO unless you desperately need Thunderbolt.

I recently purchased the clevo pc70dn2 with the 2080 super max q from xoticpc and I am having issues with it.

whenever I try to play games on it "The division 2, F1 2020" it keeps getting extremely hot and the laptop freezes. I tried changing the thermal paste from what it came with to Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Thermal Paste, and I am still having the same issues.

I downloaded throttlestop and turned off turboboost and manual set my laptop fans to max since they dont like turning up on their own. even with this it still overheat sometime.

I don't really know how to use throttlestop, so I dont what would be that proper settings. Has anyone had these issues? if so what do you do to fix them?

    any help would be appreciated.

What are your gpu and cpu temps?

    Do you use Afterburner?

It's not normal that thee laptop freezes instead of throttles when you reach high temps. Are the thermal pads still intact?

After 4 months i'm satisfied with this laptop, although i've encountered yesterday an issue which worries me a bit. When i use the laptop with battery, the temperatures are fine,
as soon as I put the charger in, it runs hot, both with the CPU and the GPU (about 85-90 degrees), even if i'm not doing anything. When i charge the notebook once i've turned it off, there's no problem at all. i've checked the energy profile in windows, which is setted on Balanced, so it seems there's a setting which causes this thermal issue, otherwise what could it be?

When you unplug it the default balance power settings limit cpu to 50% so that might be the cause of off you different Temps. Mine has an overheating issue that freezes when I play games and now my screen broke when I tried opening the lid. Hope yours isn't freezing.

If you want to use it as your primary gaming laptop it needs a LM repaste to really shine imho. For less demanding games an undervolt CPU underclock, and fps cap works for me.

I had to settle with a 70% cap on the max processor state which seems to keep my thermal in check enough for me to play games.
